  1. :budgiedance: Is a sick smiley is just what I need :ausb: I thought is was called a moth but wasn't sure. I was thinking going and telling them about it so other bird owners don't get the same surprise as me. Now that is a good buy I might go and stock up a bit on the week end (I have a bit of seed still from the old box thankful) There is a shop near me Pet Stock that has bird seeds I might go and check out thier prices again and see if I like the look of the seed. The had a great clean store and only sell fish live the rest of the place is just feeding and housing for all sorts of animals from bird to horses. (I got my egg and biscuit mix from them)
  2. Well reading my book a few time, and it doesn't have much on violets and doesn't give any hint on how to pick a violet from a cobalt, just states it's hard to do :budgiedance: yes we know that. but it seems I was wrong in my thinking and a sf violet can only get as light as a cobalt but a sky. Since there are ties with the olive gene which is a double factor dark factor (wow that sounds odd) so does that mean the darkness of the cheek flashes mean nothing?
  3. Just opened my new box of seed to refill one of Marine and Tootie's seed dishes and the damn seed came out in a clump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking at it I found what looks to be eggs all thought it, clumping the seed with like a like spiders web :ausb: SO i tiped that back in the box in hopes to take it back to the shop but now i think I've thrown the docket away :budgiedance: Once the seed had gone some bug was in the food dish an insect thing ICK. So the whole box is now wraped in TWO plastic bags and is outside away from both cages. The brand is Lovitt's in 3kg sizeand I got it from coles in case anyone else uses it. I hope it's only a one off thing. I swapped to this a while back from Trill becuase it has pellets mixed with it. But now I'm planing to go back to trill. Havn't had issues like that from them before.
  4. Me too. Keep in mind you did the right thing. This guy will be on their list now and if they get more calls about him they will have a better change of getting the birds away form him.
  5. I'm glad everyone is finding this funny....okay okay I am too sometimes Still no good news
  6. I answered over there to help Question was for yellow face greys and that pair (yellowface blue and a grey) will give you some.

They are still strongly bonded. She might lay a few more in the next few days and then stop or you might get Phoebe's problem. Pie and Freckle have been going at it since I stoped them over a year ago and with out a box she has only ever laid one egg.
  8. That's what I would go for If you say he looks more grey than olive. lovey answered the bit with the eye. I only asked becuase if he had a bright red eye then mutation fallow would have been called into it.

Gald to hear that she is okay, is she behaving normally? Keep an eye on the egg a crack means it will not hatch at the moment it is helping her to get into the nesting cycle. When another egg appears if this one is still there (she might have thrown it out herself) remove it. Bacteria will get into that egg and could by contact kill growing babies in the other eggs.
  10. I would say type 2 My Ringo was like that with a green mark on her back but the patches on her chest where greyish. As she aged those marks turned green becuase of the bleed though of yellow. Your good with the genders Docca Looking again I'm with you for girl.
  11. There was no egg this morning when I check , since the I have them left them alone, shut the door to the room and not even peaked. (oh the will power) Hoping the alone time will spark things up a bit.

OMG SO Very Very cute THey both look great.
  14. Congratulations He is a cutie I can see how easy it would have been to fall for him.
  15. Still bit confused on that bit myself But all recessive pied are double factor birds becuase you need two genes for it to show. He is.....stunning. I was wondering if my moniter was playing tricked becuase in two picture his body markings like almost brown. Are you sure he doesn't have red eyes at all? If not I say cinnamon olive recessive pied. He coudl also be a grey-green the cinnamon gene causing the grey in the body to give a more brown wash with the green. Umm That seems to fit better.
  16. That is if they are lucky, many just get dumped in the local rivers and creeks which mess things up even more. I sitll have my fingers crossed for these guys. Over near me I know of only one RSPCA pound that looks after birds and rehomes them.
  17. :fear Oh the mental images from that :fear No if you ask again I'll turn the car around :fear: Not yet but she is spending more time in the box lately. We still have a while until the 13th

okay I'm a bit confused? Is Hansi ( changed from Hans i see :fear) still with the others int he clutch and with mum and dad? OR have you taken him/her away and now handraising Hansi alone?
  19. Think of all the poop in the box :(Laughing out loud):
  20. That bit sound more like spangle not opaline. But I was wrong with opaline I was looking a the 'v' shape on her wings but the wings should be grey toned to be opaline and she clearly has yellow wings.
  21. He is a cutie and a half Congratuation on the new one.
  22. But Bea to breed he needs to be in close contact to another budgie.
  23. Today I saw more successful ...:bluebudgie: Practice. Things were going well until Tootie sat up like normal and almost toppled both of them onto the ground
