you could cover the cage with a towel or something like that to retain the heat as well keeping light out
  5. it depends on whether the parents are blue and green.. what do you mean by type 1?

a normal lamp will not usually give out much heat and 40 watts is the best.

  14. this is normal behaviour and he is scratching himself... he is also probably trying to ask you to give him a head scratch.... babies at this age are easy to train so if you are able to teach your bird to put his neck out for a scratch it shows a sign of friendship by the way, WELCOME to the forum :emoticon112:
  15. no i dont but its good to be as calm as possible becuase it will freak the bird out. The budgie will be moving around in a dark cage if you were to put a cloth on and it could make the bird dizzy and scared
  16. We need to let it cure a bit ( dry out ) and then we start fitting the walls and dividers and mesh. aha..
  17. i catch the bird and put it in a small cage
  18. this is interesting... i bred a greygreen opaline cock with a normal violet and all the blue babuies turned out to be yellowfaces so how does this work????
  19. Grate the carrot on to a large flat plate, finesliced some spinach/silver beet, mix through, mash a boiled egg and mix through, add the corn and sprinkle birdseed over it. They will eat it. Feed early morning or at 4 pmish .....their natural feeding times. thanks kaz
