  1. may i say you must of got your clearbody hen coming out of condition rather than in may suggest if you have a nest move her two fertile ones their then after 13 days i have been told it is take the rest of infertile eggs away and leave her with cock to restart a clutch if you let her start to rear a clutch now she may pluck or try to toss chicks out half way so she can start to relay when shes back in condition again just sugestion something i do if i find ive chosen a hen on end of condition accidentally fertility maybeen not good as of that
  2. A lot of tyers kickers & maybe 29 Serious Buyers & a few looking to pick up a bargain. what do you think a bargain at this auction would be macker being realistic knowing you are only taking a ball figure of what you yourself believe a bargain here at this auction would be i think more than 30 real buyers going yes lots lookers but more than 30 true bidders i think
  3. maddy i have a few little molters right now inside im taming you can give away as pets you just need to explain their extra needs i tame all my frenchies as pets and then gift them to loving homes most grow flights all way back and become most adorable pets so tame this way as they start of floor dwellers and depend on you to carry them here their sit them her n their and then when flights grow in the trust you so fully they come to you without issues bond is always good with molters they love snuggles most you can tell if they are beond growing flights back by 2 weeks as they start to grow in quiet fast but regardless of if they do or dont if the birds healthy in every other way i see no reason it can not be a great companion just write a special needs certificate of adoption to go with it some the little ones ive gifted had become very loved and all now fly freely in their new homes one took 6 months before flights grew in i told them he would never actually get any he was that bad and id had him 4 months myself first as pet but he did just took a while as for your breeding i would take matts advice and if this made no change then stop breeding it could be a case of dehydration in the chick dehydration causes feathers to drop out over few days after leaving nest if chick does not get enough water fed to it from mum n dad but does sound like fm either way just any you rehome make clear that they can never be breed inside pet only even if they recover
  4. great love to see them
  5. im glad to see you found help mate good help by sounds good luck breeding see you on the benches
  6. glad you did take the effort to send droppings n seed away great result mate best luck from now on
  7. thanks guys i do know theirs good people out their thats not what im meaning i just guess i expected like fordmob that i would make some friends that i could see out of club/shows as well now and again not all time i mean i like to be alone anyway but be nice to chat i dont know i do have few good mates from other clubs and some you guys on here but its hard when most are so far away and i myself can not drive and its a actually i cant drive not just haven't bothered to get license its due to my working memory not really working to well i just would be a danger to others and myself so i feel not drivings safe for all as if i was to be driving and then just tune into something else im doing well could be bad i know that sounds really dumb but im quiet happy to admit im a bit of a dreamer and quiet often drift into my own place just not practical if your driving to risk just drifting of and sometimes i just zone out i see something or start thinking of something and zooooooooooonnnnnnnneee so i wont risk driving never plus my left n right are backwards so ... i got my 4th live chick today and another two didnt make it one had neck twisted wrong way and other well just stopped pipping so 3 for the light green hen now and was a little albino that i lost with twisted neck grr two pink eyes dead one black eye alive in one egg left to hatch please make it pink eye please in if not well at least make it a cock bird lol
  8. you not comming any more kaz thats sad i was looking forward to seeing you for the day im going to go if i can find a lift that is
  9. well today i have still only three jelly beans new though ..the sky blue splat hen has started ;laying again ...and has not eatten the new egg i had left three duds in with her which she has been just pushing aside but today she was sitting on them and her new egg so im hopeing if she lays more ill move the duds out as she lays new ones also i think im going to not bother with the birds past 08 any more as all the Older cock birds are just laying duds i may stick them out the other aviary try them mid next year but right now i am happy with the birds im producing with out these better cocks so... since i have not gotten anything from them in first place except the df dom boy got two chicks from two hens but both chicks are average worth keeping blood line wise but not better than mum and dad and one chick from the grey op dom shes nice but i have better and since that's all i have from them i wont know what im missing will i so i just feel last two breeding seasons ive done my best to use these same three older cocks to get something yet nothing and im just slowing myself down im going to start to save up every spare penny and bring in two cock birds to run over my best breed hens but in-till then im very contented just puddling along with what im doing playing with different matings so on i dont get much help anymore from my mentor hes been busy himself still pops in takes a look but maybe every few months now so i dont have that person to turn to and ask what do you think about this or what you think i should do here and i guess im not as motivated as theirs no one to talk to about it all over coffee so its just get up go out feed water clean day in day out my hearts not in it much at moment either as im starting to realize