Hi Everyone,

Recently I started to make some breeding cabinets. They are almost finished now, Stands and Trays are the only things to be done. Anyway here are some pictures.

Anyway, enough pictures. The main reason I posted this was because I was wondering if I should put a landing platform below the entrance hole to the nest box. Dad brought this stuff home and I was wondering if it was any good. The holes are probably about 6-8 mm wide

No budgies in there yet... Won't be able to start breeding till October.

Thanks In Advance,

That is so excellent !!!! Tremendous effort. :)

In my opinion you wont need a platform. You have a perch near the nestbox and if the nestbox also has a short perch just under the nestbox hole then thats all you will need. As great as that mesh looks I would not risk anything a bird may stick their leg through and be injured.

I just made two more vertical units on wheels too. Mine have a 150mm sliding glass door under the cage front that allows me to slide it sideways and clean without disrupting the birds too much. I can also put the food in there using the glass door if I want. Stops a lot of seed debris coming out. Servicable but not as neat as yours :D

I agree with Kaz, you don't need a platform.

Hi NitsuD and Daz -

I just came upon your site and chat group. Excellent site.

I love your breeding cabinets NitsuD. Would you happen to have the dimensions of the cages ? Would you mind sharing it with me so I can some built ? Thanks.

Would appreciate your suggestions as well Darryl. I am looking to build something like what NitsuD has. Three cages in a row - rack system.

Thanks

Frank Menezes
