My thoughts on it are that male budgies just seem to pick things up quicker and as others have said thats why alot of people don't bother with female budgies as pets... I love it Dave... i do hope the other half doesn't read it... hee hee
  3. Nubbly your dogs are beautiful... Everyone gave me a very warm welcome last time I was there... But than mummy and daddy where there too to make sure the kids were on their best behaviour... hee hee
  4. Saw this late last night and thought i better sleep on it... hee hee... sent mine in now... See what happens, dont expect to get all right... Hope everyone has a go...! Oh... I didn't do as bad as I thought... Got stumped on one question... Shame on me... 1. correct 2. correct 3. correct 4. wrong 5. wrong 6. Dominants - 4 out of 4 Recessive - 3 out of 4 Sex-link - 4 out of 4 7. half right and wrong, so just plain wrong 8. wrong 9. half right and wrong, so just plain wrong 10. correct Good luck everyone else...
  5. Laundry room, with door close... Shed even if nowhere else with lamp and sheets to cover cage...
  6. Budgies can lay up to 12+ eggs in each clutch, depanding on size, maturity, type (club or pet) and other things... So I would not be concerned at the number of eggs she has... When you say only sitting on 6 out of 9 are the other 3 next to her or at another end of the nesting box...? If at the other end try moving them with the others eggs to keep warm (pick them up and place them the same way as to how they were laying before, dont roll them)... If next to mum she may not be able to sit on all of them at one time, in that case those at are not keep warm will not develop a chick in them... but leave them in there as they will help keep any chicks that do hatch warm... I sure others can help aswell...
  7. Agree with Liv... Keep him warm and see a avian (bird) vet ASAP...
  8. :party0011: lucky no kaz... No other injures but I'm sprained ankle... Walking alot better today... Looks worst than it is today... Yesterday I couldn't walk and it looked bad, plus I couldn't sleep in bed either slept on coach only place I was comfortable... But much better today, so no one feel bad for me just enjoy my spiced up story of it... I know I did writting it...
  9. Thanks gb... :party0011: I had to spice it up a bit otherwise it would have been so boring... Plus I wanted to make others laugh not feel sorry for me...

  16. I'm sure you'll breed some great birds either way Kaz...
  17. Maybe try hanging some netting over the door till you do get that safety door... I purchased some bird net for a hardware store for a couple of dollars, maybe it is worth a look...
  18. I know some breeders here in WA have stopped breeding as it does get a bit chilly now that winter is here... But some breeders breed during winter and stop for the hottest part of the year, Nov-Jan... I guess it depands on what you are more comfortable with and what you think is best for your birds...
  19. Yeah no price written down... I reckon everyone looked passed her to begin with till a price was put on... She really is a great looking hen... I hope you find out which Dark green is split greywing than...
  20. All the chicks that do survive are really healthy and strong, i have only ever had 2 chicks in 27 years that have had deformities and they died anyway. My breeding cabinets are outdoors as i don't have the luxury of indoor breeding rooms because we are renting for a couple of years but they are elevated of the ground and are free standing along the side of the aviary, morning sun, afternoon shade the floor is wire so all waste materials fall through the bottom onto the ground so everything is clean. As for sprays, i don't use them as i am all for organic/al a natural. Maybe it is the outside breeding? the chicks are in a less controlled environment as far as temps/wind/rain so maybe it does come down to survival of the fittest when breeding out doors?? hay lib my breeding is all out doors i cover my birds with a tarp at night to keep warmer and from wind and draft draft is a huge killer of any age show bird i have experienced why i wrapped my aviary in glad wrap you could easliy do same put a water proof canvas tarp on across the top of your breeding cages and roll down every night it has to cover from bottom of back of cages and around and down the frount you can ground it a few diffren ways with a lead pipe all way through the canvas tarp which you stitch on or bricks sitting on top how ever doesnt matter so long as no draft gets in you must get up early to lift though like 530 am before birds awake or 600am latest i keep the tarp down on rainy days or windy cold days and i try not to check boxes on cold days until a time that wind may die down i hope you find answer chicks are dieing at all difrent stages so its hard to know with out really seeing I know your being serious here, but I couldn't help but laugh when I read that sentences... Glad wrap... :hap: But I do like the idea... I put a trap across the front of my aviary during winter as it helps keep the water out and warmth in... The rest of my aviary is closed in...
  21. I'll be there soon GB...
  22. Oh no Kaz, I'm so sorry you lost her... She would have been a great hen to breed with and brought in some great features into the young aswell... Hugs...
  23. Awww... The free lutino, if only I hadn't said anything... Hee hee Are you going to use the Dark Greens in your Greywings Kaz...?
  24. How exciting for you libby... Congrats...! Can't wait to hear all about it...
  25. I would need a really thick and strong perch to hold me up... I couldnt just post I was only walking down the stairs to my breeding room when it happen... How boring would that be... hee hee... But I did have to crawl back inside the house...
