  10. wow! thanks everyone for your encouragement! i think im going to be going for the mandurah southwest club. its easier for us, we are used to driiving down south etc. if i am able to go there on sep 20th for annual budgie auction, ill see if i can join while im there if not i will see what happens. ( is there a junior membership there?) today i tried to put new perches inside the avairy where the nests used to be.... i failed with the saw, tryiing to cut the perches so i gave up and decided to wait for dad to come home with the kindy cage, i forgot to add how a pied and Boofy are finishing off theyre nest in there and once the last baby is out and theyre all able to fend for them selves the parents and nest is going out.... thats the story from today. P.S 100 birds???? :what: :emoticon112:  P.P.S tommorow i will take pictures of cage setup to show you guys whats going on and how i can improve cage standards
  11. hey guys! well, i wonted to start this topic as i am hoping to soon by the end of the year be breeding for show etc. and have an organised colony  i found it to be a good idea to have this as a topic as you guys can teach me along the way.... nothing much with sorting cabinets will happen till late september, where ill be getting some cabiinets and be having the pleasure of meeting kaz sometime inthe next two or three months to help me with my birds i am also looking forward to getting a few good show birds as well to start a good-quality stock. the first i have done, to start of is: removed all breeding boxes from avairy. this is one of the best decisions i have made so far. at leat 6 chicks have died from this mess and it aint going to happen again. the avairy is now something like a holding cage etc. its 3.24m long x 1.18 wide x 1.9m high. also a smaller cage, about 1.2 m long an 0.9 high is something some of you guys call a "kindy cage" its all going good P.S do any of you guys know whats the limit of birds i can have in the larger avairy i mentioned above?
  12. i had a similar thing two sisters sharing a box... it didn't finish well, i wouldnt keep them together
  13. i have read about him as well, you seemed very excited with letting this beautiful bird breed. and its so unfortunate.. gone too soon. poor bird. RIP dumber.
  14. thanks everybody!!! :budgiedance: sky-blue opaline spangle yelloeface2 i would of never guessed that! i am very sorry liv, i dont have any pictures of the girl when she was young. i bought her from a petshop (better pets and garedens, the owner breeds them and gives them to the shop) when she was a baby but then i didn;'t take any pics as i do now. She looked the same just stripes going to her forehead, and shes never really had a band of white in her lower tummy. just to get me to understand this skyblue violet, i have neever heard of such a colour, can anyone of you guys please explain to me in english howw this works.....i mean, the mother of the lutino which bred this skyblue violet was violet so how did this get passed on? Thanks again P.S liv i will check the computer for pics, but i doubt any will be on there :budgiedance:
  15. i have three birds i would like to suss out please for what mutation and colour are they: the parents of this one was a lutino hen and a aqua (goldenface) spangle cock: this one i just want to know if its a type1 or2 yellowface and this girl you might have seen before but im beginning to think its a SPANGle dom pie, not normal??? And how come all her babies have spots, not stipes on the back of their head like she does??? Thankyou for your help
  16. some of you guys might have seen boofy before he's boofy and grey-green. Well anyway here are just two babies  They are bigger than i expected !!! hope you enjoy the cute pics DF Spangle and another bugger, a grey-green spanlge pied in the same nest theres a dom pied cinnanom, and igave a friend a light green pied.
  17. in your avator i suppose thats the hen so if it is the progeny should be Baby Cocks: 50% light green/blue opaline cinnanom 50% darkgreen/ blue opaline cinnanom Baby Hens: 50% light green/ blue 50% dark green/ blue so no visual cinnanoms, all normal greens
  18. i hope theyll be okay. New version of dominant pied!!!!
  19. Hi Blake can't help with brooder but does your hen have other chick's or is this the first? I had similar problem a few days ago chick was gasping when I found it. I drip fed it 2-3 drops of sugar dissolved in warm water, it took this from eyedropper I put it back with hen, she had 2 other chicks, checked it a little while later and they had fed it. I've got 5 chick's now all doing well. Hope this help's a bit, others had suggested baby rice cereal for first feed it may encourage hen to feed it if it's a bit stronger. good luck with it. similar story for me. first time hen wouldnt feed her first chick and left it cold, i tied feeding it but i gave up, and gave it to foster hen.. It died Sorry, cant help with the brooder, goodluck though

    hello!
  25. well, if you looked in the shoutbox i have writtened there lastnight about a chick that wasnt being cared for by its mum. I saw the baby hatching out of the egg yesterday (too cute) but thats not what im herefor. I wake up this morning and checked if the first-time mum was accepting her baby again. But the baby was half dead on the other side of the nest so i just began blowing warmth breath on the baby. Ad i am keeping her in abox with a heatbag underneath. I've fed her once with polenta diluted with alot of water. But are there any tips, suggestions, or thing i can feed the baby with? Shes still alive and kicking Daneila
