New Avairy
Oh up date on the council. They have give writen permission for the position of the aviary. Now all I need is for the Certifiers to agree that the construction meets with the building code. I think. :ausb: I'll keep you up to date. Nerwen might be a good time to meet the neighbours. Talk to them about any problems, if any, that way you will know for sure. I had my aviary for 20 months before one neighbour complained. I wish I had spoken to them sooner. :offtopic:

Eating Poo!
It is normal for Budgies to eat there own droppings or that of other budgies. It is a way of getting the needed Potassium or Phosphorus they need. They don't eat a lot of it only a small percentage. This does cause consern to Aviaries with open tops. Wild bird droppings carry desease. This is why more breeders have closed or roofed flights.

New Avairy
Well I am Just about complete inside the Aviary. I still have a few things to do out side. How's it looking so far? I have also updated My Website. Breeding Season has already started and I am about a month behind, but I am not in any hurray. The birds come first. I'll start to pair up at the end of next week.

I Need Help Asap!
A 5 year old hen that has only had 1 round is not a good breeder. She will have trouble. Add Cod liver oil to her seed. Calcium to her water, both at the surgested dose. I would not have added a nest box. It's a bit late to remove. I hope for the best for you. You have about 3 days before the first egg is due. I would read up on breeding especially Egg Binding.

Any Ideas ? Unusual Budgie Baby
If you have a green split to blue and you pair it to a grey, what do you get? Remember that green is the only colour that will mix with grey. So you get a grey green split to blue. It can also be split to a sex linked. eg Opaline, cinnamon or ino. Now knowing that if you have a green split to blue split to ino and pair it to a grey you can get a grey green split to Blue and ino. If it is a cock and you pair it to a green, you can get a green, grey, blue, grey green, lutino hen, or albino hen. - Think about that one

Any Ideas ? Unusual Budgie Baby
Sorry to tell you but a Grey Green can be split to Blue. I have paired two Grey Green Spangles and ended up with Spangles in Grey green, Grey, Green and Sky Blue. Also a Double Factor and found out the cock is also split to Opaline.

Any Ideas ? Unusual Budgie Baby
She is definately a spangle opaline grey green but there is something else there, but I am not quick to say Melanistic. MS usually don't show until after their first moult. They do have the spangle White tail in the nest. The DF Melanistic Spnagle showes in the nest but he can't be that because you need to pair two melanistics SF to get a DF. Rainbow is probibly right with the opaline causing the strange wing markings, but it is definately a spangle. There must be a gene there somewhere. Being a Dominant they can't be split to Spangle... But then where did the first spangle come from?????

Why Do We Breed?
Good Advice from Bubbles. The best thing any one can do is to join a club, even if you don't want to breed. It get enjoyment and you learn many this about the birds. Many of the top breeders know as much as a lot of Avian Vets and are a lot cheaper to talk to.

Scaley Face
I have Olive Oil with a few drops of Detol in it for other sores. It sooths as well. Many breeders use it but for some reason Baby oil seems to work better with Scaley Face.
