  1. could be full body grey wings what colour are the cheek patches its the only way to tell between clear wing and full bodyed grey wings Cannot be greywings............the flights and tail are far too light. okay then must be dilutes un less dad is /clearwing i dont think you can get clear wings from grey wing dilute pairing but kaz im not sure on that as i havent ever looked into that genetic linkage i do know that clear wing is dominant to dilute though so ????well i thought it was i will just shut up now ..lol i will look it up tonight and if know one says anything by morrow i will let you know my findings

  3. I agree with PT here, don't get too hung up on "getting the Lacewing pairings right". All the hens look useful and with the (lack of) quality of Lacewings I've seen around just pair them how you see fit to improve the quality of your birds. In general for improving the quality of the Lacewing variety you want to get the dark factor into your yellow series (ie Dark or Olive Green, or Grey Greens carrying one or two Dark factors) as a darker yellow is preferred. However, the white series birds are best bred with no dark factors (ie using Light Green or Sky Blue) to reduce the appearance of body suffusion. Both Yellow and White Lacewings benefit from the use of the Grey Factor (be it Grey or Grey Green) in reducing the effect of sheen. In your case none of the hens appear to carry any dark factors, so just pair for quality and to get some Lacewings if that's what you're after. Also, I reckon the Spangle Grey hen is ready to breed now as in her 4th picture she appears to be displaying (head feathers ruffled, tail feathers slightly spread and upright appearance) to some other bird. she tellin it were to go actually lol but they are all ready but in quarinteene i wont breed intill im fully organized with all my show birds i have two very nice lacewing hens so i got a good start sisters also but their only prob is a thumb print easy to fix in thery but will see im not really that worryed about getting it right first time i know it takes years but im seeing if i have the eye lol i still dont want to mix my mutations eg spangle into lacewings as i want to stick to normals in my lacewings and opaline spangles can go in my albino lines i think your right daryl i think their light greens my hens so will need to breed to grey or grey green which was the plan for them i have a lovley grey/ino your all may remember from action so he will be for the grey hen that way i will get all normals and albinos masking grey and normal best way for now i think till i get the grasp also going to breed my grey green dilute to a few diffrent hens get some splits as im going to use dilute insted of cinnimon if i can in my albino lines stop any serfushion showing through on wings thing is i know heaps as breed show when very young how i started with birds but some one stole them all and the people in the game were all looking down on me because my young age they were all like 30 40's i was 12 ,13 so i stopped birds altogether thought id give showing one more try but only you guys are helping me and mabe two people in my club so.... its not easy having all the older school terms also doesnt help and memory lose to boot lol i was going to get some one to help me with my pairings like i was going to show them my veiw and ask theirs but it still hasnt happened so when im ready i will post best pics i can of each bird full body and see what you all think for now its a waiting game still a few birds im waiting on and after their quarrenteened i can get started so about october i think if im luck other wize i will hold off till march next year get one round from all then august september another round each well thanks guys i apreshiate imput and am listening to you yes splat she is bit short in butt and have lovley nice boy to complament her i am trying mainly for getting just some good birds any mutation but if i can get some nice lacewings with my /lacewing cocks why not they will all be hens so...thats the plan for now i have 7 split lacewing boys 3 from nubbly and one full lacewing boy on way i have 12 pair show birds all up when they all get her still got to gather a few from breeders homes its hard when you dont drive
  4. how could we forget the brazillians lol owch good news dave its looking good at your place
  5.   thanks lib, i guess were all all just learning im really interested in what the right colours are to breed for the lasewings i was under belife that for yellow you used light green dark green ,olive ,grey green or mauve and for blue base you used grey mauve ,violet or grey green split to blue which i dont think i have just grey greens from green to grey pairings my green opaline is from a lute hen and a i havent got paper work yet getting it soon i dont even know if she is light green or dark lol i never done greens its all new and does it really effect the colours that much to put a grey green to a white base hen and if so why do people do it all the time ????
