  1. well, there is a tie, so we need one more vote. unless we just put them all in?
  2. okay, well we still need one vote on the already voted, please vote ASAP. Unless us that have already voted agree with having each one in for the month of JUNE?
  3. haha, my pet budgie seems to be like that, as in that a feather will interest him more than anything really.
  4. Yes I have been checking him every day since she was found food less. Thanks for the reply
  5. Is that the latest photo of rachelms or the June entry?
  6. ha ha, I am the same as you, I have very little understanding on this topic, although i think i am getting better at sexing a few week old babies, as KAZ gave me a 'crash course'
  7. I totally agree with the others, If you add a father he would probably take too long to pair up You should wait and see how they go alone and if you notice her struggling then you may need to assist in hand rearing etc. Do not please, allow that other father to help two females it is highly likely it will result in death and or injury to the parents and to chicks. Good luck, you may need it.
  8. I really like rachelms June entry. Does anyone mind me voting on that one? He's so cute and cheeky.
  9. Hi all, I woke up this morning and checked on my birds, while the others were (and still are) one female was jumping on the ground. I thought that this was a bit odd, so i checked from outside her cage and she seemed okay. I checked the pairs food and water and they were clean and full from doing them last night. This afternoon I went over and the female looked as if she was having a fit of some kind. But was trying to get onto the perch, but she could stand or fly. I got her out of the cage and she was just empty, I mean she had food and water at easy access. So I was wondering if she got sick, or weather the male partner stopped her getting the food and water? She passed away a few minutes ago, sadly I thought she would survive as she perked up, but she must have just had a final burst of energy... If anyone knows what may have happened please let me know. Additional information; Cage is clean They were preparing to breed she is a smaller budgie, where as her male partner appeared to be a king budgie (dont think that matters) They had been seen mating She was of the correct age and ready to breed, as was the male. I don't colony breed Nest box was provided and she had been in and out for 2-3 days she did have a seed in her mouth I gave her moist food and water through eye dropper. She was only acting weird at the start of this morning. Thanks all, Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Very nice aviary!
  12. Congrats, I always love my pinkies (The babies without feathers in case you didn't know) although none of my family likes them at that stage but love them later.
  13. Wow they are really nice photos all. I like the colours and mutation in those birds Robyn, and that is a cute photo Birdlove.
  14. That's really upsetting losing a bird, sorry for the loss. Great that you want to get awareness out and about, about the diseases etc.
  15. As said by the others if you are not breeding, then you can get siblings. Really up to you, I mean they are unlikely to breed without something to breed in, so really doesn't matter. Also you might want different colour mutations depends on what the others turn out like. You could probably start to tame one before you got the other budgie if you got them from separate clutches. Easier as the other bird can't disrupt the training.
  16. I would say male too. But my budgie is a boy and he just doesn't get along with any other bird. So it could be difficult finding a partner. Also how old is the little fella? Because he still looks relatively young and if you are trying to breed them at a young age (if you breed them), there could be problems. 9 months is what most breeders would be saying is the youngest to start at but you should wait until they are about one year old.
  17. It would be likely to work, however just be alert on how they are towards each other as it could all go pear shaped quickly if the slightest thing upsets them. Also make sure that you know who lays what eggs, as the one that hasn't laid an egg could lay and upset them, and if you don't know if it was the first female or the second, you wont know clearly why they disagreed.
  18. well it goes to Birdlove, number 2, any objections? Now we are onto the month of July. By The Way everyone, just so I can have ideas of how many people wants one of these calendars, could you please either PM me or just say yourself on here. just remember you will need to give me an email later in this year, and you will need a printer that you can print these out from.
