Flying Problem
We had a budgie who didn't fly much, I think he was scared. Perhaps some birds just don't like flying or weren't taught by their parents.

rescued budgies
Slightly lost there "Antis" not sure what they/that is. I've had problems with the RSPCA and also success, if you call the national helpline you just get a muppet who doesn't give a dam about the animals. If you manage to speak to your local branch then normally you can get someone to give you help. If all else fails then think of getting in contact with Rolf Harris and let him know about any RSPCA branch offering poor service. I think each country should have a dedicated budgie rescue sanctuary where all the unwanted & found birds could be kept and carefully looked after. Anyone got any land? Anyone got any idea's on how to raise funds for such a large project? :glare:

Cage Paint
Ouch, did they advertise it as such, I'd send it back at that price, even some of the new cages only cost around ?100 for a large one.

Dumb question
Seeds get stale with time especially if not in an air sealed container. Best to change reasonably frequently.

Budgie Knows Home Address
Great story, just don't move to a different address

Is this big enough?
It looks like it has a large height and should be okay for the time being. I agree with Bea the internal width space is what a bird really needs though.

White bread?
Star would eat a whole loaf if we let him. He has a nibble of home made fresh bread and toast now and then as a treat. I have heard that large amounts can swell up inside birds and cause problems, therefore giving in moderation is recommended. :feedbirds:

What is "normal" poo?
I don't think you have a problem, but try the apple project. We find that if Star drinks lots of water (at bath time!) or has lots of greens then the colouring of his vent feathers get mucky.

What is "normal" poo?
We have the same problem with Star, I think it's more noticable on the Albinos as the stains stand out on white. We give him plenty of baths, sometimes a quick wipe, which he hates and pulls this face after we release him I think it also gets worse as they get older as more stains build up.

Cage Paint
I agree you could run into problems in the future and a new cage would be best. If however you have to use the old one then you would have to find a paint that does not contain lead or zinc and a variety of other materials which are toxic to budgies. This could be quite hard and I don't know of any suppliers.

Bea Disinfectant
Hi I use the Ready To Use spray version and rinse any item that will contain food, water or may be nibbled a lot. I haven't seen a concentrate version but the manufacturer should be able to help here's their link. http://www.beaphar.com They are a European company with an office in the UK telephone number 01440 715700 . :feedbirds:

rspb/bird flu
Yes I agree, what I really meant was relating to the cowboys who don't care about the animals they sell and also the traders who trap wild birds for profit. The UK and Europe should do something serious to stop that sort of trade as there are plenty of birds for sale in local countries.

rspb/bird flu
I think they should ban the import of birds everywhere and also other animals as it can be inhumane, as a lot of them end up dying.

Pretty Bird - jungle munchies
It should be okay in small doses, as a sort of treat. I sometimes use one of the Vitakraft products which has very scary colours, it also has aniseed which makes my bird go barmy when he eats them :sport:

Destroyable toys
I give my bird shredders made by planet pleasures from natural woven palm leaves. Also cuttlebone, sand covered perches, tril treats (which are destroyed and not eaten) and several fingers :feedbirds:
