  1. Yes that is correct , sadly 1 of the 3 foster eggs ive put was eaten i dont know why thou...
  2. yes because i broke open the eggs after removing them some where completely dried, other had chick growing and stopped and also smelled horrible egg yolk was brownish black, well the cock would go in nest alot also, she had 1 clutch prior to this out of 5 eggs 4 where fertile 3 survived and 1 got killed, the 8 DIS, would have been her 2nd clutch and know that she started to lay again this would be her 3rd, i was thinking of letting her lay the eggs and then foster them to a hen from another box that only laid 3 eggs of wich only 1 is fertile and let her raise the chicks, She looks to be coming out of condition thats what gave me the idea to foster the eggs and then let her rest
  3. are you sure its safe for her to give it another go?
  4. out of the 8 fertile eggs that my budgies had they were all DIS, i was looking at eggs closely and they all has cracks , i belive this was due to the nextbox not having a concave, i provided shavings in the nest thou, the hen has laid a new egg, should i leave the nestbox? or should i remove it and let her have a rest?, i know its a new egg because i discarded all the eggs from the nest because they were broken, it had been 4 1/2 weeks since she had laid em, and now yesterday she laid a new egg, thanks
  5. Awsome!!!! now im exited can wait till they mature lol they are just 40 days old, they were born from my exibition budgie parents, ive never had babies that arnt regular pet budgies, their was also a yf light green from those parents but unfortunally the hen killed the chick while i was at work
  6. how can you be sure about that?
  7. I have 2 mauves that are brothers thats why it seems like i just took pictures of one of them
  8. okay so ive been arguing with my brother over my budgies mutaions,i say i got 2 mauve budgies, 1 yf skyblue spangle, and 1 sky blue cinnamon, and he says i have 2 grays, and 1 yf spangle, he agrees i got a skyblue cinnamon lol thanks, i got a picture of a gray mature male but that one isnt part of the argument (sorry about the picture quality, im not so good at taking pictures)
  9. Her front is all skyblue just like her back, she has produced cinammon chicks aswell with a diff cock that didnt have any background of cinammon, yes the cocks cere is pink , im not god identifing pieds lol sorry these are some chicks she has produced in the past when i paired her up with a normal
  10. I was thinking about pairing it with this hen
  11. 2 are fully feathered and 1 is still growing its feathers
  12. Everything is well, hes feeding the chicks
  13. I did leave chicks with just the dad, and kept the injured budgie on a different cage with a light for warmth but unfortunetly it didnt make it past the night time RIP little one
  14. today i got home to find my hen with blood all over her face and then i saw a chick that got beat-up on the face with wounds above its cere on its head and on the side of the beak, her chicks are 4weeks old she old attacked the one that appears to be female she has 4 chicks total 3 males and one female, i immediately removed the hen to another cage and left chicks with cock, i tried to clean wounds as much as i could, and the chick appears weak, so i hand fed the chick to see if it gets better, i also placed it under something warm, any other suggestions on what i can do to help it, there are no avian vets nor regular vets near me, nor i have $ at the time to afford some sort of treatment , im guessing the hen attacked the baby because she wants to start laying eggs once again and incubate them, this is her 1st clutch, hopefully tomorrow morning the chick looks stronger and ill hand feed it some more in hopes of it making a full recovery
  15. okay thanks ill give that a try in a few weeks
  16. if i were to pair it up to a ino female would that be a good choice? Because you can't tell what mutations the ino is masking it might not prove anything. If the ino is not masking anything or split for anything, you could expect clearflight pieds and normals from a dark eyed clear, and all spangles from a double factor spangle. If you personally had a bird like mine to what other bird would you personally pair it up to, in order to try and find out some back ground from the bird by bredding it thanks
  17. if i were to pair it up to a ino female would that be a good choice?
  18. thank you so much for the info really appreciate it
  19. its completly yellow with black eyes no iris rings, is it a df spangle or a dark eye clear ? the budgie is a 2 yr old male
  20. this is my new budgie i had him under quarantine for 30days before adding to my flock, and well i hadn't had time to log-in or take pictures till today, i believe its a she, and also yellow face grey spangle, but in person its like grey, green and blue on her chest so can someone please help me identify her mutation thanks
  21. how much sodium benzoate exactly do you use on the water?? i treated my birds for megabacteria after being diagnosed with it and i would use 1tsp/ gal water for a whole month thats what my vet suggested for me to do, and mine didn't go thru a molt at all
  22. same thing happened to one of my opalines i hadn't noticed the colors changing till my GF pointed out to me if i had gotten a new bird, will post pictures tomorrow
  23. This has happened to me before too father never came back, the mother managed to feed all the offspring and they all made it i would provide a millet spray in the next box thou to assist the mother in her feedings since the chicks where about 4-5 days old at the time
  24. i was reading online that with one successful mating a pair will be fertile up too two weeks true or false? and i read somewhere else that the eggs get fertilized just before getting laid with a successful mating that took place on that same day or moment before it being laid im just curios to know more info thanks
  25. If I was to follow this advice I would have dead and starving budgies all over the place. I strongly disagree with supplying only a measured amount of food. Birds needs change all the time. Sometimes they eat more than others, and as mentioned before they may only eat certain parts of their seed mix. Always have plenty of seed available at ALL TIMES...........and forget what you hear about measuring out teaspoonsful or tablespoonsful. I agree with you, i always provide a big dish of seed/food im always buying 50lb bags of food for my budgies and cockatiels it last me about 1-2months with the amount of animals i have, i always think i keep em well fed thats why its weird to me for my budgies to appear thin, i can feel the keel bone when i grab em and press down, its not noticeable to the eye around how many grams should the average pet budgie weigh? and show budgie? i own both types thanks
