At Last - babies
had a bit of a shock last night, 4am and all the bubs and mum where making the angry dophin noise as if something was in there trying to kill them. Rushing over I saw what I thought was Marine near the box and when I looked inside only counted four babies. :(Laughing out loud): Looked again in the cage and found Marine sleeping in his normal spot, the one near the box was Echo!! Not sure how he got out, either fell out or climbed out I don't know but he was sitting happily on the cage floor. But I picked him up and returned him to the box. One more noisy racket as I returned him then all where happy. I will have to get you the next set of pictures Reepiceep is getting some interesting wings.

Bad Week....lost Three Budgies
Sorry to hear this Budgiebird I thought of the smell thing too but also maybe a small light for the birds in the night. I know hard to do right well what about a solar one? You can get them from the Werehouse (cheapy store if you don't have one) for around $20 They are meant to go in your garden like garden lights Not sure how strong a light they give. That might be a proplem.

Parakeet Babies
Since the hen you know is a year old, I would sugggest letting her handle the clutch/chick alone. It will be alot of work for the male and he may even harm the eggs/chick. But i'm with rainbow if your hen isn't split for blue then all green babies.

At Last - babies
Thanks all. Just did a big clean up of the cage ( a bit early but felt it needed it ) But I don't think Tootie thought so she took a chunk out of my pinkie First time she had dealt me a 'real' bite since I first got her. I keep changing Favourites and thought on which I have to keep and which I could let go to others. Right now I'm loving Echo he is so interested in what is going on stick is head around when I have them out and this time when I poked my head into the box he streatched to the max to try and peak out I hope that doesn't change, Squeaker was a bit like before and now he hids away.

New Additions To Our Family
:(Laughing out loud): You can pick the interesting mutations can't you. Your right Saffy is a yellowface type 2. But he is either a DEC (Dark eye clear) which is the pairing of the dutch dominant pied and a recessive pied. Or he is a double factor spangle. Sorry but outwardly there isn't a way to tell which. BB is an australian dominant pied.

Genetic Quiz
(Laughing out loud) Someone did the math Yes I know but I couldn't be bothered making it into .somthing% As I stated in Pair two "Only half the chicks will be split for blue but only by breeding the on could we tell." You still write it up as such becuase you don't have an outward sign to know. They can, (Laughing out loud). Well I guess I need to edit that one. Opps yes it is thank you. Daz- many were close from the few I looked at but it was getting late and I couldn't check them all.

At Last - babies
Update: It's been a while with the pictures. I've taken some but all have turned out badly mostly over exposed with the flash :dbb1: But I have some for you at last. Squeaker: look at the blue on the legs Echo, who loves the camera or it loves him (Laughing out loud): Need the sunnies with that blue :ausb: Berry(don't mind the sore on her(his?) head, I saw it happen and she hit it in the box and bent/broke a feather): Reepiceep: Scuttle, couldn't get one of him alone so his (little)big brother helped out: Together the oldest three: It was fun Squeaker was testing out his legs and charging all over the place, he raced towards me at one point when I had scuttle out and he was cheeping at that time and almost sat on top of him, as if to say what do you think your doing to my little brother. Then tried to charge off the edge (had them set out on my bed) I think my heart skpped a beat then.

I Need Help On How To Breed My Birds.
Yes you can if that is the easist way to set it out. I've had mine flat on the bottom of the cage the first time I breed and the hen hoped in and had three great babies.

Normal Violet X Rainbow Sky
so very cute I wonder how the firt post was missed :hap: I would say they are both yellowfaces.

Why Do So Many People Want To Breed Their Budgies?
Well some it is still the idea like with cats "it better to let them have one litter before desexing them" It's not of cause but many still believe that. In fact it's worse becuase a queen can be pregant again before the last litter is fully weaned. Manye get a couple and think how cute would it be to have babies from these two that I love already. But Knowledge before starting is what I believe in. I get very worried when I read topics like "My budgies breed and now an egg has hatched what to do?" Yes I give the info becuase I would rather help this newborn chick to the best of live now that it's here but still wonder why they didn't study things up while waiting for the eggs to hatch or even before buying the box. Yes there is still people out there that thing budgies="throw away" pets. But we don't know them and cant change there minds. We must remember also these people have come here looking for help which tells us at least they have the heart to care for their pets. But I have seen the other side too with dogs and cats left at the pound with such lovly natures and for nothing less then the owners where moving. I hated that excuse. (for that is what I saw it as)

I Need Help On How To Breed My Birds.
First thing that came to me is that the box is not stable enough. It looks as if it is balancing on the dowel branch! I would either move it around so it sat flat on the bottom of the cage, the birds might walk all over it and poop o it but that doesn't matter, Mine did that and had three healthy chicks. Or get some screw in hooks and attached it to outside the cage using one on the small doors. Having a branch right under the hole helps as well for them mum and climb into with ease and dad can stand at the door way to feed her and then later tempt the older babies outside for a feeding. How long has the nest box been in the cage? It's a good idea to leave the box for 21 days if nothing has hppened then remove it for a week before bring it back and it usally kicks the hen into her cycle. I must say both of your birds are real lookers

Awww, Just remember if you find a better price Bunnings will beat it by 10% In case the better price is too far away (Laughing out loud)

New Budgie Owner
It could be just a sound he heard and picked up. Does he bring up any seed while do this? Are the feathers above his cere have a wet look to them? If so it means he has some nasal discharge which could be a sign of respiratory problems. Is there any clicking sound when he breathes or tail bobbing? He is happy to do all normal budgie things or is he sitting fluffed up? Sorry for the question but they help us to get a better idea of what could be wrong. Just remember we can give tips that we have picked up from owning budgies but in most cases we state to see an avian vet if worried.

Blue Spots
yep . . . . . okay okay I'll give you the reason too. It's from the opaline gene.

A New Begining
Yay I got the name right It took me a while to remember who was paired with him. I was just asking about snowy becuase in the pictures the cere looks a ver light blue leaving white ring. Is that just from the flash?
