  1. Hey, I know you have already got your answer but i thought i would ad my bit as well. I haven't been breeding for long but I have one female that has been a great breeder for me, she has had several clutches and she is a really enthusiastic breeder. When she breeds she will throw her babies out of the box ( only a couple of days before they are ready to) and start laying straight away, she usually has 3 clutches before having a brake (6 eggs every clutch about 5 hatch always). She is a great parent and raises her chicks brilliantly.
  2. They are all females and are kept inside a shed i bring them outside for sunshine often and feed them seed, broccoli and corn. They are all around 11 months old.
  3. But it doesnt look like they are missing any other feathers except for there flight feathers that are the ones on the end of the wings.
  4. Hi, I have three budgies in a separate flight cage and I have noticed that there flight feathers have fallen out, they are not flying well it is like they have been clipped but I have never clipped any wings. Could a bug be doing this or are they fighting with each other?
  5. Hey all just wanting to know what you think the 2 budgies are, I think the white is a female but unsure of yellowish one thanks. please reply as quick as possible.
  6. They both look like male but I am unsure on budgie 2, but your second budgie does have a bad case of scaley mites.
  7. Hi, I try to feed my budgies lots of fruit and veg but all they seem to like is corn. I put corn in a container with different fruit and veg but they just throw the other pieces out and eat corn. What are some fruit and veg that budgies really like and what can they be fed?
  8. Very cute little baby, I agree with finnie about exercising her wings they also do that to strengthen them when there in the box. Yeah it could possibly be a female.
  9. If you want a certain pair to breed but there in a aviary you can just place the 2 you want to breed in a separate cage for a couple of weeks until you see them feeding each other or kissing each other and then you could put them back in your aviary to breed.
  10. I have had the new ones for a while now and there in the new aviary i haven't got any pics yet but ill upload some new ones soon
  11. Yeah he is such a beautiful budgie and i want to know what type so thanks for the suggestions and i am happy to hear from other people about what they think.
  12. You could try on the website Gumtree http://www.gumtree.com.au/ just type in budgies and put your location in and see if there are any for sale near you.
  13. I purchased this budgie at a bird sale thinking it was a male, but one of my other males in my aviary has paired up with it or has become really good friends. They wont leave each others sides and they constantly feed each other. Do you think it is a male or is it a female because the cere is blue but slowly changing to brown.
  14. Thanks I have a load of different colors and have even more with better colors that i have just bought
  15. Hi i purchased this budgie from a lady who owned it from when it was 6 weeks old and it is now about 10 months old. She had it in a cage with another budgie that was a female and they were best friends and i bought it thinking they were a pair but now I am not sure. Could someone please have a look at this budgie and let me know. Sorry for the poor pictures but it was moving and biting to much. and also looks like it has a bit of scaly mites on the cere.
  16. Hi, i recently bought this budgie from a bird sale for $25.00 and I would like to know what color mutation he is. He is a beautiful male and has a mixture of blue green and yellow on him. Thanks
  17. Here are a couple of my little budgies, these pics were taken in summer when they were enjoying the sun. This was the first lutino that i ever bred
  18. Here are some of my beautiful budgies This is my first ever Lutino that I have bred.
  19. I have three cockatiels in an aviary with 20 budgies. The cockatiels do not breed but one of my female budgies laid eggs and the (male) cockatiel started incubating the eggs with the budgie. The eggs ended up hatching and the cockatiel helped raise them by feeding them through their whole baby life(hatching-out of the box) . He incubated and fed the babies more then the budgie did and the budgie didn't mind. The cockatiel has helped that budgie several times but didn't go to any other babies. Is this strange for a budgie to allow this?
  20. I agree with this but at the same time I disagree, I have 20 budgies in a large aviary that breed as a colony. I have had some minor problems but nothing drastic, I have 10 pairs in there with about 20 breeding boxes so that they can have a choice of many boxes and it lowers fights. xx touch wood nothing bad happens xx I have raised many budgies in the aviary and have mixed feelings about the 2 different breeding ways.
  21. I like to feed my budgies corn, broccoli, grated carrot and apples, there favorite is corn. They are really cute little birds, good luck with them.
  22. Thanks for the advice all, They seem to be getting better but I'll still keep them in a warm room for a while.
  23. My beautiful budgies enjoying some cuttle bone, they just love it when i put some new pieces in. sorry all pictures didnt post
  24. When the disease hit i placed all the healthy budgies in a new aviary that had never had any birds in there and I disinfected all the objects from the old cage, but now the disease has hit again. I have separated the sick budgies and put them in a small cage in a warm room to get better. I was reading that budgies that eat seed off the ground that has been wet from rain and damp soil can make them sick, is this right?
