wooh congratulations! pity it didnt stay at $211, but 600 is still good, it is a large aviary cant wait to see your budgies in it, you will have to put up some pictures when they are accomodated! how is your pairing going? have you started breeding yet? alpaca-boy
  4. i agree with dave what is the point of this?
  5. alpaca-boy replied to Maddy's topic in Aviaries
hey maddy! goodluck with your bidding! hope you get it. it looks pretty damn good for $200 well i would i think so anyway, considering you were quoted over $2000 for a built aviary bargain! only 20 hours left!!! make sure you get it at the end as im sure your budgies will love it about the screws... i dont think they will chew the screws they dont look very appetising but you could file the sharp and with a metal filer or stick something soft around them? how big are they maybe you could use foam? lol good luck maddy alpaca boy!

  7. i agree with maddy there is something beautiful about these odd budgies that attracts me to them pity the dont live so long Question! why do they have a wierd chirp if the feather duster only makes there feathers longer? does it also effect their vocal chords?

  11. thanks for the nice comments guys! i will be sure to make most of the puuppy stage when they are so playful and small Oscar is starting to get along with her really well they are playing tip now oscar chases her and pokes her with his nose then she chases him and does the same and they just keep on going til they tire out! its very cute and its great to watch them interact, i have never had 2 dogs at the same time before so have never seen this interaction so its very amusing to us all!
  12. so if the bottom beak is trimmed and the top is left to grow to its natural length wont the issue then be corrected and trimming the bottom beak would no longer be required? due to the correct structure of top over bottom? also another question how would the budgie in the shop de-husked seeds with a beak like that?? wouldnt it starve?
  13. thanks kaz and RIP thats interesting to know so does that mean normal budgies beaks grow all the time too?? why dont we have to cut theirs???
  14. This is my family's new puppy! we got her on tuesday and she is only 9 weeks old and very small Her name is Elsa and she is very smart for a little dog, she already knows how to get through our doggy door we already have another miniature dachshund named Oscar! who is 6 years old and we wanted to get him a friend, she is a chocolate and tan miniature short hair dachshund. and here is Oscar... they are getting along pretty well which is great!
  15. hi all, went to the pet shop today and saw a really nice baby budgie i liked!! it was violet and cinnamon so it looked lavender, and i was really keen on buying it.... but then i noticed something wrong with its beak, so i asked the pet shop lady what was wrong she said "Oh sorry i cant sell you that, its got an overhooked beak, and you wouldnt be able to breed with it" she then said "im going to have to send that back to the breeder... you would have to trim its beak its whole life" Its beak looked definatley overgrown but it was only a baby, the bottom beak overlapped the top My questions are: 1. why did they have it out on display if they knew they couldnt sell it? 2. why dont they check their budgies before they put them in the cages? 3. did she tell me it was unbreedable as this beak problem is genetic???? 4. would i really have to trim it its whole life, or just once to resolve problem? 5. would she really have sent it back to the breeder, or was that a nice way of saying to me they are going to put it down? thanks in advance, alpaca boy here is a picture of the beak problem, it is the one on the bottom right!

  20. "zang parkiet" is dutch for budgerigar and literally means "Song parakeet" "wellen sittich" is german for budgerigar and means "wave parakeet" or "Corrugated parakeet" "maikling loro" is filipino for budgerigar and means "brief parrot" "viir papagoi" is estonian for budgerigar and means "stripe parrot" "pappagallino ondulato" for budgerigar in italian, and mean "corrugated parrot"- i think this refers to striped pattern on heads So there are many different ways of saying budgerigar across the globe, and many different ways this little intriguing bird can be described. enjoy the multicultural display!

what a beautiful bird! i love the colour!! its combined the best traits from each bird i just hope this doesnt happen in the wild though, i like to think that things are natural in the wild and species remain pure but i would definatley have one as a pet! love the apricot salmon colour!!! did you know this person personally PJI ??
