First Ino Chicks!
If Barty is split to something else, you may get some little surprises as well. Makes it more exciting. Also lets you know what his splits may be ( I think, not good on the genetics side of it) Just checking your picture of chicks how many are red eyed?

I Need Some Advice
Hi, if your eggs are fertile there is no reason to think they won't hatch l.o.l. I'd say you could be in for a chick explosion shortly. Is it 17 eggs between 3 hens? are they all being incubated by all the hens or are only some hens sitting? I have had clutch's of 9 chicks to a pair. if you are colony breeding are your Cock birds staying with each hen? otherwise it will be hard for hens to rare the chicks without help. The nest sharing hens could be o.k if they have done it before, I have heard of it but I cage my pairs to save hassles, so haven't had any experience with nest sharers.

Budgie With Bleeding Nostril
This is a bit tricky if son has died with similar symptoms it may be a genetic thing? Bleeding from nose seems to suggest some sort of head/brain problem, I don't know if I would breed from him again until you sort it out. If Dad comes good and stops bleeding, gains weight etc. it may be okay . as long as no other offspring develops this problem. Maybe someone else has had this and can advise.

Budgies Burying Eggs
Sorry you lost your eggs, If you can get hold of a concave for your nest box that will help keep eggs together, it is placed so the hollow is at the back of box not near entry hole. They like it a bit darker and they can get in and out of box without jumping all over eggs. She may lay another clutch fairly soon if she's still in breeding condition. Good luck and keep us posted as to how you go.

My Story
Hi welcome, Chip should be fine with clipped wings if they were done correctly, no bleeding etc e.g.. Even with clipped wings I would keep him in his cage if no-one is with him, not let him loose on his own as they can get into all sorts of trouble not supervised. Sounds like a lovely pet.

Budgie With Bleeding Nostril
Have you wormed your birds Pebble? Is the bleeding heavy, is it from a fight with other birds e.g. if it's a sign of illness without vet help it would be hard to say. If you have Ivomectin I'd give him a drop of that on neck, which should see off any worms etc, which may account for the weight loss but other than that I'm sorry not to be more help. Hope he comes good for you.

Am I A She?
It all depends on whether they are both in breeding condition. picture of your hen is a bit hard to tell but she could be going out or out of condition. When you see her cere a nice tan colour rather than rough and brown she may be in condition. Cock should be a nice bright blue. Do you have a nest box in cage? If you want them to breed adding a nest box may hurry things up a bit.

New Here...!
Hi & Welcome, At this stage best advice is watch and learn, l.o.l. Mum will feed any chicks in first few days, then Dad will chime in and help (he feeds Mum first by the way) she feeds chicks crop milk which sets the chicks up to start. If you know date's eggs were laid they will hatch in that order, if fertile, every 2 days. Apart from keeping seed, water fresh veg's etc for parents just keep an eye out for any problems. If that happens and your not sure, post on here and someone will advise I'm sure. Good luck and keep us posted. Just to add mine seem to like fresh corn cob, hulled oats, silver beet, some egg & biscuit DRY if you have it, when first feeding chicks.

Budgies Burying Eggs
Not really 2nd egg may be a dud but others may still hatch. Leave the eggs in box until well past day you think they are due. Each egg will hatch after about 18 days of incubation. Is Mum still sitting on remaining eggs. If so leave her be until you think it is past the due date of eggs, if she thinks they are duds she may leave them of her own accord.

Budgies Burying Eggs
Hi, if you look under F.A.Q. (right at the top of this page) Scroll down to CAGE DISCUSSIONS. there is a pinned article called, MAKING A CONCAVE, by Splat a member who used to be very active on here. This will give you an idea on how to make a concave or what it is etc. You may even be able to buy one at a pet store, if your lucky, it's just like a false floor that fits inside your nest box. I f your hen has 3 eggs left, if fertile they should hatch at 2 day intervals so, I'd say it's a bit late to disturb her nest box at this stage. See how she goes and keep us posted on any chicks to see if she feeds them etc.

Budgies Burying Eggs
Hi, a concave is a smooth dish shaped dish in floor of nest box. Somewhere on here there was a step by step post on how to make one by Splat I think. If I can find it I'll post again with details. How many eggs does hen have?

Don't know how it would work putting all in Budgie_Mad, why don't you make an executive decision and choose one??

Forced Into Aviary Action
Looks great Pebbles, glad you put in safety door saves losing birds, they are so quick to escape. Is your aviary built onto building behind it or is it freestanding? With your plants etc in front it will make a pretty picture in the yard. Well done.

Budgies Burying Eggs
They may not be burying them, they may just be sinking into shavings with weight of Mum sitting on the eggs. If that's the case they should be okay, if Mum still incubates them. Do you have a concave in nest box? If so just put a thin layer of shavings under eggs in concave, Mum will move them around to where she wants them. If they are really burying them, I haven't heard of this behaviour but someone else may know.

New Chicks In Kindy Cage.
Small update, all eggs have hatched in Albino nest so 5 chicks 3 clear for that clutch. My "ring in" nest Mum has decided to lay again so if she has fertile eggs this time they must be Smoky's. Nine eggs (2nd round) in pied's nest, didn't think she would lay that many!!! Gr. & Gold nest has now laid 6 eggs, all in cage. Put wood shavings in cage to protect eggs, don't know if she lays off perch or on floor. It has worked so far as 3 at least are fertile.
