  1. Thanks for that Dean_NZ that does make sense...
  2. But being both dom colours one would still have to become a recessive colour wouldn't it, than making some chicks split for the other colour... But you can tell which colour will be dom or rec till their bred... isn't that how it works when you breed two dom colours together... Geez, this genetic colour stuff is doing my head in...
  3. Yep.....and any that dont have rings have to be shown as adults even if they are babies. That one I din't know... Hmmm... I might double check some of those babies I missed out on ringing... They are almost adults now anyways... Well, none of my fallows will be making this show or any show... They are all 3 toes forward... I will continue to try show cage training them incase it is just nervous behavour, but I am not thinking it is... Oh well... Maybe it will change with the bigger perches... But otherwise the rest of my team isn't too bad... should have a good number of cages coming with me... Now just have to learn the matrix classes... Who goes in what is the hardest part...
  4. and no split rings too... two toes front and two back...
  5. I'm pretty sure Violet and grey are both Dominant colours so if they were bred together one would have to become a recessive colour... But thats about as far as my knowledge today goes... I'm sure others can give more info or correct if wrong...
  6. Gina (nubbly) and I think Gary and Cec... I think there was someone else but can't remember... :S Nubbly will know, she knows all...
  7. Yes they are Amy... Do you have any yet...?
  8. I know, well I hope she flogged him... But not the way he likes it though... hee hee
  9. Yes very beautiful bird... I'm still learning so it'll be interesting to see what others say about him...
  10. Mum and dad are just beautiful and story of the chick hatching done by the photos was just something really special to watch... Can't wait to see the young grow up... Well done with the photos, you must be so proud of your birds...
  11. Some great birds... Best of luck... Look forward to seeing the chicks from them all...
  12. Geez, we gave him a bit of cheek yesterday Kaz...

  14. Big welcome to the forum...
  15. Beautiful budgies and a big welcome to the forum...
  16. Agreed on that Kaz...
  17. Colony breeding you should have at least 2-3 nesting boxes per hen and they should all be the same height in a aviary, so no hen has a higher spot than someone else as they will see it as more protected... Yes as Kaz had said this is very typical hen behavour in colony breeding and being the older and maybe oldest hen there she may she that she is the only one who can and should breed, could help example why she also attacks the others... You did the right thing removing her and she should be breed else where but that wont stop others attacking each other when its time to breed so just becareful...
  18. The ivermectin I believe does worms, lices and mites form what I have read of Nubbly's post in health section... So you shouldn't need to worm them all now... Correct me if wrong someone please...?
  19. Some members will do one drop every three months or so... Hope that helps...
  20. This guy only got second place but defaintly could have got 1st place, if like Nubbly said he would STOP HUMPING...! Those poor perches... I know Kaz, people looked at us a bit weirdly to start with... "What are they laughing at...?" He made the day just that much funnier...
  21. Well, I was kindly invited out to the Southwest Budgie Club show today even though I'm not a member it is great to go and help out and catch up with all... I was on the desk helping Karen out again, taking members money mostly but hey, no I didn't get to keep it... :)And I almost had my arm twisted into joining up too... Cheeky lot they are... I tell ya... Well here are a few extra shots of the some of the winners today... These guys were disqualified because of no tails, so I got photo's for us Novice members and other members so we know what the standard means when it says no tails... Most of you will remember the post I made about Cec Gearing's aviary tour a few weeks ago, well Cec and Brenda just had to thank me again for the lunch that I made for the day... And Cec has giving me one of his beautiful young blue ring budgie's... I was speachless and blown away by it all, Karen can confirm that one... "So Cec and Brenda thank you so much and really you both didn't have too.." I don't know if I could count how many times I said thank you to both of them... I will see how he is tomorrow and if he or she (Karen and I are stuck on what sex it could be) is up for it I'll get some pictures of him for you all... See you all back here tomorrow guys...
  22. But wait we have a few more left... Another not happy with 3rd place... Impressing the ladies... New diet...? Wow, more active budgies...! Not happy with 3rd place... If their not being friendly with the show cage they are sleeping... Geez... New standard, one perch only...? Well, this little guy would have to be the most active budgie I have ever seen...! And if all budgies were as active as him we wouldn't have a breeding problem... This show cage is defiantly a marked cage... ...... ..... .... ... .. . Introducing Humper, I missed the beginning of it all, but you can see just how long each time would have gone for...
  23. Well, we had a Southwest show today... Got some more shots of budgies behaving badly... Enjoy... Bit friendly with the show cage or is it the card...? I'm sure I see my owner go this way... "come back...!" I believe I can fly...! Spider-Budgie trying to run up walls... Opps, should have done that before getting here... Boring... ZZZzzz... I'm sure this floor moves...? Budgie napping... Hard life being a budgie...
  24. Some young Crest budgies at today Southwest Show...
