  1. Well the pink footed cinnamon is a visual violet, YF2 cinnamon opaline spangle The grey footed cinnamon is a cobalt YF2 cinnamon spangle. The only difference between the two is that one has opaline and violet and the other does not. By the way I can see your pictures now Jimmy
  2. The picture isn't very good. But it looks like it could be scaley face. Seeing how it is on his feathers it looks like he just rubbed his face in some soft food and it dried on it face. Try dampening it with a wet cloth and see if it comes off.
  3. Ooo oo i can see those! I sent my application to the firewall poeple and they are reviewing it, so they must have been happy with it.
  4. Chaff also smells delicious
  5. Your "normal" baby isn't normal. Look at its alula (the budgie equivalent of a thumb, it has 3 feathers on it) it is clear on that picture, normally it is dark like the rest of the feathers. It is a very poorly marked pied. I think the clearflight pied came in from either of the parents as it can be combined with dominant pied. The mother is definitely not a recessive. I would go for a DF dom pied. PS. Can I have the dad? He gorgeous. I also believe that the first baby is a yellowface rather than a yellow series bird and is violet. Mum looks to be a light green, so mauve is off the menu.
  6. Well for bloat and GDV (gastric dilatation-volvulus), they should be able to do something. In larger animals they pass a stomach tube, or use a syringe and needle, or perform surgery. I'm sure it can all be minimised to suit the size of a baby budgie. If it is constipation, the baby could be given an enema, or laxatives. If it is inflammation from infection then possibly medicine etc. Or if it is untreatable they can euthanise the baby. Depends how ill you consider the baby
  7. I agree with what everyone has said. Elly do you have that in celsius?
  8. Ooo Pretty. Jealously creeps in.
  9. My firewall lets me see MB's pictures
  10. They are gorgeous babies. Opaline yellow face blues are some of my favourite mutations combined!
  11. Ugh, that's horrible. 1700 babies from 2 birds! They would be so horribly inbred, I could imagine a lot of them having problems. And imagine the noise! I can't stand the noise of 10 budgies when I'm in the same room, how could he cope with 1700!!! Must be deaf by now! And to get 1700 birds, he would have had to be breeding them for some time. Imagine the layer of poop! Gross.
  12. I'm sorry to hear this Snowy. May your little birdy rest in peace.
  13. Unfortunately I don't have my notes with me, but it sounds like she may have a problem with the shell gland (aka uterus). Either the egg is passing through too fast and not getting enough calcium laid down on to it, or there is a problem with it... Or sometimes soft shelled eggs just happen, like a blip in the production line and tend to happen in a young bird just starting to lay. Here is a link : Soft Shelled Eggs
  14. Is the swelling hard like it's filled with air? It could be bloat, or gastic dilatation-volvulus - vet needed! Is the swelling soft? It could be food in the abdomen, swelling, inflammation, blood, fluids - vet needed! Is it hard? It could be constipation - Vet needed!
  15. Jimmy is everywhere but here
  16. The only ones I know of are Stanley, Eastern and Crimson. I'll google it. Stanley Rosellas are also called Western Rosellas according ot google and Wiki. However those ones look completely red with yellow cheeks. A bit like an eastern with yellow instead of white cheeks. Here is a link to Wiki's list of Rosellas. Rosellas Can't see him on it Haha the Northern Rosella is also known as the Smutty Rosella! Right, the Adelaide and Yellow rosella are now considered variants of the Crimson Rosella Correction: Subspecies of the Crimson Rosella
  17. Very cute. Is Joey a Stanley Rosella?
  18. Ah. Polygenetic inheritance is never as much fun. Interesting to note though, that of my two cinnamon girls (cinnamon being a colour that removes black eumelanin), one has pink feet, the other has grey feet. I do notice that my blue footed boys do not have any dilution to their body colour, yet one of them is a full body-colour grey wing (yet he is a cobalt, but a very light one, so maybe he is just a grey wing). So maybe we could map which genes these foot colours are linked to. Just in my bunch of budgies it does not seem to adhere to any particular colour and seeing as I have hardly any dilution genes in my flock yet still have pink feet. Also the interesting fact is I have 3 full body colour grey wings. One has blue feet, one has pink feet and one has grey feet.
  19. Well for me my vet consultation is free Wing clipping is free (because I do it myself) 10% off all prices And if you are exceptionally lucky it becomes a teaching case, and it is much much less. This is a rare occurence and I think it only happened to me, because my pet was a bird with very unusual clinical signs and because our country has so many rare birds, that I think knowledge gained from his case was used to help our wildlife. But this is only because I'm a vet student.
  20. He must have had gas then!! Going completely on a pelleted diet isn't really the best thing for them, because pellets are very high in protein. Budgies are also adapted to eat a lot of seed and do need a portion of it in their diets. They eat and need more seeds than other parrots do. I would recommend, a third of their diet as seed.
  21. She's also a lovely person too :angel1: So are others (but I can't mention them all at once or else this thread will just shine with brilliance) they know who they are!
  22. You'll still hear from me. I can't really stand to game for longer that 2 to 2 and a 1/2 hours. 3 is really pushing it. And if I get xbox live, I'll get tired of people going "OMG you're a girl!" and etc long enough to come back to the forums. And remember this is only if I get a JOB during the summer to save up for it too. Stupid recession, why did it have to come now!? I'm just playing some old computer games at the moment like Riven (it's from the myst series). I recommend it as well as the Monkey Island series. Old games rule. Actually if you ever need a review on new releases this guy called Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw does some brilliant and funny reviews. Careful though, he uses some foul language and has "references" to some things, But he is very funny. I would rate him M. Here is the link: Zero Punctuation Even his reviews for games you don't know about are well worth watching.
  23. Same JB. I've had the PSP for 2 years and probably used it less than 100 times. I have 3 games and haven't finished any. Yet I've had an xbox, PS2 and PSX and I use them so much more. I am trying to save up for an xbox 360 so I can own Halo 3 for myself and play it as often as possible.
  24. Yes and no? They like height, but they don't have claws to hang on to branches with, rather they perch on them instead and bounce and jump off of them. Ekima is in one of those double storey aviary cages that have a house roof and are usually green. She has lots of platforms made of wood and branches to climb on. In the Andes they live in the rocks and cliff faces of the mountains, hiding in holes or climbing. They are sort of like mountain goats then really. They share burrows with a little mouse called the chinchilla mouse too (I think that is its name). Really fascinating little creatures. Their digestive tracts don't tolerate a lot of green food and they rely on hay and dried grasses and the odd fruit from a special cactus plant that lives up there. Needless to say I feed her pellets, seed and hay. No greens except as a treat.
  25. They aren't really cuddly animals, they prefer to run and play. She comes up to the cage door for treats and enjoys being scratched behind the ear. When I let her out to run her favourite thing is to run up to a closed door and bounce off of it. Yes she literally bounces off walls. They are little poop machines though. Their poop is like mouse poop, so it doesn't stain or anything. She just leaves a little trail of pellets sometimes hehe.
