Is Cock Grey?
In the first picture the cock seems to be carrying violet noticeable on the head and wings. Could it be mauve ?

Sad Day
Sorry to hear your sad news. Especially after your great day yesterday. Don't blame yourself, it happened while you were trying to help him. Little consolation i know but maybe better then being sick for a long time. Do you have any of his offspring to keep the line going ?

Lacewing?
If thats a lacewing i want one like THAT It's actually a fault with the blue tinge, just like an albino with a blue tinge. So if you want to show birds then you really don't want them like this. But if you just want pretty birds then yeah it looks quite nice. If it was a fallow it would be worse as there is poor wing markings and not enough body colour. It looks like the photo has been taken with a flash so the blue sheen really shows out. I really like coloured Texas clearbodies and have seen some really pretty ones but not good for showing if too coloured. I breed show budgies but i still like pretty coloured budgies flying in the aviary.

Lacewing?
Lacewings can have a blue tinge if bred through blues. Fallows are normally darker cinnamon markings. I still say lacewing.

Swapping Aviaries?
I think the new aviary looks great. Good luck with the move, hope you get it all done quickly. What sort of flooring do you have where the new aviary is going to sit.

My First Aviary
Looking good, bet you cant wait. I didn't get anything done with my birdroom this weekend as the weather in Tassie was rotten.

R&t's Breeding Journal
I coulda told you that ................ and maybe I did Hmmmm. Yes I do believe you said something about that. Well if I've learnt anything it is that there has to be a happy median and I will try that next season. I have tried the "hands off" approach but every day when i enter the birdroom I get a little excited and take a quick peek.

How Would You Like This Budgie In Your Aviary.
He has shoulder and how can you tell he doesn't have back scull Renee when you can't see that area anyway. I think he is magnificent. I would be proud to breed a bird like that but then at the same time the directional feather is almost going to far. This is why you have such good quality birds splat, because you can appreciate the quality of this bird and obviously apply that talent to your own stock.I cannot believe all the negatives regarding this bird, the bird won a major award in the UK & that is not easy to do.Give me an aviary full of them any day, well done Les Martin keep them coming hopefully one day imports into Australia will start up again and i can contact you for some relatives of this ripper example of an exhibition budgerigar. Agree with you 100%. I would love this bird in my aviary.

How Would You Like This Budgie In Your Aviary.
Well if you pop one out that looks like this, let me know and I will take it of your hands. They tend to photograph the top end of the birds only in the UK. I have seen this bird in a different picture and the head touches the top of the box and the tail is on the ground, so definitely not short on length. It beat 1800 other birds at the Budgerigar society world show, would not have won without width or length. I think the bird looks short because the mask is so long. 2010 Budgerigar Society World Show

New Bird Room
new shed is 3.75 x 3.75 built the slab 4mt x 4 mt .. Old shed is 3.5 x 4.05 ..So just a tad over..Will get some pics up of old shed...

New Bird Room
I would put the new one up where the older 3.5 x 4 mt shed is, and put the old shed on the new slab. The older shed is more solid and has a square tubing frame which would be easier to insulate and line. Only problem is that the new slab will be about 100 mm too short so I would have to extend it slightly. Wish i had of thought of all this beforehand.

Hello
Hi Tariq, welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here

New Bird Room
Thanks for the input. I have a shed 3.5 x 4 mt with a flat roof that I could use instead. It stands 2.3 mt tall. Would need to modify a bit, but would work out better in the long run.

New Bird Room
Thanks Kaz, I will think about it over the next week. would be nice to have it higher.

New Bird Room
Around 2 pm the rain came down but the slab was finished so out came the tarps. Hoping for some good weather next weekend so I can put up the shed that will be my new birdroom. Yeah can't wait Splat, shed is 3.75 x 3.75 although not high wall. Would have preferred a higher wall and roof but the shed was a good price. I intend to line it out and living in Tassie the weather doesn't get too hot. I had a 3 mt x 3 mt shed a few years ago and the extra .75 mt all around makes a huge difference.

New Bird Room
Finally I have been able to start my birdroom build. After a long wet winter, the ground dried up enough to begin the slab. My birds have lived for a few months in a flight cage and i can't wait to finish the birdroom and aviary. I only keep a small number of birds so as not to stress them out in the flight cage. Cleared out an area of 4 mt x 4 mt and boxed it up on Friday. Was really surprised how far I had to build it up, as it looked pretty level with the naked eye. Poured the concrete Sat morning, was praying for no rain and had a really good morning.

Judging Lutes

Judging Lutes
An interesting little video of Lutino's being judged at an English show. Show cages look a lot smaller than ours, and I was amazed at how they picked up the show boxes to inspect the birds. http://s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh201/Bladders/Hastings%20BS%20Open%20Show%202011/?action=view¤t=BeverleyHuttJudgingTheLutinos.mp4
