I am sorry for your loss. But 36" isn't very far. He would have to hit something hard. I am wondering if there might have been something else. A sickness that he has hiden that may have been the cause. My first bird died in 1 hour from looking ill to passing on. He ate some poisonous dried flowers we had in an arrangement.
  2. Who were the parents Karen? She is a beauti :hap:

Hi All It was time to tracfer one of the Chicks from the nursary to the Flight. So I thought i'd take a few quick shots. The bird far left and far right are her sisters. She is second from the left. I threw a piece of multigrain bread in to the flight. 5 minutes was all it lasted.
  4. Ipswich Bird IBS is Ipswich Budgerigar Society JD is the breeder. Triangle 3 is 2003 breed Bird 019. I'll check to see what I can get. Thanks Karen
  5. Anouncement........ The DNA results have come back... Fluffy is a ........cock. I already knew that!!!! He doesn't have PVD or PFBD. He is a Feather Duster. Quarentine over. I will now move him and his "Sister" into the Nursary with the other chicks and the Foster Parents can now go back to the flight. I'll take some photos of them in the nursary latter.

. Mine will probibly accept them as chicks but I'll watch out for outcrosses.
  7. Might be good to do our own breeding to see what the out come will be. I'll be pairing "malenistic" to normal and to spangle to see what the out come will be.
  8. ....just to add to lovey's answer, he looks to be a greygreen spangle.
  9. Thanks Karen I will try to cotact him if you have the number.

Three weeks from This thursday. Here is the current plan. Finish the stock cages this week end. Put the existing aviary on Ebay for 10 days. After sold move the birds and equipment to the garage and into the stock cages. Dismantle the old aviary for moving. (Most to be done by the new owner) When the new shed arrives. Build it. Fit it out and move the birds back in. While the birds are in the stock cages, I'll be re evaluating them and culling them. I have some chicks that have to be reassessed. eg they looked to be cobalt but have changed to skyblues. And of cause the mistery budgies.

So the birds didn't like the branches?

I tryed a couple of times with no luck. But I did get it up and going this morning. Here they are with the start of the fronts. I still have 8 trays and fronts to go. Place the aluminium slides in and the perchs. The area of the stock cages are 1800mm long x 400mm deep and 450mm high.
  14. ...and such a dark wing marked spangle at that. Wait till you see the last chick. I will be transfering to the aviary tomorrow and will try to get a photo. A definate stunner. No good for the bench but I love the colours. I'll let you wait till then ...actualy a lot like That boy

No very happy at the moment. I just finished another night on the stock cages. I finished four out of the twelve trays and have fitted four fronts. I have taken some photos but there seems to be a problem with Photobucket. I can't access it to up load and show the work done. I now have two nights where I can't do any work at all so have to wait till Friday to keep going. One small problem two of my hens have started their second rounds. One has two eggs and a fostered one. The other has three chicks out of six eggs. I will be needing to move them in two weeks. Hope they travel well.
  16. Yes they are. Karen is there any dilutes in this line? Also Jazz's Dad is a Spangle Light green but with possible cinamon or greywing gene.

Talking to a judge and brreder of spangles he surgested Sp x normal. He said you could pair sp x sp but it is best with normal. I am out to fine two hens, normal with very good wing markings.
  18. you got it. Jaz is a Spangle. Karen you are breeding spangles. There are two types of birds that get the Head Spot. Dominent Pieds and also spangles can get it. It is infact penalised on the bench. Jazz is a spangle but there is also other things there. One of the state judges had a look at the photos in this section and has agreed that the chicks are spangles. Malenistic.. possible but the wing markings would have to be a lot darker. He is interested in seeing Jazz, her current chick and the others with white tails.
  19. Hi All mystery Soved. But I want you guys to work it out. What are they... They are spangles. But how do you get a spangle from http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Bluey.jpg http://www.flexi.net.au/~dwellsadsl/birds/K-05-w2.jpg

You say you found an egg. Is it hers or another hens? Hen also don't need a mate to lay eggs. Have you ever seen a hen that is laying? It might be a good thing to get her checked out.
  21. Daz replied to a post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
Sounds like she has laid an egg and perhapse another one is on it's way. When hens are laying eggs their Droppings are huge and wet. This is normal. I should get a photo of my bird's.. Does she have a mate?
  22. Well since 100% has said they would like the section, it is up.