  6. you dont get a bird into breeding condition the come into breeding condition you can put hens up and they will lay breeding condition or not but its more likely you will also have issues like plucking of chicks hatchlings hatching and dieing as not being fed clear and infertile eggs not just the cock causes this as most people belive a hen not being in condition is a big cause their breeding cycle is 7 weeks apart but the birds are best when just finished their major molt and looking the best the eyes are a good indicater as they will pin pupil shrinking and dilating when activly chatting up each other also hens will tend to chew things and bend down to cocks just before the breeding cycle begins a few months you will know she will be very active and looking all good shinny and stuff and he is a df dom pie the whole thing with df doms is that every one mistakes them for rececives exept for the iris rings you can not tell how ever he may be from a rececive and dom breeding if he is rececive all chicks will be / rec pie if a df dom all chicks will be dominant pied if a single factor with mixed markings due to being breed from rec and dom then chicks will be half dom and half normal thats just a quick run down not an exact one k darl
  7. thank you shannon i did know not to mix your green base lacewings with your white based as colour can be afected if i remember if you breed grey to a yellow you get mustard grey yellows and if you breed green with your white base you get green shine in them as you would breeding to a sky blue bird get a blue shine prob is i was only going to breed white based lacewings but could only get grey green / cocks although i did manage to pick up a white lacewing cock but havent yet recived still part of the comming together of the big plan lol so i decided if i can breed my own /lacewing grey cocks and white lacewing cocks blue based and then yellow based lacewing hens from some my /lacewing grey greens that their has to be a way to combine the two as to get some nice blue based lacewings but i havent thought that far as yet but the plan was just to breed lacewings in diffrent combination pairings for a bit keep all visuals of either blue or green based and the splits that excel in features size and ect and cull the other cocks that were / lacewing then see what combinations combin well to produce good show type chicks from each pairing then choose the birds i want to start my foundation with from them out comes selling of anything that does not hold my desired look sounds good but.....we will see i really have no clue and am starting with one the hardest mutations to get spot one but hay i love a challange thanks kaz and libby im going to need lots of critercizem and encoragement if i really want to nail this so please all you show breeders out their speak your minds and any tips would be most welcome and apreshiated
  8. loved it i actually down loaded it its best thing since charlie and the unicorn vids but then i got sick hummor and love b grade stuff
  9. well as some you know i decided to get into showing birds and breeding show birds so far i havent breed anything im just gathering stock to get myself started first i gathered all my cocks and a odd hen now i have gathered the last of my hens from now on any hens i will breed for myself with the exception of the exceptional hen as a out cross to my new lines in which wont even be getting started in till quiet some time as quarantine and pairing birds being in condition weather ect ect this does not really bother me though as all my birds are o8 breed birds except the odd cock may be tad older here and their so new birds i got few days ago all from same breeder spangle grey hen this hen was brought on bases of size and colour more than mutation and will be used in my albino breedings grey normal hen this bird brought for size also and for my lacewing breedings green opaline cinnamon hen this bird brought for head wighth and mutation to be used in my lacewing breedings this photo makes me go yuk why did i get her as she looks like she got no tail lol but she doesnt look like that its the angle next opaline green normal hen also for lacewing breeding plan well thats it for now i got a yellow df spangle hen 08 comming soon and with what i have i think i have a pretty good start but only time will tell i can only try if i fail and give it in at least i will have the best pet type birds for sale but i dont think i will be giving up to fast after all i have a five year plan and it is only just comming together

Hi and welcome answer to your question is easy..... You are colony breeding and there is fighting over possession of the nestboxes. You will have deaths of birds and smashed eggs and dead chicks. You have chosen the hardest way to try and breed budgies. Hello Kaz,thanks for your reply.I dont know what colony breeding is and i am not a budgie breeder. The cage was given to me with boxes allready in there.I think there is now one male and two females.Came home today and another egg cracked with yolk everywhere i have a solution for you take out the nest boxes the birds probbly fort over the hens and a cock was killed if you take out the boxes the hens will stop laying you can surf this sight learn some more and decide if you want to breed from then on or if you just want to keep them as pets and welcome keggy
  11. nether can i these are third and fourth generation breeding so im expecting certain things but dont know its a test on myself i have set to see if my genetic knowledge is on par their should be some nice little suprize packets in their and depending if my call on my birds colours and mutations are correct or not will depend on the results this is what im testing if i am correct in my colours and mutations as if im not the expectations change
  12. yes i agree i love this age sooooo cute it at this age i tame up any that i know i will be selling due to either colour or sex mutation ect that way if some one wants a tame pet its tame by time its out and if just for aviary its nice to have birds that are not frightened when you come in and out some even come and greet you due to being handled in nest the chicks are all cute her are some just came out nest box these ones came out today with their foster mum and dad lacewing hen and grey /opaline cock all these chicks above will be for sale some already have new homes awaiting them (only the ones out the nest the younger ones in last post have not been decided on as the are not even feathered yet ) i will most probably keep more than half of them ones
