Welcome and i hope you enjoy the forum.
  2. Sounds like great News. I'm a client too of Robs. The highest i've paid in Brisbane was $790 for a check of a few birds.. but the best money i've spent. Just remember i've spent $875 on a hen at auction so that was little money.

I crop feed the medication to the birds. Corp feeding isn't hard if you have been shown properly. I'd suggest taking the bird back to the vet and geting him to show you how to crop feed. It will come in handy in the future.

Each weekend my birds get a mixture of Grated Carrots, Mung Peas, Snow Pea Sprouts, Celery, Corn, Parsley and Baby Spinach leaves. They love it.

a DM ring was Father Dan McMahon but he isn't breeding at the moment due to ill health. He sold most of his birds in 2009 at Brisbane Auction. There would need to be more symbles on the ring for it to be a ANBC ring. E.G. mine are SQ DAZ 11 001 the SQ is South Queensland. DAZ is me 11 is 2011 and the 001 is the bird number.

Check the mixture on the food your feeding, as the chick grows you should reduce the amount of water to mix with it. I would look at droping to one feed per day by 5 - 6 weeks and then he should be able to cope at 7 weeks. But always monitor there weight as each bird can be different.

I know one thing about breeding budgies.. there is always changes available. Years ago i was like a chemist.. feeding the bufgies this thing and than that thing only to find that i ran into problems. costly ones too. A very good breeder, Gary Armstrong, suggest the K.I.S.S. System. (Keep it simple stupid). I found that the bird improved and did less work and injoyed them even more. Seed: Golden Cob Supreme Budgerigar Mix Breeders get Whole Oats Chicks get Millet Sprays when they are 3 weeks old. Water: Monday to Friday. Clean Water with Marshall's Megamix Saturady and Sunday Marshall's Megamix with DuroPlus and Ioford Additives: Finger Drawers with Charcoal and Marshall's F Vite. Soft Food: Grated Carrot, Beatroot, Spinach Leaves, Parsley, Whole Oats, Marshall's TurboBooster, Marshall's E Powder, Budgie Starter and Whole Egg Powder. Weekend Treat: Greated Carrot, Corn Kernals, Spinach Leaves, Choped Celery, Parsley, Mung Beans and Snow Pea Sprouts. This is fed in the afternoon and whats left (if any) is removed before night. Medication: Doxy and Worming before seasonal breeding.

  14. I have noticed with my "pet" George that he went through this "stage". I heard simalar stories from others. I just persisted in his training and after a few weeks he settled down. Maybe it's a Pubity Stage they go through.

In SQLD to go from Intermediate to Open is 10 points in one club and 3 years. So even with the points you still have to do 3 years. to open.

Splat you have remakable chicks there. When you feed the milk, you will see it fill the crop. The sugars will help give strength after the hatch. Clearbody to clearbody is fine for numbers but best results are to breed to splits or if you are lossing the clear flights (darkening) go to lutinos

To answer your question... yes you can but it's better with a seed that has a better germ. Like Wheat or Oats.
  25. There is a very good book that you can get at good pet stores called. "A Guide to Colour Mutations & Genetics in Parrots" by Dr Terry Martin BVSc. it will help explain the genetics of Budgerigars. I highly recommend it. It helped me when I started out.
