Ross Loats Sale
If it's who I think it is, then he had very good budgies before, and can easily cover the cost by himself. Yes will be interesting to see what emerges. Taz, I heard there are 2 past breeders returning to the hobby up your neck of the woods. Will be good for the club up there with the extra members.

My Budgie Has "different" Eyes
I bred a pied budgie with one solid black eye and one eye with an iris ring, so it is possible.

Budgies wanted
Birds can leave Tassie. Plenty of breeders send birds to mainland auctions. To bring birds into Tassie we need to notify the authorities of where the birds are coming from and how many. Also no seed to be in the cage. If there is seed in the cage, the birds need to be removed and the seed confiscated.( this is budgies anyways and my own experience). What sort of birds Barney, there was a parrot sale just recently at the showgrounds. I know there are some laws on what parrots and finches can be brought in and out of tassie. Tassie is a bit screwy, I breed fish and can't even sell my babies here in Tassie. I can sell a tank with fish in it, but can't sell fish by themselves. Reason I am getting back into birds, plus I just love the budgies.

I think they compliment each other, nice pair of birds to begin with. Should produce some nice youngsters. Look forward to seeing what they give you.

Show Budgies
Got some rearing food today, and a dropper, came home and the other 2 eggs had been kicked out. Both dead in shell. 1 old one and 1 was fresh. Bit disappointed but I expected it with only 1 box to work with. Will be ready for it next time.

Show Budgies
Just an update. 1 of the 5 eggs just vanished into thin air. 2 chicks hatched and dead first day. Not being fed. Problem with having only 1 pair laying eggs. 2 eggs left. Both fertile. At least I know the pair are fertile, will make sure that I have more pairs down next time, so I can foster the young. I purchase some new birds, might try and get a round in before winter.

Latest Project
Looks nice PJI , look forward to seeing the finished product. I would like to make the same when I put up my new birdroom. I think I will probably go for the dividers in every bank though. Any reason why you didn't do this ?

Geelong Bird Sale & Demand For Budgies

Geelong Bird Sale & Demand For Budgies
Not in Lonnie Taz, Down south mate. Got a few birds from A.home and T. Philpott. which is a start. Only contacted 1 breeder up the North who is culling in June/July. I don't mind waiting for cull time, just would prefer not to look at an empty aviary. Not looking to buy their best Splat, but it has to have some visual quality.

Help With Future Pairing Options Please

Geelong Bird Sale & Demand For Budgies
Twisted,If you was to join a club & especially in Tassie, as they are short on good Budgie Breeders,I would think you will get all the help you need & the birds to breed with. Been in the club before Macka, and I know most of the breeders. I am coming back into the hobby, which I had to leave due to family health reasons. I have rung around and nobody has anything at the moment. One breeder will be culling in July and another in August. Another sent birds to Mainland auction last week. In the whole of Tasmania there is 9 open breeders and 8 intermediate breeders and quite a number of novice breeders, of which most are just in the club to get rings. So as you can see, not too many budgie breeders. I have already contacted half af them so its not from lack of trying. Also I don't think there are as many culls around these days. And like I said before, most of them are sending birds to the mainland auctions. Wish things were different but that's how things are here. Cheer, Twist.

Geelong Bird Sale & Demand For Budgies
Hi Wayno, Even if you are a club member it can be difficult to source decent birds. I live in Tasmania and good breeders are very scarce, and the ones with decent birds prefer to send them to the mainland auctions. Pet shops don't want the bigger birds, so all they carry are mite infected aviary bred types. No wonder the hobby is in decline when you can't even but half decent stock to get started with. Cheers, Twist.

Cage Fronts And Trays Wanted.
I would like to build myself some new breeding cabinets, and i am trying to locate cage fronts and trays. I don't have any suppliers in my area, so I would have to get them sent to me. I have done a bit of searching on the internet and found some cage fronts but a bit pricey. So I am wondering if anyone here has a good source for these products. Twist.

Joke
A burglar has just made it into the house he's intending to ransack, and he's looking around for stuff to steal. All of a sudden, a little voice pipes up "I can see you, and so can Jesus!" Startled, the burglar looks around the room. No-one there at all, so he goes back to his business. "I can see you, and so can Jesus!" The burglar jumps again, and takes a longer look around the room. Over in the corner by the window, almost obscured by curtains, is a cage in which sits a budgie, who pipes up again "I can see you, and so can Jesus!" "So what", says the burglar, "You're only a budgie!" To which the budgie replies "Maybe, but Jesus is a Rottweiler!"

Budgie Colours
You can only produce split cocks. Hens don't split to cinnamon. So with a split cock to cinnamon hen you could expect. Cinnamon cocks Split cocks cinnamon hens normal hens This also applies to opalines. Hope this makes sense.

Eastern District Auction
