A Lot In The Mix..
Is there any particular reason why you shouldn't put Opaline into Greywings? I know that I like the way normal greywings look a lot better than Opalines but.........

A Lot In The Mix..
I've been looking for split recessives to pair with my recessive pied cock and was helped out by a local breeder but I'm not sure if I should use her or not as she adds a lot of mutations to the mix. She's a Olive Green Opaline Spangle Greywing/Recessive...... also thinking about using her with my greywing cock. Opinions?

Avian Vet Near Rockdale?
Thanks, my mum ended up taking her to a vet (who'd never seen a green cheaked conure before) but sent away a few samples for testing and nothing turned up..... Conclusion we came to my Mum was sick and the main sitting area moved from downstairs to upstairs, Petree didnt like this and got angry and bored so plucked out her feathers. From the local bird shop mum got some stop itch spray and brought a whole heap of toys and started making a speacial effort to talk to her a little more and everything seemed to be going fine feathers started to grow back mum went to her parents for the weekend and came home to a floor full of feathers................. Rinse and repeat.

Linda_s Breeding Journal
The natural perches that are in there now are between 16-20mm (apart from the one at the nest box entrance) and are screwed in place and don't move at all, they're also going from front to back and not left to right or across a corner. But if dowel is best then I'll make the change for the breeding cages at least. Thanks for your comments/suggestions Might just be luck but the eggs have been in the same place on every inspection, there was more oats in there but they keep on getting cleaned out by the hen.

Suggestion noted, with the recent wind it'll be no trouble finding some thicker perches. Can you get perches too thick?

Linda_s Breeding Journal
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try and find some thicker pieces of natural branch (I don't like using dowel). The two main perches are roughly dowel sized though. I'm not going to use this breeding cage again as it takes up a little too much room (100cm long + nest box on the side).

One egg hatched either Fri night or early Saturday morning unfortunately by the time I looked in the nest a little Albino Hen had passed away. Some of the eggs still in there I'm pretty sure are unfertile but at least 3 of the 5 left look okay

Buff & Fine Feathers
I've seen a lot of posts where people have commented that a bird is fine feathered and needs to be paired with a buff feathered bird and I think I have an idea of the differences between the two but it would help if members could post pics of birds they consider to be buff & fine feathered for comparison to each other please?

That's another thing that I thought of when I saw them, if they're not even feeding bubs yet and they're getting messy what are they going to be like when they start feeding chicks!!!!

No problem with dad but mums really flighty and while I think catching her once wouldnt be to bad I think if I have to do it a lot she might abandon her eggs.

Split Albino x Abino pair 6 eggs as of Sunday 1st due to hatch next week. Bit worried about them though as mum & dad have food encrusted around their face and on their beaks.

Blue N Grey
Just wondering since grey is a dominant colour and makes a grey to green pairing turn up with grey greens, what the %s are like when you pair a blue to a grey, all grey, more grey than blue???????

More Pics
He's definitely a very pretty boy, even though I didn't really want to get into greywings I just couldn't leave without him, Sky Blue Greywings is a fav colour/mutation combo of mine. Any thoughts on the hen, Grey Green Opaline Greywing???????????????

I do have an Albino hen as well as the lacewing  More new birds (think I'm addicted) Sky Blue Greywing Cock 07 (any suggestions on recommended partners for greywings would be appreciated as I don't know a lot about them) In the show cage he was a little nervous and stayed in a kind of ducking position but you get the gist... Greygreen Opaline Greywing (I think) Hen 09 Grey Green Opaline Dominant Pied Cock

More Help Needed With What I Am
Meadow (light Green opaline hen) Splotch (very hard to tell from the picture...... need to see the wings, my guess yellow face blue spangle, with the yellow face making the blue look green maybe... could be a young or out of condition hen again I'd need a clearer picture) Summer (light blue spangle hen) Topaz (double factor spangle hen) Lonesome (Yellow face blue dominant pied hen, again yellow face making blue appear green.) More pics would be good.

Thanks GB, sadly no blue series dom pieds as yet to go with the mauve but she's only an 09 bird so I've got plenty of time to find her one Grey green is a beauty think about pairing her with the Cec Gearing line cock I got from RainMan Not sure which I'd consider the best of the Grey/ino bros they both have their strengths Grey/Albino Cock (dubbed B1, he's the lighter of the two) & Grey/Albino Cock (B2, a little darker than his bro)

Linda_s Breeding Journal
Finally putting down some pairs to breed this weekend. I was waiting for my boyfriend to finish of a few cabinets for me but have decided to put a few pairs into some wire cages I have doing nothing at the moment (they're all good sized cages similar to those used by a lot of members on here). I have 3 spare wire cages so I need to choose 3 pairs to put in them. 1st pair Cheese and Chalk (Grey Green/Lutino Cock & Sky Blue Hen) Cheese Chalk 2nd Pair Beardo & Queenie (Grey Spangle Cock Yellow Face Grey Cinnamon Hen) Beardo Queenie (on Right) 3rd Pair ??? Either Mr & Princess (Yellow Face Blue Opaline Cock & Double Factor Spangle hen) or Lift-Off & Shambles (Grey Green Cinnamon & Yellow Face Sky Blue) or Grandpa and Vamp (Light Green Opaline Dom. Pied & Grey Green Opaline) Not sure which of these last 3 in going to put down this weekend????? Help
