Theyve been together since they were really young. Bugs(male) is really interested in the nest box, and I noticed Echo(female) spending more of her time inside, since I removed all the distractions. Here are some pictures(they are a little blurry): http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a94/hops5..._0910Custom.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a94/hops5..._0911Custom.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a94/hops5..._0912Custom.jpg Edited December 17, 2007 by KAZ changed to links over the board regulations fo 450x450, thank you for understanding Link to comment

Two short ones runing front to back, so they can fly back and forth across the cage ( a part of mating behaviour )....the birds rarely like a breeding box under a perch like that. If it absolutely cannot be mounted outside your cage and up higher, then put something under it in the cage to bring it up to a higher level. There really isnt a lot of room in the cage with the nestbox in there. They would feel crowded. Link to comment

I will put a couple more perches in there. The only problem with moving the nest box up higher, is then I wouldnt be able to open the top of the box to check the eggs. Link to comment

Please dont put more perches in but remove those ones and redo in the other way I suggested. I really think you should mount the nestbox outside and higher up. Even if you have to cut some bars of the cage for access to the nestbox hole. You can attach a plate to that section later on to seal up the hole. Link to comment

BUT if you do all the things others more experienced have suggested it will help your chances. You also have to remember that once babies fledge the cage has to be big enough for a while for around 7 budgies. With a nestbox INSIDE, the cage wont be big enough. Link to comment

I have rearranged the cage, and put the nest box at the highest point, and it is outside of the cage. Within 30 minutes, my female started going inside already. I am going to get some pine shavings and put some in the nest box today. Here are some pics. Pleasetell me if there is anything I should fix. Link to comment

I did pick up some pine shavings, but I got the wrong kind. I got the "naturally fresh" instead of unscented. So I will get that tomorrow. Oh and what I have noticed is my male really seems like he wants to mate, but my female seems pretty agressive, he will try and feed her, and she will take it for a little bit, then after awhile she will just strike at him, and forces him to scoot or fly away. Then he will fly from perch to perch, and try again, and my female does the same thing. Hopefully this will change. Link to comment

Next time I check the box when the female is out, I will try and get some pics. It looks like only 1 is infertile, and that was the first one layed. Link to comment
