Hi All, I would be very interested to know when the members of the forum around the country get their rings. I am guessing that nobody has them yet, but would be interested in seeing how the different states handle the timing of this new ring issue. Cheers P

Thanks Fluffnut. There are some useful birds at home - just got to get a few more live chicks out of them! Our auction (Melton) went extremely well with a top of $3400 and an average of over $300. In saying that, there were still some good bargains to be had. I anyone has an update on the HG auction, it would be great to hear about it. Thanks, PT

Kaz, One and two look like those in between (bad) greywings at this stage. I would think that three and four are greywings and five ????? Just adds strength to the 4th allele theory. Cheers, PT

Or it could be the 4th mutant allele that they refer to later in the article. I don't breed greywings and whenever one pops out I pass them on. From what I can see there is a phenotype that seems to sit somewhere between a dilute and a greywing. On the show bench they create lots of problems. Often they are simply regarded as bad greywings as they are obviously not dilutes. If I am not mistaken I think that the blackeye allele appears at the same locus, but this is not mentioned in the article - maybe because the Europeans don't really have much to do with blackeyes. Hi GB, Looks like you have done well for yourself. The hens are all reasonable quality. Now the trick is to get them to breed. Personally, I would not get too hung up on variety at this stage of your breeding program. Focus on breeding the best bird you can. Whilst coulour and variety are important, they are not as important as overall conformation. Cheers, PT

Heathrow you've "outed" me! Yes Tassie was good (except for the slow starts in the morning) and a bit of a surprise - but that doesn't mean that it's going to happen again. While there are a few useful 2009 rung youngsters kicking around here, there are a lot of things that need to go right between now and May 2010 even just to get a bird in the Vic team. Fertility for the UBC shield hasn't been what I had hoped and while some pairs now have fertile eggs, the chicks won't be old enough for the shield. Thanks for the welcome. Cheers, PT
