Needs A Mate?
She doesn't look like a normal anyway Looks like a spangle I have an idea if you want to catch her, it would be much healthier for her if you could. You could put her in an aviary, it doesn't need to be a small cage She would be much healthier and live longer if she is. But we are not trying to force you to do anything in anyway, you are giving the poor bird a good life But if you would to leave her, that's fine Do you provide seed for her?

Calming Budgies
This is a very good video I think, as it is very important when dealing with animals to use a calm energy. The birds feed of your vibe/ energy, so they will sense when you are upset/angry etc. You need to let you energy flow into the bird, I think sending the love is very good example of this, you need to show the bird they can trust you. Great post, thanks for the video!

My Aviary....start To Finish
Hi Kaz, It is looking great. Will you keep your birds like this for a while now (until you have the funds back to rebuild another bird room/aviary, or is this realy just a complete tempoary-as-soon-as-we-move-in-completley-we-will-fix type of thing?

"nori" - Sushi Paper
The reason because is, as I stated in my original post,I would love to be able to give my budgies some form of seaweed as I know it is nutritous to them, and I do not have the fresh stuff availble. We often eat sushi, like you, (It is YUMMY! ) and sometimes mum has a sheet leftover. I thought that the seaweed meal was expensive, (like $30+) compared to $3 for a packet of Nori. But I am going to look in the healthfood shops for the seaweed meal, see what I get

Hand Rearing?
What birds will you be handrearing? I find that budgies are a pain in the neck to feed with a syringe, so I crop needle them. Cockatiels are hungry little monsters, and easy to feed with a syringe.

"nori" - Sushi Paper
I know about seaweed meal/powder, but I am just wanting something I can throw in their cage. I assume with the powder you would need to mix it into soft food?

"nori" - Sushi Paper
I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can give Nori to budgies? It's just I have heard seaweed is good for budgie, but I don't know where to get it.We live 1.5 hours away from a beach, and we don't go that much anyway. Is it possible to maybe dampen it and give to budgies? Also, for people that don't know, Nori is the seaweed paper used to make sushi. Here is some info on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nori

Things To Think About
It depends how much size you want? How many birds will you have? Will you be breeding show birds or pet ones? Do you want it to double as a breeding room? My first suggestion would be getting a garden shed and putting it on a cement slab ( a must for protection against mice) and either making ti double as a breeding room and flight, or just making it the main flight.
