New Birds
Yeah I'm pretty happy with them. They're pretty much all my birds though only a couple of pet types aside from these guys. The last 2 I already had and didn't buy today but figured I'd post them with the rest. I spent about $400 all up which isn't too bad for 16 birds especially considering I actually didn't pay for any of them (they were an anniversary present )

New Birds
Grey Yellow Face Cinnamon Hen to Grey Green Cinnamon Cock Grey Green Oplaine Hen to Lutino Cock Sky Blue Hen to Grey Green Recessive Pied Cock Sky Blue Oplaine Spangle Hen to Light Green Dominant Pied Cock The D.Pied cock has the flights from one of his wings clipped (the one you can see in the picture) Thats the lot........... so what do you think??? I wouldn't mind getting Albino & Lutino chicks as well as DF spangles but I also want to pair them to get the best qualities out of the birds so I don't mind splitting some of my combos up if it would be a better pairing (result in better quality chicks).

Thanks, The grey spangle is one of my favs too, he's a really nice bird the pics don't really do him justice. I saw your thread, you've got some nice birds too, I really like the TCBs, they had a fantastic grey one at the show today (not for sale )

2 Females Nesting In The Same Box?
Interesting behaviour, I've never seen it happen before and can only imagine that it will eventually cause problems. I stopped colony breeding because of a hen I had once that killed a few of my other hens in their nest boxes and their babies if they had some over a weekend while I was away. Hens usually don't tolerate other hens near their nests in my experience.

Where To Buy?
$20-$30 sounds okay, I pay about $20 for the budgies they sell at local pet shops. I'd probably go as far as $50 but anymore would probably be pushing it for me at this stage. Good to know Thanks

Online Seed/grain Supplier?
They had the protien powder on the site that sold the flour too. Seems they can make just about anything out of hemp, they make building blocks out of it as well.

Water Bottles Vs Water Dishes
I used to use 600ml soft drink bottles with a hole in the cap and a wire hook to mount them on the wire. They are so much better than a water dish. Also they're very cheap too and you don't have the ball bearing stopper problem. If the hole in the lid of the bottle cap is small enough the water doesn't leak out of the bottle.

Where To Buy?
In the brochure I found it said that there will be a for sale table/section. Even if I don't like any of the for sale birds at the show I figured I would be able to meet some breeders from the area and hopefully they might have some birds that they might want to sell or know other breeders that do have birds for sale. How much do birds at a show usually go for? I know its possible for prices to be very high for really good birds but I just wanted to get an idea of the price range I should expect. Thanks

Online Seed/grain Supplier?
Thanks, I add ground eggshell to by budgie treat biscuits already, I was just wondering since I've got the reptile calcium powder already that I might ask and see what comes up. Also I've been looking around for hemp seed and found hemp flour, would it be okay to include hemp flour in a budgie treat?

Where To Buy?
After much hunting on the net I have found out that there is going to be an annual show in my area on the 19th of April (Budgerigar Society of NSW, Shoalhaven Branch) Hopefully I'll be able to purchase some nice birds there. Anyone here going?

Over Amorous Budgie
You could get him a girlfriend or just stop him from mating with your thumb whenever he tries to, thats what a female budgie would do if she didn't want that kind of attention

Scaly Face
I'm no expert, so feel free to disregard my comment for any more well informed replies but I can't see any problem with leaving her in the breeding cage and treating her scaly face at the same time, especially if it's not a bad case. Is she otherwise in good health? If so apply the scaly face treatment as directed and assuming that it's a mild case it should clear up quickly with treatment.

Online Seed/grain Supplier?
Anyone know any sites where I can order seeds/grains to make my own seed mix for my birds. There's only one place I know of in my area that sells non-mixed seeds and they are very expensive. Also so I don't have to add another thread (feel like I'm asking too many question ) can I use the same calcium suppliment I use for my reptiles for my birds too it's called Repti-cal by Aristopet (Natural Phosphorus free, calcium & vit D suppliment).

Lutino X Lutino = Yf Blue?
Deep yellow, yellow paint. From what I was told by others and from what I've read on other sites (may not be true) buttercup yellow is supposed to reffer to the deep/dark yellow colouration. All other offspring from this pair were Lutino. The yellow face blue cock didn't seem to like girls so he never bred or produced any offspring.

Anyone Got Any Halfsider Pics?
Found this picture on the net and just wondering if anyone here has bred or owned/owns a halfsider and if they have pics? They're very cool shame they can't be purposfully bred.

Lutino X Lutino = Yf Blue?
By buttercup I was just reffering to the shade of yellow, it was what the breeder told me their colour was and I have seen the term on other sites too. I'm pretty sure that they were not colony bred in the intance where they produced the yellow face blue normal cock. I'm also pretty sure they were both Lutino, all yellow, red eyes, no markings.......Lutino. As I said I was very surprised when they turned up with this guy in their nest. I suppose it could be possible that she mated with another of my birds before I put her in the breeding cage, I can't remember if he was the oldest of that batch or not (over 10 yrs ago) but if so he was much better quality bird than his siblings and the lutinos were my only show quality birds at the time. So more than likely the Lutino hen had a romantic evening with another bird before I seperated her into her breeding cage?

Lutino X Lutino = Yf Blue?
I've been going through the colours and breeding expectations table and it made me wonder about a pair of Lutinos I had when I was younger. They were buttercup Lutinos I brought from a breeder I used to buy a lot of birds from back then and I paired them together and they raised several successful clutches for me. In their 2nd clutch one of their babies was a yellow face blue normal cock. A beautiful bird I kept him until he died, only keeping a few of his Lutino siblings but reading through the above mentioned topics I was wondering how it was possible for him to come out of this pair?

Never met mean lasagne. Are budgies your only pets?

Where To Buy?
I don't know of any breeders in my area but I'll do a search for a club and see what turns up. I only just got back into budgies and I lost contact with all the breeders I used to know years ago. Just did a search turned up a club listing in my area with a ph number, guess I'll give them a call. Thanks

Where To Buy?
Hi, I'm going to be traveling up Oakville from Nowra (from the South Coast of NSW to Penrith area around abouts) on Tuesday and was hoping for some tips on good places along the way that I'd be able to purchase some budgies. I know I could just keep an eye out for pet stores along the way and see what they have but I was hoping that some members on this site might know a few places in particular that they perhaps go to that have good healthy stock on a regular basis or perhaps a breeder along the way that I might be able to stop into? Thanks

Do These 2 Compliment Each Other?
Picshttp://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry301101 Not breeding for show at this point but was wondering if these two will compliment each other form wise? (green pied/blue spangle). http://s302.photobucket.com/albums/nn105/Katana_24_2008/
