Off To Perth
Hi Dave, what a wonderful trip indeed! I can't wait to see photo's. I was just wondering, when you undertake such a trip, how do you put quarantine procedures in place? Having so many birds from so many places, although I doubt coming from such esteemed breeders as you have purchased from that anything would be wrong. Do you have lots of travel boxes and how will you quarantine at home? I hope I am not being intrusive, it is just that to obtain better birds myself travel is necessary also and it would be handy to know how you have done it for my reference. So sorry to hear about your hen also. Thanks, Trish.

No Kristy. This photo has been edited in photobucket or an editing program. It's the same photo as in Budgiegirl013's sketch post. The same program as I used to edit mine, Photobucket. Colour rotate is the tool used. We would have a seriously sick budgie with a green cere and a purple beak!

25+ Budgies Advertised In Local Paper.
Very true, sometimes people can be so complacent with their animals. I don't understand it? Unfortunately pet budgies take the brunt of it I think. Being a cheap little household pet often seen if full sun, hanging like and ornament in little cages under verandahs. but I have also noticed it in the cat and dog world. The people in question who had these Budgies are trying to rehome a Mlatese cross Shitzu that they bought from the pound. They were ready to just hand it over to me to get rid of, I hope they dont just dump it if they cant find a home? I have 5 labradors and 1 kelpie all but one are rescues. I have 4 cats two of witch were born feral on a farm and about to be drowned. Why not just desex the cat? My home is surrounded by rescues it makes my life complete and brings me so much fulfillment, some say I am a sucker for taking them in but they just don't know what they are missing out on, the love and appreciation I recieve from the animals makes it so worth it! I can't take in the doggy they have I am up to my quota in the local council standards but I will post her picture here for anyone that is interested and maybe I can look after her for someone if they are interested until they can get her? Her name is Blossom, she is desexed, vaccinated, has just had her coat clipped. She has been raised with 2 ~ 3 year old twin girls and needs rehoming as the owners are moving to Tasmania and can only take one dog and they already have another just like her. I am not sure when rehomed if she will miss the companionship of the other dog? She is 2 years old and like I say was bought from the pound, she is being given away free. P.M. me if you are interested. Back to the subject at hand.....I wonder if these two budgies will have the same thing happen, reveal a "new" beak? Any name suggestions are welcome too! I need names to refer them to!

25+ Budgies Advertised In Local Paper.
NEWSFLASH! I just went out to check the girls and I caught the worst one (pictured above after beak trim) eating normal seed, not just Millett! She is on the mend! I will take some more pics later of the other hen as she had scaly feace the worst and since the Ivermectin I have aleady noticed an improvement. Thanks so much Jimmy and Brez for the comments. Brez they are beautiful birds and are really growing on me, I love to see them tucking into veggies knowing full well that they never had the chance to before. My kids have been involved every step of the way and I am happy for them to learn the values of a living creature. Once their quarantine is over I was thinking of getting the kids involved further and helping them create their own Aviary from start to finish and then for them to run it. Chopping up veggies for them and building the Aviary from the beginning, this is the whole reason I relocated from Melbourne to Country Victoria, to allow the kids to experience such things. Brez, from the moment I got these little guys home I forgot about the money spent of them because they appreciate everything I do for them and that enjoyment is worth every cent!

Vitamin B12 Injection.
Thanks so much!!! It's great to hear from others. I don't take folic acid, but it's levels are a little low, as is my vitamin D... but iron was surprisingly okay? She's doing more tests to see if it is Pernicious Anemia... so I guess time will tell. Along with feeling very tired, I've been unable to eat much at all.. which doesn't help when I need certain vitamins etc..., also issues with sleeping, memory, concentration... I could go on... It sounds like this could be a good thing for me. Vitamin D is from the sun also isn't it? Some people also have trouble absorbing this also. If you are absorbing it o.k. then a few minutes every now and then in the sunlight will top you up.

Vitamin B12 Injection.
My mum, grandpa and two aunties have one injection a month to 6 weeks and my mum notices the change the next day (haven't asked the rest. There is a history in my family of vitamin b 12 not absorbing as it does in regular people. The injection hardly hurts and will make you feel sooooooo much better! Good luck

This is nothing to do with his head but I was just wondering, would he possibly be able to hurt his toes in the chain?

February 2009 Budgie Of The Month
- Changed My Aviary
yes, it is just bird seed i have planted in the pots but my budgies take a long time to eat it. Can't go bad if it is still growing though I suppose that's the best thing!- Changed My Aviary
That is a great improvement it is amazing the difference that it has made, I love how you have little pot plants in there, is his just sprouted seed?- T.c.b. And Albino Together To Breed.

I WAS scared! I had no choice though, we dont have Avian vets within 6.5 hours drive. I just did it little by little, I hope I can see them eating normal food soon as they have been living off Millett! Thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot to me - Changed My Aviary
