  1. a lot do why theirs so many wasted birds with long flights kaz cause even bird with normal flights from a family of birds with percentage of long flighted birds can carry the long flight genetic so it can turn up if you dont know your supply's/breeders habits with their decisions on breeding birds with faults to birds with out same fault to right it this happens a lot and the result is birds could look good and breed **** flighted chicks :{
  2. im all for grit im a grit gal my birds get and love it it is needed in my opinion and i dont believe that its a waste of money its only 6 dollars a kilo for small grit anyhow many people believe its not needed and it will always be that way but any hook beak parrot needs grit along with canary's finch and pigeons
  3. that would be pretty though kaz can wip one up lol shes good with photo shop pitty im not as would been quiet fun to do in that colour :}
  4. if your colany breeding then you may end up with one less lutino if they are both hens so id get on to it if not you shouldnt pair up birds unless you are defenent the sex or same aplys one less bird my albino hen almost killed her cock today so doesn't even need apply to same sex she just decided she hated him i was lucky i heard his crys and knew that sound of mummy help the woman's gone crazy cry :} got their just in time to save his eye and scalp
  5. try a french blue on her cheek patches if it is a match then shes violet Grey :} pms 654 i think it is
  6. nathan first rule of bird breeding never believe a pet shop when comes to a birds age or ask a pet shop for advice on breeding two your hen needs looking at if she has a lump on her belly it is not a egg and could be something else i suggest you remove the nest box for now and let us together establish what the lump on your birds chest or belly is you may kill her if you breed her and she is ill you can breed her soon as we find out what the lump is you speak of can you get her in your hand and run you hand over and along her belly to see where it is exactly then how big it is and get back to us before you let her breed as health is most important
  7. and from w`here im sitting they look very nice ill tak all the blues ha ha ha just kidding but seriously their nice starter birds ralph wont get much better to start with than those i real good bunch :}
  8. dominant means that as long as one bird looks like the one you want to breed then you will get at least one or more of that type usually in a clutch but dont be disheartened if you dont as you will eventually double factor means that if you have a bird that has double the main dominant factor then you will breed from it all single factor dominant features of this kind does that make sense eg spangle and a normal could get... say 5 chicks .... two spangles and three normals double factor spangle and a normal 5 chicks will get all spangles (single factor which means its visually got the spangle wings ) double factor spangle is exactlly like a normal spangle only imadgine its wearing a big white or yellow coat depending on the base colour eg green or blue hope this helps
  9. Shepard in flan dont go that high splat they are always usually reachable birds of theirs last year at our auction they were very reasonable priced nice hen for 100 cin grey green i did not buy her myself i brought nothing although did try this year i will not be buying birds
  10. no probs no rush :} im slake when it comes to uploading pics so when ever
  11. hi andrew you have some nice birds i would put the sky blue spangle with the boy from pair one though and the yf boy with the blue in white one from pair one basically swap hens as you will get a better colour out come and be-able to work with the genetics easier the hen from first pair looks to be a rec pied but i cant see her eyes so if she has iris rings she is a double factor dominant pied the cock bird is a yellow faced double factor dominant pied looks to be spangled but really would need another closer picture of wings to tell that id say hes cobalt not sky blue but a full body picture i could tell you for sure the second pair you have a sky blue spangle hen and a yf cobalt cock bird im going to say Australian golden face but only way to tell that is to see underside of his wings as along the top will be blue if he is but im sure he is so out comes well until i get a individualist picture of each bird front and back bar the sky blue hen then i cant actually give you out come results but can if you do this ps welcome gb

  16. wow so cool id be stoked to win stuff like that i did win a sash and show cage and a bottle of wine for my albino hen who came best op sex beginner in our clubs diploma so that was cool as but your sashes are much much cooler than mine and i won a fruit platter and a nut n cheese platter from the united for my reserve cock n reserve hen beginner but we didn't get anything for reserve at my clubs diploma not even a card just written on the cage sticker i had to giggle at the bird bath in the flight cage hee hee you won
  17. well you posted stuff i didnt so now he should know everything he needs lol exept that show birds are very up n down and unless he has full support of a adult to take to shows club and to help with all the cleaning and maintaining and most of all cost involved then id breed to start with show breed birds but to get use to i would not buy really good stock untill you have maintained a small flock for at least a year as im 30 something and i still havent made transition from pet to show smoothly and am glad i did not spend an arm and a leg on top quality birds as im still trying to learn to maintain them

  19. here is the expectations for violet for you but from my personal experiance the quickest way to a violet budgie is.......... breeding a sky violet budgie with a cobalt The Violet breeding tables Expectation Violet (sf) Skyblue(sky violet) x Mauve 50% Violet (sf)(visual violet) 50% Cobalt Violet (df) Skyblue x Mauve 100% Violet (sf) Cobalt Violet (sf) Skyblue (sky violet) x Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Cobalt(visual violet) 25% Violet (sf) Skyblue 25% Cobalt 25% Skyblue Violet (df) Skyblue x Cobalt 50% Violet (sf) Cobalt 50% Violet (sf) Skyblue Violet (sf) Skyblue x Skyblue 50% Violet (sf)Skyblue 50% Skyblue Violet (df) Cobalt) x Skyblue 100% Violet (sf) Skyblue Violet (sf) Cobalt x Skyblue 25% Violet (sf) Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Skyblue 25% Cobalt 25% Skyblue Violet (df) Cobalt x Skyblue 50% Violet (sf) Coablt 50% Violet (sf) Skyblue Violet (sf) Cobalt x Cobalt 12.5% Violet (sf) Skyblue 25% Violet (sf) Cobalt 12.5% Violet (sf) Mauve 12.5% Skyblue 12.5% Mauve Violet (df) Cobalt x Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Skyblue 50% Violet (sf) Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Mauve Violet (sf) Mauve x Skyblue 50% Violet (sf) Cobalt 50% Cobalt Violet (df) Mauve x Skyblue 100% Violet (sf) Cobalt Violet (sf) Mauve x Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Mauve 25% Mauve 25% Cobalt Violet (df) Mauve x Cobalt 50% Violet (sf) Cobalt 50% Violet (sf) Mauve Violet (sf) Mauve x Mauve 50% Violet (sf) Mauve 50% Mauve Violet (df) Mauve x Mauve 100% Violet (sf) Mauve here is the breeding you want to go for to achieve your want Violet (sf) Skyblue (sky violet) x Cobalt 25% Violet (sf) Cobalt(visual violet) 25% Violet (sf) Skyblue 25% Cobalt 25% Skyblue and if you want to breed rainbows well its a five year plan if you do it right three if you take short cuts and if you just breed cinnamon instead of diluted birds in opaline yf1 violet and spangle then you can have this pretty much first round if you choose your birds right so..............what exactly do you want to breed and ill tell you how exactly pair the quickest pairs for that rezult