showing birds really isnt that clean cut after all and what i believed to be an honest hobby is turning out to me to be a fraud ...im not going to stop just its never going to become the achieved dream i dreamed id achieve if that makes sense so my drive to strive has just lessened and i feel im just going to plod now before i become totally dis heartened altogether slowly my appreciation for these lovely birds is dissipating and i think i am starting to see more beauty in the smaller original pet type budgies and im just trying to work out if its the birds im seeing as ugly or the people behind breeding them and until i find my answer i wont know if i want to go back to breeding pets or if i will continue the show birds but without much involvement in the clubs and showing after all i joined a club to find people i could enjoy a common interest with however im feeling more alone in doing this that when i actually was not in a club at all
  10. kaz benny breeds in separate cabinets he is very dedicated too his birds his mum n dad are very supportive of him and as you said pics would be good or at least a detail description of the area birds are in is their signs of mice benny are the birds in a room out in open whats the weather been like have they all got the calcium and iodine blocks ect ect we do need more info mate hen could of been just out condition layed but came back in so kicked em out to re nest more info would be helpful
  11. some people spray their eggs to moisen them to help hatch if they seem bit dry some breath on them their breath (i belive this riskes germs from us) me i give wet grass or wet spinich to roll on if they want as hen wont do it if she doesntneed the eggs moisened but will if she does i got a new chick with the opaline green x possable split lacewing black eyes and fed i also brought a folder to hold my paper work its got opening and closing binder so i can get them little books and maybe organize my stock starting with the new chicks hatched
  12. well today one chick from my albino x grey /ino chick hatched , mum has fed it the opline light green and grey possable / lacewing eggs look over cooked butwill see i moved two of them to my sky blue hen leaving three eggs with her one hatched but died before out shell i put wet grass in cage so hen couldroll on itand moisen eggs fingers crossed but im not holding my breath all my dom pied eggs are as suspected infertile and well i have mixed up my eggs a bit and truly have no clue where some are but hey they are their and are firtile so im just happy if they hatch i really struggle to keep written records im so trying to find a system that works for me but with my head i cant i do have everything recorded but omg **** everywheredont sk me to find it lol im going to change this when i feel my birds are actually getting better but for now im just happy to visually remember i got good visual memoryfor who had who so its okay i guess not best thoough if someone wanted a family line anyway things starting to hatch so getting bit exiting now
  13. I have lost three budgies in the past to hangings from fringes on the end of rope perches in the aviary....anything with a fringe longer than one inch or 25mm will catch a budgie...........two of mine were found hung by the fringing tight around the neck...the other caught his wing and flapped frantically till it died from the stress of it. Now anything like that the fringing gets cut off real short. until the first time you find one hung by the neck and dead. Do yourself a favour ...go into the aviary and cut off the fringing. i agree with kaz i had rope swing with tassels i always told kaz nar its all good two years it was all good then i had a visitor (from forum ) they came to get some birds and when we went into flight we were faced with a young bird leg stuck in rope tassels i was so so ashamed i didnt listen to kaz in first place the bird was tangled almost broke his leg i was just lucky as was he rope swing is now gone all together cut the tassels please

  19. birds will survive on just seed and water and veggies but they also need iodine and calcium block or they will run down so fast i when i breed my pets only ever gave veg daily seed but all types i do here and iodine and calcium blocks show birds are a whole new world believe me

  21. welcome to budgie land sound beautiful any chance of a few pics we all love pics
  22. well im just going to say this THANK YOU KAZ i was like omg i really dont understand why people breed then ask questions latter i mean okay i to still ask questions but their is basic guidelines all should know before even deciding to breed Nathan no one is picking on you and their is many that come here and are told same thing so dont feel pin pointed but just go to a library and grab a book called john scobles budgerigars you will will lean enough in that to then come back here and understand all of the information on here that if you read it fully you will just about know everything alot of very knowledgeable people on her both advanced breeders and a few learning ones that know their stuff to
  23. love that last picture its like they are hugging
