  4. GenericBlue, you have communicated extreamly well all though this post. You have told us what is in your heart and mind quiet clearly. There is no reason to feel anything other than part of this family we call the BBC. :hap: Other will tell you I have trouble spelling... but I nkow diffirently :hap:
  5. Would be good to get a few shots at different angles.
  6. I am interested o why you have called the last cock a Double Factor Spangle Suffusion Cock? I would have called it a DF Spangle White Cock.
  7. I'd pair her to any normal except maybe an other yellowface. The cocks will be split cinamon and the hen will have nice feathering. The cinnamon gene not only cases the change in the black markings, it also helps get a nice soft feather to the bird. You can always breed the sex gene out latter if you know how. :hap:
  8. GenericBlue that is so touching... But there is no reason to leave. Please enjoy the features that we can offer on the forum, most importantly, the friendship..
  9. Moderator’s Message topic moved to a more suitable forum We must learn from our mistakes and not let them control us.
  10. Sorry to hear this... as they say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. He would now be best to find out the correct way to do it and then incourage him to do it again properly under supervision. It will help him get over it.
  11. The yellowface sky is a cock the other two are hens. Cocks can get this brown look to there ceres from time to time. I have a DF Spangle white cock that got it for a while and I have a young Domy Pied Cock with it. I'll have to find out why. I do know that a brown cere on a cock can be an idication of kidney problems. But these two are doing fine.

There is a very good article in the November edition of the Budgerigar World magazine. The Article is by Don Burke on the problems with housing budgerigars. Don has had a lot of problems with his birds over the last few years to a point that he was going to give up the Hobie. 12 months ago in desperation he read an article on Vitamin D3 and UVB from sunlight. Apparently there has been a lot of research into the effect of Vitamin D3 and cancer in humans. Good doses of this vitamin (which is not a vitamin) helps prevent cancer in humans. Vitamin D3 is a product of our system when we are out in the sun. The UVB rays from sunlight produces this substance in our bodies which helps the immune system. This also happens with Budgerigars. The oil that is produced from the oil gland during preening reacts with the UVB rays on the feathers and then is digested during the next preening. It assists with their immune systems as well. Sounds good doesn't it...... here is the bad news. UVB can not pass through Glass, Plastic or Fibreglass... Don radically changed his aviary, It now has direct access to open areas where the birds can sit in the sun light and get soaked in the rain. He still has covered areas for the breeding and sleeping arrangements. Lighting that was used was for reptile with a high out put of UVB. These have to be changed every 6 months He also spoke with Vetafarm to see what they could do. They came up with a product high in Vitamin D3. Soluvet D He started to use this with his birds. He made a very brave move and through out all the other supplements the birds were on. Many birds that were very bad died. But he persisted. He said it took 6 months to see the results but now it is amazing. Birds that were too good improved. Birds that couldn't fly started to fly. Those that wouldn't lay started to lay again and over all the aviary came back from the brink of disaster. With access to direct sun light and assisted levels in Vitamin D3 the birds are now back and off all medications. One thing I have learnt this year is that less is better but the birds must have what THEY require not what we think they need. It was a very good article and some thing I am seriously looking in to.
  14. What exactly has been amended Daz? Renee you can down load the amendments separately to update your copy. It's on the same page. The Amendments as a word doc.
  15. Alow 200 mm of perch per bird and they will.
  16. Hi Iromance you have a beautifull Recessive pied Skyblue Cock... and welcome to the forum.
  17. The Standard is now up on the ANBC site. It also has this year's changes. You can now down load the standard, less pictorials.
  18. Splat thats right you have to bring in outcrosses. This is how you fill in those missing pieces that are there. You should look at least one outcross per year. I wish I could stop at that....
  19. Yes I line Breed but not to close relatives.
  20. I wouldn't add an extra cock. It could lead to 1 less bird on this planet. I usually leave mine for 21 days. If the hen doesn't actively investigate the nest box or the cock it's feeding her, I break them up for a month or so. Until they come back in season. Some times they will not pair up because the don't like each other. I paired up a pair for 4 weeks and no thing. Broke up the pair for a week and re paired the cock and had success straight away. He didn't like that hen.
  21. There are a few top breeders in England and Europe using Plastic Nest boxes. So long as there are no sharp edges and the box is big enough, they should be okay. Budgies will lay just about in any thing. They just don't give the dimensions....
  22. Not a problem... if you are missing some just come and take mine...
  23. Thanks Everyone..... sorry to those that lost post counts on my return. I hope it will be worth it.
  24. DF DEC looks the same as the SF. It is a bit like a DF Grey. SW there are only two birds there. A cock and a Hen.

That is a difficult decision to take. As I said a Stud is a colection of closely related animals. "With simalar fetures." I think I still have a colection... but am working on it. I have birds that I have called. Blair & Pool / Ganzer / Frampton / Krang. I should call them wells. I thionk if I pair two birds together that I have breed that should be wells.
