They look great, all best with your breeding.
  3. What's the minim amount of pairs you should have down at one time?
  4. After breeding show type birds for the past 12 months I can see how fast your stud can go from 20 birds to 50 and so on. Now this worries me because of the room I have and then trying to get rid of excess stock which is not always easy. So I need to breed smart which will involve only breeding twice a year and only putting 4 pairs down at a time. Maybe only letting the hen do 1 round if she has more then 5 chicks, as some of my hens can have 6 and some only 1 or 2. Do you think this can work, because really I don't want a 100 birds plus to look after as I have a life out side of birds. I would like to show my birds over the next few years, but will quality over quantity work? It does seem that you need to breed big numbers to maybe get a few good birds. Cheers, Geoff oops this topic should have been put under breeding show budgies.
  5. Nice pics dave. And I agree mate about the owners bidding.
  6. He's looking nice and healthy
  7. Nooooooooooo! I hope there's not to many going or it will just make the birds too expensive for someone like me, but you never know I just might win the lotto by then and buy the lot
  8. What great prizes, nice one. And you know your on the right track when people want your birds.
  9. They look great, thanks for sharing
  10. Yes life has it's ups and downs at times. Well done with your birds GB. Looking forward to seeing your lacewings, as my 12 year old boy want's to breed them. We got a first with our lace hen in novice and it got a second in the sex linked varieties.

    There looking great, nice work
  12. You can also put a shelter on the cage floor like a small ice-cream container with one side cut out, I leave the lid on and turn it up side down and add seed as for bedding. Dad will continue to feed the chicks, and it leaves the hen in peace to lay again in the nesting box.
  13. Sounds like you had a great day, well done.
  14. It's a hen and she looks nice
  15. Thats not good news, was he able to crack seed? maybe he was to young to be for sale. Out of your freebie's I like your Cinnamon green hen and your grey cook, nice score

I like your grey cinnamon opaline hen, she look a good size.
  17. This worries me about the shows as we need encouragement and a reason to stay in show birds. The good bit is your on your way to some very nice birds, well done! GB I have my first club show this weekend and I'm only entering two birds and one of them is for my 12 year old who is the only junior in our club. His is a white lacewing and mine is a cinnamon grey spangle both were bred from a cock bird who is a cinnamon grey green opaline which we got from a auction, and the hen is from Daz, a opaline grey spangle sounds a lot like you with your birds. There okay and I'm just putting them in for a bit of fun.
  18. With such nice birds, how do you go at the shows?
