Can Budgie's Travel In Planes?
Yikes that is quite a long plane ride, I know it takes a friend of mine at least a day or two to acclimate. Have you looked into Japan's quarantine requirements? Or have you considered setting up daily video chats to check on them while you're gone, instead?

Footsie Fun
They are a blast to watch—for me, And the mom and dad, who are in a separate cage. Sometimes, before I know it, there's something burning on the stove.... THK, can you imagine if they all talked like Charley though! Dave I didn't make that, it's store-bought from a nearby bird store, and it came in other translucent colors and smaller, shorter sizes. I just found it online for $US, hope you can find in Australia. Google "mesh birdie bloomers"; although that isn't the brand I have it's the same thing. I found for the babies' flight cage the seed was still coming out the bottom as the tray is not enclosed, so I did have to make a short rectangular pouch with a hem around the edges (to come up about 2 inches from the bottom) and slipped a cord through the hem to pull it tight.

My Show Stock The Flock
GB can you tell me why you say that about this bird? Not being a breeder or show budgie person, I'm just curious; and I think your birds are beautiful, especially the greys which I've never seen in person.

Footsie Fun
The 5 babies are still having fun in the cage together, including rolling around on their backs with an old foot toy. They all roll, but I can NEVER get a still photo of this! They see me come close with the camera and that's it. But today at least I grabbed a quick video, spliced it with another short clip. I'd made them a hanging toy with a wicker ball at the bottom; well Colbert managed to tear off the ball and then drag it around the cage. Watch it here.

G & G Breeding Season
I enjoy reading your thread too, nubbly. Not a breeder at all, but it helps me to appreciate all the time and knowledge a breeder must have, to even stay afloat!

Moose On The Loose.
Good candid shots with the fall foliage... I hear they are dangerous if cornered, but I guess you were in his territory!

New Hangout
Lately the babies have been gathering here during their fly-arounds, and then they wait for me to give them a twirl! (The ceiling hook is a spinner.)

Hen Abandoned Eggs
Yes if you don't shift it around, better chance of mom being convinced this is a good safe place to settle down. All my Lucy needed was a stationary box, her mate to feed her, and a far corner for her big poopies! lol Best of luck to you!

Hen Abandoned Eggs
Kazoo, I had the nest box inside the cage ... the cage is large like yours so I had the room, and the nest box hanging hole was at the back wall of the box, so even if I cut the bars the box would have been fully inside the cage, if you follow me. I re-arranged the perches so that the box sat on top of a lower perch. It was secured with the hanging hole, plus you can't see clearly in the picture but I also wrapped wire around the bottom of the box and secured it tightly on either side, to the bars. After hatching, I would unhook the wire at the top hole, and slip the lower wire down, for everyday cleanout and checking. After the chicks started to poke their noses out, I moved the box to the cage bottom and had the little ladder go from the lower perch to the cage bottom, next to the box perch. Mine is a one-time pet situation though, not a breeder... your requirements may be different?