  13. very well said kaz you can always word things so in context where's i have a tad of trouble this has ended up being a very educational post for all of us
  14. you are lucky you have found a good vet it was a good move to take her with her lose of condition it doesnt sound good but the vet will give you a proper diagnoses and she can be treated proply do not forget to ask if the flock needs treating or what not as if it is something more departmental than just eye thing the others would have been exposed to this before she was quarinteened just as they look all good does not mean they are not carrying something so dont hesitate to ask him anything good luck mate
  15. Do you know what the albino cock is masking? I would wager he is masking opaline, or at least split to it. dean the parentage of these birds is a Opaline spangled violet dominant pied hen and a sky blue normal/Opaline / rec pied cock the albino cock is its foster father only, as is the lacewing hen their foster mum the the chicks are both opaline spangles one sky blue the other sky violet the one pitcured her is the sky violet chick i think they are both hens they are all just pet type chicks bar the grey greens but all are from show breed lines bar two cocks which i breed myself from a mix pet and show type breeding thanks reene they are all good size and i love the albino he is so cute well i think he is a he and the other a hen
  16. sorry not my intention but i do think their are people who treat their birds worse than our Philippine friend and yes birds are being bred young but this is as he has stated how things have been his whole life generation to generation he has joined our forum to enhance his knowledge and share with us his breeding experiences and he has been ridiculed with out thought no one gave thought to his culture or his reasons for breeding birds in such large quantatys you can see he cares for his birds through the clenleness of his flight yes they lack perches to fly to and from yes they are breed to young and yes its for money not for enjoyment but obviously to join our forum in the first place ( apart from trying to get us to send birds over seas ) he has a love of them the same as us to sit here as we do and read others experiences and knowledge i can not apologize for others words and quick judgment and i meant every word i wrote and i only hope he reads this post and understands that we were all just a bit shocked by the idea of a baby being breed so soon if i could say sorry for a few things said i would but i can not its all been peoples views and opinions that is up to them if they see it fit but what i can say is please do not leave our forum please i only hope you strive to change the future in your bird businesses over in your country ,even if it is only you that changes thats 450 birds treated more humanely than they were add some perches in the form of tree branches to your larger flight the birds will love it as will you when you see them all nestled amongst them as if they were wild and free ,you will see the real beautie and nature's of our little feathered friends if you do this as they grined the bark chew the leaves and hang upside down playing your larer flights have the room why not give it a try you just grab a big branch of a tree and drag it inside the flight stand it up right as if it was growing tie it to the flight to steady it and watch the birds have the time of their lives if you do please some pictures would be great id love to see your birds doing what comes natural to them out in the wild and mate you wont regrete putting them in it will bring a smile to your face just sitting watching them believe me its worth the small effort of getting a fresh branch ,...just be sure its safe for the birds and not poisonis
  17. well i hope this works here are the rest of pics if i can do it this way guess i will find out grey green normal if a cock its /ino if hen its not second grey green chick the light green spangle sister or brother of two above here are the grey spangles other chicks, which she is raising with ...these three above chicks a opaline hen and a spangle these chicks range from just under three weeks to two weeks old thats it for now if anyone has idea on sexes i would much appreciate the input cheers

  22. Casper an albino (parentage unknown) and Mocha a skyblue YF2 rec. pied cinnamon spangle nice birds the cock seems to have very dark eyes in picture are his eyes pink and where is his iris rings i dont see any u can not predict an out come when you do not know heritage of a bird especially an albino he could be masking anything be split to anything who knows but they should be lovely and all cocks split ino and cocks split cinn if the albino is not masking cinnimon or split to cinn if he is you could get cinniman chicks also if he is split only some will be cinn if he is cin you will get all cin chicks you could get a albino hens and could be masking normal wing or spangle and all birds will be split rec pie some mabe split grey wing as the mother is split grey wing but you wont know which ones intill breeding so some will be split rec pied and grey wing if your lucky and some chicks will be spangle and some norm so rezult could be (as i dont know fathers history spangle and normal chicks cocks /ino/rec pie /cinnimon if your lucky some split greywing hens /rec pie and if lucky /grey wing ino hens thats if dad is not cinn or /cinn and is masking normal their is so many out comes pos if he is spangle (masking) you could end up with df spangles and spangles and normals so...to find out what he is masking you need to breed him to a hen of normal wings or you will never know his real mutation under that lovely white coat best of luck thats one cocktail you have their
