Oh my gosh they r the cutest! Fostering can only appen if a mom has chicksnhey?otherwise she wd abandon? You do u do fostering? For e g if a mom lies on unfertile eggs for the third time?can a person put babies in? Or must they have chicks.

I have 2 blues that have quite a bit of purple in them. Both are different from others. Very curious,playful+ clever. Their mom is a pure white Albino.

I'd say one month you can feed him breeding porridge in a bent spoon and he will survive. Don't know much about splayed legs but it can b fixed. Oh you r so lucky to hav rescued that little baby! I check all my babies+ moms daily. They r so used to it already! Even my finches. I hav never had them abandon any babies except my young lovebird pair; they r stupid. They had 3 clutches they never completed breeding+there were chicks in eggs. Then 2 were born but they didn't feed them. She's on 3 eggs again maybe 5th x lucky.:uh??? My Albino budgie bites me lightly when chicks r born but never really seriously-just warning me! She's very protective.

Your Lacewings look like Lutinos! Do they not have the red eyes and white patch? you sure know the mutation! Welcome Cado and Kiwibudgie. He is gorgeous. My young often do that, it's almost like gnashing our teeth. They grind their beaks. Budgies drink little, and normally when you don't see them. Just part of their "thing". But I would ask Robyn or Kaz, they are the more knowledgeable people on this forum. As to sleepiness: he might be tired from the change and needs to settle. Will take a day or two. Mine have a mid-morning nap and mid-afternoon nap. As long as there is food and water in his cage, he will find it and arrange his own routine. My young only start playing at 12 weeks and over...I have 20 budgies.

Have you considered breeding your Spangles with Albino4? I bred my Spangle Olive green show budgie on left with Albino and have produced 4 clutches with multicolours+ great birds. One of their chicks came out yellow spangle+royal bly spangle (hens) I just finished breeding the 3oyal blue with a Yellow headed pale blue Rainbow+ they had 3 gorgeous chicks with startling Turquoise, pale )ellow+blue+bright blue+yellow chicks. Maybe your 2 green Spangles r not suited4 each other. Have your little parrots bred yet?

They r gorgeous! My Lutino is being rested but Lilly my Albino is a mother again!she has hatched 4 so far of 7 eggs(I put 3 dudds in else she keeps laying) they r sOooh cute! Aren't Lutinos super clever birds!? Mine are great escape artists. Out of cage through food bowl that was loose, bent bars, too wide bars! But I always have them either in courtyard or Avery. Yep beautiful birds. The egg looks good+the pair look mature enough. Yor green female looks young so she mite have bn too younf 1st time around. But the Female has to b dark brown when they r in season/on heat?! Or am I wrong? The cere I mean, has2 b dark brown.so she looks ready. My females stay beigy until they wanna lay,then they go dark brown. Am I confused on this issue? So that is what a Spangle looks like?

Thanks a span Phoebe - I just need to urgently now know if budgies are in a fight and the beak (Top) beak is broken off in the fight- a third remains, will it grow back? Do Budgies survive this. I have 2 females with off beaks. I crush and grind their seeds and de-husk them and they seem to be licking it up with their tongues. The little Rainbow Budgie is worse off than the other female, hers has grown back 2thirds already but the little one is so thin and weak, and this only happened 5 days ago. She is still surviving but I cannot administer any food-fights and moans like ***(Parakeet rearing porridge) I manage to get some Avi-plus Multi Vit & destress drops into her by dripping it drop by drop into beak which I think has helped her a lot. But food is the problem! The one survived on the crushed seeds and crushed Spinach,grated apple. I've even put mashed boiled egg down. When little one (Rainbow) looks weak i put a drop of honey in beak to energise.

I have 3 at the moment, It's my Rainbow Male and a female crossed from the English show budgie and his Albino female-so they r a real mix now. The mom came out Royal blue with black/grey markings on wings- the 3 chicks are so beautiful- they have dad and mom's markings i will try to upload photo's again- i also battle quite a bit with it- they said we must use Photobucket!

Hi funkypanda do not remove chicks and feed them yourself, they will die. They need certain nutrition fr mother for 1st 7 days, like a milky substance that cannot b copied by humans. They also need a lot of warmth from mom, hence they hav feathers! They r only out of danger after 14 days. Some experts handrear them after 14 days but they r experts!be careful! Little knowledge is dangerous+ heartbreaking! I've lost many babies+cried a lot, read+learn+google+read, Maz7
