Tonight I came back home to find Thimble minus a tail ! Is this french moult?! Will it grow back? He can still fly very well and I read that they can't fly with french moult, is this true? Please answer!

Depends what they are made of.But I wouldn't anyway.

Awww. Can't believe how much s/he has grown.

I went to the BEST pet shop! It had four small aviaries for the birds and not at all over-crowded. There was breeding cabinets and medication for budgies and other birds. The budgies were selling rather cheap too. The guy seemed to know his budgies too. It was clean and had great feeding devices. Only problem is..... I live too far away from it.

Hi, just a question... what is the hatch rate of chicks taking 2 days to hatch? Did I get lucky with Thimble hatching? She took 2 days to finally crack the egg. I have read that they have died if they take that long. Has anyone had any chicks taking this long? Yeah, I know, stupid question, but I just wanted to know if Thimble was really lucky or is it normal.

Thanks. How did I get a mauve chick? The chick's tail 'looked' green. I'll check as soon as I get home.

I think I have my budgie genetics mixed up here, because Marigold has violet cheek patches and so does one chick. The other green chick has blue patches that I compared it to. Could Marigold be split to violet and Skye split to mauve?Also, I noticed a green chick has an all green tail with no blue ?

How old is the cock? Is the mum mauve or grey?

Glad he came through all right in the end. Maybe Matts bird was already sterile and it didn't have anything to do with that problem.

Thanks! I thought as much. I can't upload any pics as I am using a different computer. Dad wants to get rid of them and Marigold is checking out the nest box again. Is the little opaline a sky blue? That is her natural colour in all the pics.

I have got ways, I haven't started advirtising them yet, but have made a poster. I took the nest box out because I thought that as well. More pics. Mum, dad and some babies. Regal Marigold. For some reason I can never get a good photo that shows Skye's true dark colour and violet cheek patches, so don't think he is sky blue. And babies. I had a fright with Lexi, flew out of the cage but I managed to pluck her out of the air in time. When somebody postr I'll do more pics, but for now that's all.

Not yet but am advirtising them. Mum knows someome who wants one so that's an option. I will upload some more pics.
