I have a fair bit of experience with dogs and you have a beautiful boy that will be your protector and friend for a lot of years to come. You need to ensure his needs are met though....he needs rules and excersise thats for sure!! The back pack will help, there is an australian company that make them, the link is below.......give him a little weight to start with and as he gets older increase it, there may be other websites just check them out... I'm only telling you from my own personal experience but he will grow to be big and strong, I know other members have given thier thoughts/opinions ..... but I personally would NEVER back away if he jumps on you... or turn away, you need to walk towards him right in front of him, with a sound or word that he will know, whether it be NO or AAHH, or whatever so long as its the same word all the time. I personally would clean her up, if you cant pick it off with minimum fuss I would try to carefully snip it off. Good luck, I hope she is better really soon...

Just a suggestion Splat.....get or make him a little backpack, put some filled up water bottles (not too heavy for now), and get him used to that on his walks, it will turn a 1/2 hour walk into an hour walk for him!! I used to do this when I worked in a shelter a few years ago with dogs of all ages and sizes....

Glad to hear he is better Mirren... Yes female budgies can talk. He looks all Yellow with no other colouring?...To my knowledge all yellow budgies are either one of 3 mutations. Double factor spangle - Iris rings - and brown or blue cere. Lutino - Red eyes Dark eyed clear - Black Eyes - no iris rings. Without seeing mum and dad it is hard to determine which one he is....but I must say he's a sweety... :sadsorry:

My girl has been put to sleep.... It was not a fracture or break that he could feel, the only way to know for sure is xrays etc.....He believed it was an underlying tumor effecting nerves, because she had some swelling on her back and no feeling in her leg at all, I trust him 100%, so it was decided that she be put to sleep.....I feel like a total tosser, I burst into tears....she was a special hen.... He is a very gentle caring man and he only charged me for the euthanasia, not the consult...We bought her home and I will bury her in my backyard near the avairy. Rest in peace sweet "Tiger Lady".... I'm sorry I could'nt fix you.... Nubbly...Yes it's the same Terry Martin, the book is on display in his surgery....

Well I'm back to see Dr Martin this morning at 11...... I have a bad feeling my girl has broken her leg......

Well... it always seems to go this way with me..... I got home from work and my girl was at the bottom of the cage, not using her right leg at all...... she is alive but struggling I think.....

I can't say on here what I think should happen to these so called "people"...

Hi Toni..... It all takes time unfortunatly....and at the end of the day a lot depends on the individual birds personality... She is still really young so one day at a time...If her wings are clipped I would get her out of the cage and constantly have her with me for a while, just holding her gently. going about your daily stuff............... That's what I do...just a suggestion....

As a long term plan Kaz, how often should I supplement calcium....like once a week, once a month????

Nooooo.... long before I even posted on this site I read your posts on Ommie and her chicks, it is very clear how special she was to you Kaz .....She was such a beautiful girl....... I am so so sorry to hear this.... Rest in peace sweet Omelette, you will be missed.... Kaz....I know you will pick the perfect plant in Ommie's memory....wonderful idea.