  24. hi guys i have been trying to up load the photo of the boy who busted his balls all week but my photo buckets playing up i need to make a new account ive reached my limit macka i too am alarmed and never seen or heard of it before i have been getting giggled at quiet abit when i ask others about it lol but hey on a good note two of the three eggs are fertile so with some luck they will go full term and he wouldn't have bussed his balls for nothing one was broken buy the foster hen sadly so only the two left she did lay one more egg today so i really doubt its fertile but i can hope i introduced a new cock to her and clossed of the nest 4 days ago she layed one egg on ground that broke it would of had better chance of being fertile from the cinnamon cock so but thats life she took to her new cock great so fingers crossed im not bothered if she lays a few infertile eggs ill let her finish round sit for 13 days then remove any infertile eggs then wait for second clutch okay so an update on everything else i took out my cobalt cf1 older hen her cock was caught egg faced i dont think she had anything to do with it as shes always sat well exept shes nevr hatched anything always addles the eggs or they dis so i moved her eggs to another hen and put fertile eggs under her that were layed at same time but the next day all the good eggs were smashed all lacewing eggs too bigger and all her eggs were clear agrrr that would be right here i was thinking put a young cock with her i cant lose wrong then theirs my splat hens chick i could kill her omg i have never had a hen pi s me off so much first egg layed out og nest cracked on cage floor so then i put sawdust down on floor then she lays in box but eats it then i give marble she kicks out of nest then i try two marbles still she kicked them out she lays again next day and its gone before i get their so next i wait i wait till i see egg sitting low ready to lay i watch as she goes into box i check in hour yep bum pulsating vent widening great i think i sit i wait i sit and wait hoping to see her leave nest to do her after egg poo two hours pass no hen i look again still laying okay i go away i comeback in half hour bloody hen had just layed it and eat straight away grr so now i filled two eggs with chilly sauce and then recap them sealing closed again and i placed two three cool-mints into box as i was advised can help as hens dont like taste so now she has a egg ready to be layed maybe tomorrow so i wait to see the out come ill let you all know my dom pied grey hen omg i never thought she wouldnest but three eggs im not sure they will be fertile however im really not to bothered i will choose her a more pushy cock bird and i will foster her one buby this time just to get her into swing of things the boy shes with now their=r like a couple of teenagers so really doubt that they will be fertile but if they are ill be doing a whole page of happy dance lol im vry happy to say 6 fertile eggs in my light green paoli nest x my own breed possible / lacewing boy due in 4 days or so and my albino hen and her uncle 5 fertile eggs due also in 4 to five days or so so ill be happy if i just get one albino and a few splits to be honest hopefully a albino cock bird better than last years one i breed then we move on to my dfy grey boy and his lacewing hen 4 nice big eggs two showing fertile again happy regardless of what i get so long as they live as this breeding was to get a few half brother sisters from the cock bird really then my spangle grey op hen x the sky blue they have one egg from the lacewing thats clutch was crushed (who im letting start over ) its got vains and three of her own looking fertile signs the cin grey x dom pied two eggs to date i havent tried to cradle but one im exited about regardless of chick out come of variety although i could really hope for a albino hen is my old 06 infertile cock bird i got for 20 bucks two eggs looking good signs of life inside omg if i get chicks from him ill be over the moooooooooooooooon unfortunately my df dom pied 06 boy has provided me all clear eggs all 7 of them tomorrow i have the hard decision of puting a new cock in with her and taking eggs or letting him go one more round with her and fostering them a chick im thinking second option as this his her first round so would like to see her feed and i would like to move few the Opaline clutch out to lessen her burden well im not sure im missing anything that has eggs the rest are still due to lay yet as i staggered them all thats abut it i will get new photo bucket account and post the brokenboy for you all to see over n out gb
  25. well in my breeding room you find the following on hand bar the obvious( breeding cages ,perching, nest box and mason jars, water drinkers and budgies ) when i set up my cages each cage get following one calcium block one iodine block one peace of 007 horse mineral block (this is the only one i know safe to birds )has every possible mineral needed as back up to birds whom dont use blocks cuttle fish if i have it sometimes i run out as birds play with it more so ,why the added oo7 three finger draws with the following three fillings one pvm powder one breed n bicky mix one seaweed powder they have three fed jars one with hulled oates one with canary breeders mix /budgie mix one with red palaniam (spelt wrong) one water drinker (large) changed dayly and every two weeks i add benidine wash in to the water at two drops (NOT THE BROWN BOTTLE DO NOT ADD THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT IT EXACTLY IS ) when chicks hatch i give breeders grade solivite d one time a week i use citrus ginni pig /rabbit bedding sawdust in breeding cabbinets and chicks are normally fed milit sticks from two weeks on however i have not been able to buy bulk this year so the just get bit of canery breeders tossed in dayly from two weeks on i feed the breeders once a week carrot grated with boiled egg mashed shell and all add on weetbix and mix i now sprinkle polenta on to this mix once the chicks hatch they get it twice a week and they get two of the following daly spinach or silver beet carrot fresh seedling grasses milk thistle dandelion orange or mix frozen veg just boiled lightly and a square of bread i clean the breeding cages once every two weeks thoroughly and at moment vac breeding room once two weeks i sweep every once a week untill chick all hatched when i vac dayly i dont mark my eggs i do candle once at around day eight if a nest has irregular fertility i will check again if not i just leave until day 15 where i will look one more time and remove anything empty or suss oh they usually always get small shell grit however right now they are lacking this but wont be by end of next week
