The birds wouldn't get a second chance as it would only be birds with the previous year's ring on. Eg this year's nationals are for Black ring rung birds. 2010 is for Red ring rung birds and so forth. What it does is to give the birds an extra 3months to mature a bit more. A bird rung on the 1 sept 2009 will be elagable for the 2011 nationals.

You have to have goals... I think this is one that many show breeders have. In SQ you have to have a bird represent your club at the preselections and then be picked to go to the Nationals. I would be happy this year to have a bird represent my club. 2007 I had 5 birds represent my club but none got in the top ten. The top three go to the nationals. It is very competitive.

Very Well done Splat.. It's a great feeling isn't it. It makes you want to go out and really look after the birds so they will be fit for the next show. The key to good success on the bench is to have health fit birds. Now about that Trophy shelf, is that two levels or three
  5. The hen would have been stronger than the chick. So if the chick has what the mother died off, it would probibly be dead itself. I'd put it with the other chicks.

There is mo one winner at the nationals. There are 22 varieties but they don't compet against each other.

.......... I believe that knowledge is the way to go. If you are not fully informed on what you are doing. DON'T DO IT. I have to agree that many people use to much medications with out knowing why. If you ask yourself .. why am I doing this, and eithert can't come up with a difinative answer than don't do it. I feed a lot of medication to my birds to make them better to find out they were better off with out it, and they proved it by breeding better when they were off the meds.

But isn't iminisation the introduction of the desease into the imune system so that it can build up antibodies against the pure strain. ...and isn't the use of broad band antibiotics the way that the body can cleans it's self of any harmful Pathogen's that the birds may have?

If you got up this morning and felt the world moving a bit faster than yesterday, you are probibly right... After you see this, stop and think about our birds and the genetic changes that have occured in the past 30 years and also what we feed them and how we house and manage them... I am currently designing the future ......

Started but got distracted. Gary Armstrong is good with this and has sent me video's and photos to help me identify things. But I need some time to to do it.

  19. I think there is one thing to remember, we are always learning. The more you learn about breeding and caring for these birds the more you realise there is more to learn.
  20. Total agree with Heath, But for me at the moment the rest till July will give me a chance to sort out the birds and give those that have done well a chance to rest before the next season.
  21. Minimum temperature in my Aviary is approx 8 deg C.
  22. A green bird can mask yellowface. Double Factor Yellowface's are White faces in the Blue Series.
