  1. Hi, My lutino female has just bred with a violet male which is split for cinnamon. The babies turned out 2 brown wings, 1 green and 1 violet, will all the babies be split for lutino and also split for cinnamon? They all seem to be male budgies, I know that only males can be split for lutino. Can all the babies be split or just the green baby. Thanks
  2. Females can lay a range of small clutches to extremely large clutches, one of my females only lays 3 eggs in her clutch. They could of mated at any point, if you want to check I believe at around 5 days you hold the egg up and hold a light towards the egg, you should see some veins around the embryo. The more experienced will correct me if I am wrong.
  3. I would say 100% green male and 50% grey female hopefully they turn out male and female
  4. Hi, The green is probably male and the grey probably a female, may need to take closer shots. These 2 are very young budgies, I would say they have only just leaved their nest. The green seems to have something wrong with its wing?
  5. I believe that is a male, I have had one of my males cere got a strong brown and then go back to blue. I was told it may has some hormonal problems or something like that.
  6. Hi, I believe if you have only just found the eggs after 4 days of no incubation what ever is inside would have died in the shell if any thing was in there. I may be wrong but I believe eggs can only last a couple of hours with out incubation, wait to see if some more experienced members can verify this. Thanks
  7. Hi, Could you tell us a bit more about your budgie, would you be able to get pictures of the problem?
  8. Not 100% sure on color but I think it's a dark eyed clear, almost 100% sure its a male. Your finch is a female charcoal zebra finch Thanks
  9. Place poison around your aviary ( not inside ) and try to kill them. Put in a concrete floor to your aviary. The other members may have some other tips. Thanks
  10. I would say you have a male there
  11. Sounds interesting I may be wrong about this but she could just be exploring, she is young and playful and thinks it is a toy. I could be wrong with this see what the others think.
  12. Hey, The babies are going great, there were 13 but 2 have died to a inexperienced mother. The 2 oldest have turned into a violet and normal green, possibly split for ino. There is 1 blue opaline, 1 yellow blue pied, 1 blue and green and 1 cinnamon sky blue. These are still very young and hard to get the correct colors. This is the blue and green one, this was taken about 1 week ago and it has now grown and started gaining feathers. I have no pictures of it now This picture is also from a week ago Here is the cinnamon sky blue
  13. Thanks Nadene, One of my budgies has it and I have been using a cheap product that is working really slow but I am going to buy some of this and give it a try.
  14. Great colors you got from them 2, your male looks a lot better now.
  15. Beautiful lot of birds you have there, some real great colors. Good luck with them. Thanks
  16. Hey, I would say that they are both males
  17. Hey, Haven't even seen some of the moderators on for a long time now, usually KAZ would answer most questions but there's been no nothing from them.
  18. Hey all, I am not sure if this is the right place to be posting this question but yeah. I have had my aviary on a dirt floor since I have had budgies which is a couple of years, just recently my budgies came down with a disease of coccidiosis ( I think thats the name ) and I lost a few of my budgies. I am now planing on putting in a concrete floor so that the problem never arises again. i was planing on having a drain in the center of the cage so that I could just wash the avairy out with a hose but a friend that has a drain has told me that his drains have been clogged by the seed so what do others have in there aviary and could you please help me out with some ideas to be able to clean it? Thanks
  19. Hey, Thanks for that, are you able to get this at any vet or only avian vets?
  20. Thanks, Good luck with your pair, what colors are they gonna be?
  21. Hey all, My pairs have started laying and now the chicks are starting to hatch, I have one box with 2 babies at the moment and another with 2 babies. The first box bred last season but then a disease hit and unfortuantly lost the babies that had brown wing markings and a lot of breeding stock. My second box has the mum that has bred quite regularly but a new male that I purchased recently. The babies range from just over a week till just hatching. Here are some pics of them: First clutch greyish purple female violet male 2nd clutch blue and white pied female yellow and green pied male Thanks all
  22. Hi all, I have a budgie that has a recurring scaly mite infection. I have a product from a local pet shop that doesn't seem to be working, it will get rid of the mites for a bit but they just keep coming back. I have cleaned all the wood and cage with disinfectant. It was just a cheap little bottle because i didn't know what was the best product and just quickly went out and bought one before it got to bad. What would the best product for scaly mites be and what price am i looking at paying? Thanks.
  23. I ended up pulling one of the females out that looked a bit aggressive towards the others, after she was pulled out the feathers started growing back on all the budgies and now they are perfect. Why do you think she was pulling just the flight feathers out? Thanks
  24. Hi, one of my budgies had the same problem, I worked out that there were two female that were fighting but not real aggressive just pulling each others feathers out and it was only on the wings, as soon as i separated them the wings grew back perfectly.
  25. Hi, I am not a %100 on this but I would say it is a female and under the age of 5 months.
