  1. Finally got onto the avian vet and i talked to him for a while. He's going to make up some medication for me to put in the water that me and dad can just pick up without a consultation tomorrow. He said he was fine doing that because we've already had 2 birds tested and coming up with the same thing and also because the medication isn't a really strong one. He did say though that if they still get sick while on the medication there's something else going on and i'll need to bring some in for some tests (still in shock, a vet that actually talks about tests - diagnostics [sp?] as he put it - on the phone, wow :ausb:). I can also get Harrisons pellets there but it's pretty expensive, $17 for 450g. If i can get the money i will buy some though cause the vetafarm ones i usually get are $16 for 450g at the local pet shop and i've totally run out....now to find the money....."muuuuum"
  2. But even spangle opalines have the V shape of body colour between their wings. Let's see if i can find a picture showing my spangles with their showing wing colour: (between his wings, around the top of his wings) (can't see green but can see clear patch between wings, not body colour though so not opaline) (best picture, shows colour really well! not an opaline) Just looking back at the photos Dad is marked like Blinkie, colour only up the top of his wings. Mummy looks a bit more confusing but she really only colour on the top of her wings too, she has a clear patch but not body colour - like Ozzie who is also dominant pied spangle.
  3. That's so funny!! :(Laughing out loud):

Look at them all!! How cute!
  5. Someone did, Cheeta and Nerwen i think...
  6. I have a question about the mutations. To me neither parent is opaline. Niether has the clear V shape between their wings which if they were opaline would be body colour. Many of my spangles have some body colour showing up where black/grey markings should on their wings and i think that's just a spangle thing. Blinkie and Ozzie have this and so do some of my others. And the babies really don't look opaline...

I took PB and Gus out of the breeding cage today and removed the cage from the aviary. With Tiki dying from trich. i figuired that it would be unwise for me to be breeding until i'm sure it's completely gone from the aviary. I'm praying neither Kala or Bob get it as they've got their eggs and future chicks to worry about, i'm hoping they can be treated while they have chicks, if not i guess i'll pull the chicks to handrear once they're all getting their fluff so the parents can be treated.

I think this is pretty normal. The only times i've had the youngest as full as the oldest is with my super daddy, Gherkin, on the job. :hap: As long as it is getting fed it should be right.
  10. *sobs* That poem always makes me cry. It's such a nice poem.

Not again!!! Hopefully she'll only lay the one egg and then get bored.
  12. If they're the ones in your sig, how long ago was that photo taken?
  13. I cleaned the aviary this morning. Will ring the vet this arvo or maybe in the morning.
  14. I just found a cute picture of her. I was having trouble finding one.
  15. She's going to die. She's all skin and bones. I went and got some syringes at the chemist to try to get some food into her but i'm almost certain she can't swallow anymore, i just wish i had noticed she wasn't right sooner. I cleaned her up a bit and gave her a little head scratch and put her back in her box where she's lying on the floor, her breathing is really shallow.
  16. I have an idea! Fill them with birds!!
  17. That's what reminded me of Apple!! :(Laughing out loud):
  18. Oooohh! I would love to get 4 of the smaller size, they have those as 4 for $120!! What a great deal.

Oooohhh! What cute babies!! I handle mine from day one too, if they can handle being tossed around by their older siblings they can handle a quick cuddle from me.
  20. Is the daddy related to Apple? He looks very similar!
  21. I'll talk to her next time i see her on msn. I'm really worried about Tiki, i have a feeling she's not going to be around much longer.

Dad is skyblue opaline and mum is greywing cobalt opaline.
  23. I read the first link just now. I guess i will need to get the whole flock treated but how in the world do you get 20 budgies to the vet? Tiki doesn't seem to be doing so well, i've seen her drink once but she's still vomitting. I got up every couple of hours during the night to reheat the heat pack so she didn't get cold. I'm racing home between classes today too. I don't want her to die. Both my regular vet and the avian vet aren't working till tomorrow though so i just have to wait till then to call, i'll try the avian vet i think.
  24. Here is Tiki's warm cage - there's a heat pack under the box. It's trichomoniasis that both her and Jelly have/had and after Jelly got ill i thoroughly cleaned the aviary and all the food and water dishes. So yes, everything has been cleaned recently. I may see if i can get a hold of Dr Sandy Hume (the registered avian vet) on Tuesday and see if she can tell me what i should do.