  23. i agree with all this however i have a book called breeding budgerigars by cessa feyerabend and dr matthew m. vriends and theirs a bit on inos that says some albinos have been reported that are not sex linked personally i belive its just as nobody knew the true family inheritance from early generations they are saying these none sex linked albinos can be showen at shows under clear fellow whites it also states that breeding a white fellow cock with a albino hen all the young will be black eyed normal coloured young as the albino sl gene the gene for red eye and feathers with out pigment are situated in a sex chromosme ,while in the white fellow they are in the normal chromosomes the gene responsible for the red eyes and lack of pigmentation in feathers will combine with the normal gene and therefore will produce normally coloured young but we all know this my point being that the gene must be in the fathers history some where he has to be / albino as does his father and his other family members down the line on the males side if their has been no albino hens in this line for years if you breed birds with say three sex linkages not all the young come out with both sex linkage they divide, so say you breed cinnamon hen with a albino /lacewing cock you get normal cocks/cinnamon cocks /ino albino hens and lacewing hens and cinnamon /lacewing cocks as you see not all the /s are the same its as some sex linkages overide others so as these chicks come from splits in first place (father being albino/lacewing) the chicks them selfs may only pass on one of the characteristics mabe this bird came from cinnamon breedings as well farther down his history and the cinnamon has just over riden the genes untill now ?? just an idea im probbly way off you did say something about lines of normals so,, love to find out out come of his fathers breeding to the hen now placed with
  24. I don't think it matters GB. I think they'd appreciate anything I'm not sure what they have at the moment, but they do want as much variety as possible... but again, anything most welcome!... and Holland!!! nice! will get on to it may even be able to get some from India we have a malty cultural family grease also a big possability how ever you spell it Macedonian actually i will make some calls
  25. and to those asking where the babies to be bred are kept , they'll stay there for six months (which is CRUEL and not following YOUR STANDARDS) until ready for breeding. As a breeder and a businessman I need to separate the birds to be bred from birds to be picked up by pet stores. Hope this is spacious enough for you all . sorry if you think we are all putting you down i for one am not however your and you alone have the power to change the way things are done over their in your contry i relize that theses birds feed you and your familey i also relize that your contrys standards are diffrent and as far as breeding in your contry you are one of the ones that do actually care for your birds that is clear to me as i can see the cleanliness the veggies and the fact that the birds are not wasted or inbreed to point that they are showing sighns of feather mutating its up to you to others and teach your children when they take your place as a breeder to support their family and you when your older just because somethings allowed does not make it right no matter what contry or standed regulations you your self have the power to change this as being a large breeder you could show others in the buissness in your country that in waitting the bit longer to breed your birds will be healthyer and you will make more money for your family as this will mean more birds less lose and healthyer larger chicks we in Australia do not have a rule when to breed our birds it is our choice chosen by each individual one of us and believe me not every one here has their birds interest at heart and as i stated do not treat their birds as you do( clean) im not saying you do not care for your birds i am saying you could change the whole breeding system around in your country by incorraging the breeding of birds at a more mature age you seem to care enough about them to clean them and i only suggested you give breeding older birds a go look at the out come and rezults see the benifits of this and slowly take it on over the months you wont even see the decline in money as the birds that you put up at 12 months of age will produce more chicks in their clutches than the ones you put up at 6 months of age us Australians dont see the difficulty's you have in keeping your family's above but in saying this we are not much better off our-selfs we also struggle to feed our family's and keep them housed we here on this forum have strong beliefs about the age birds should be breed as we truly hold a love of these little birds beyond the fact that we may make a dollar here or their most of us breed our birds for enjoyment and the pleasure of seeing some one else find a haplessness in these little birds beautiful personality they bring joy into our lifes not money and thus we will see you in a complete different light im sorry you feel we are against you we are not against you we are against the thought of our dear little friends being over breed and mass produced with out thought of their individual needed s for a bit of space and rest and why .....for money ,we talk to our birds we sit with them *** we even name them if something goes wrong we take them to the vet if they die most of us burry them in the ground ,you probably just toss their little bodys in the bin with disregared you would not understand our way of thinking about these little birds just as we wont ever understand how money could mean more to you then their life span as breeding them so young can only be detrimental to them not a benefit we here on our forum have people who have gone with out certain things just to pay a vet bill this would never even cross your mind in your contry it is the diffrence between our cultures but in saying that our forum is world wide it is a shame you wont even give breeding your birds at a latter age as the benefits to you your family and your birds would be greater ,you also could start a new business regin as when people catch on that you are making more profit and more birds ,they two will want this extra income and in this could change the whole way in which your contry breeds and houses its stock it takes one pebble in a river bed to flow free and soon enough the rest will flow with it . why not try being that pebble
