  8. wow that last pairing you mentioned sounds promising splat violet green x dark green great pairing
  9. ba ha ha ha love it if you dont feed them just be for your mates come over then as soon as you enter flight with feed they will swarm onto you, you could pretend your fighting them off hee hee and then come out with your line to talk em into how manly they are phh ha ha ha or you blokes could get over your manly man i eat meat and drink beer images and deal with the fact that at least you dont live your life behind a lie of fast cars in footy just to make yourself fit in i think its called stability and happiness besides i know some pretty bloke blokes whom breed budgies and if you ever suggest they were less of a man i think you'd wish you'd kept your mouth shut who gives a dam what its called fancy shmansy bird breeding hobby when it comes down to it anyone whom looks at you or suggests your less a man well truth be known they are more likely to be insecure about their own self

  11. well to be honest i don't see to many woman breeders in the exhibition show arena and most breeders are men not only that i dont think ive come across more than two in my whole two years that are not woman originated if you ask my opinion most people who breed budgies have either had a accident of some sort preventing them from working ( like myself ) or have some kind of injury be it physical or mentally after all these little feathered friends are quiet relaxing and time consuming so gives you something to do i know not everyone that breeds is injured or mental like me but majority of them are seems they are good hobby for people whom can not do physical sport or such i still cant remember what i call it when referring to my hobby but its not hobby either it will come to me oneday
  12. here is few snaps my cages the sand in tray has helped
  13. i was vacuuming every day splat my bird room was cleanner than my house i just i guess im over it and now vac once every two weeks i do clean cages every second day or if i see poop i just clean it out as i do feed and water it doesn't become a job then just a routine
  14. hey hun i think you miss read rens post grey green has nothing to do with this light green into lutino will eventually drive the vibrancy out of their color its okay for few rounds pairrings so on but as a base its not a good thing to get use to for lutinos you need to be (for best color rezults ) be trying your hand at breeding some DARK GREEN BIRDS and or OLIVES olives are the recommended top colour to retain a spectacular colour in your lutinos and once the lutinos are 100 percent all masking dark green or olive then thats when you can be safly putting them into you visual clearbodys also of a dark factor even cobalt as you will still be achiving dark or double dark factor birds weather in blue or green series if i was giving you the heads up id be saying to you regardless of colour so long as its a dark factor bird cobalt , mauve or dark green or olive id get the best hen you have with wigth across head and good shoulders even if the directions their in the feather above the cere but not high (so long as its got right direction and shoulders and head wighth to that kk light green this will give you some dark factor chicks do the same with the other cock bird but obviously use a hen with the characteristics he needs but again a dark or df dark bird of blue or green series what you need to do it be sure NEVER EVER TO USE GREY OR CINNAMON all cicks that come out cinnamon just use else where or cull im trying to breed a normal line and still trying most birds are split cinnamon or opaline the best start is try fine some one whom has a existing line of normals any color so long as the cock bird is guarantee not split op or cin your on your way good luck hun its not as easy as you think so far i have few good normal hens however nocock i can be garenteed normal only my only best bet aftr 10 normals nothing else even after being paired to a cinnamon twice the other day paired to a lacewing through a cinnamon so you can but do your best to wean everything out but in the end genes are carryed hidden in some birds for years and years then bang pop out it comes dont get to hung up on it it will do your head in if you go test breeding all your normal cocks be fore useing them how you want you are just wasting them in a sense so use them and if cinnamon pops well ....all i can say is good luck but hun dark or dd is way to go for lutes n clearbodys no grey factor
  15. okay that is messy but can i ask why is their news paper on the bottom of it finnie in obstructing the cages natural design of course its going to get mess the news paper i put in is in the slide out tray bit and you just slide out the tray ever few days and wrap up and remove the paper you have turned this cage into a disaster i have 18 out back all the same as that none ove them has ever been that dirty even if not cleaned for two weeks yes a bit of seed comes out the front but not much i find the mason jar feeders are great to prevent the lose of seed only a few of my birds do the scrapping out thing i think its as i offer thee jars with three different seeds they eat what they like then finnie do your self a favor take th e papper out and put it in tray bit just get a pot scrubber to wipe floor over with ones every few days it will remove the poop i use a knife but still o is good also gb
  16. yep i tryed last year to give them some when kaz brought out the meat protein thread you can buy them dried as a powder its easier my birds also shat themselves yet i see them chasing the moths and eating them if they catch them they are good for them
  17. your thread is lovely i enjoy reading keep up the beautiful work and pics gb
  18. well i use wire cages the only issue i can see with them but i figger would be same with wooden is if you had an out break of illness im guessing wire cages close to eachother would be less able to prevent it from going through your whole breeders personally this has not happened to me thank goodness i just use a knife to clean poop off and remove clumps dayly or second day i put news paper on bottom on the tray so i just take first few layers away when gets too many seed husks advantages water never dampens floor if ever leaks out they fold away after breeding season to clean just place them all out in the rain for few wet days cover with bleach and give a scrub rinse off with gerrny dry them off and done (although im lazy and i stack em in shed and then wait few weeks before breeding to clean them all in which i undo them all to flat pack status and scrub down with bleach in the outside bath tub (this year was inside one but out side one is ready now for these jobs ) i recently put sand in bottom instead of news paper im going to see if feather dust sticks to it rather than sits on the paper as it does now they are also portable if something happens and you need to remove a pair for any reason just lift with the handle like two day i moved 6 nests and removed 5 cages to make more room as they were now out of use also they hang by three screws screwed into wall very handy as my breeding room can trance form into baby flight after breeding well thats the plan when i get a safety door wire for me all the way only ever had the birds on the flight side play up and i just clip cardboard their and fixed i brought some really good melamine ones but i couldnt move thenm and cleaning was like omg as they are all joined i ended up giving them away to a beginner whom had none not a show breeder but the smile i got was worth it
  19. thanks taz my albinos and my lacewings are my strongest birds lucky as thats what im trying to specialize in lol that hen is the second best hen from three sisters her sister came 8th at the young bird shields in albino class the grey cock is son from the half sister of her father she just layed 4 more eggs i fostered them all out shes had two clutches already only two chicks but still two so they are going to rest for few months then see what weathers like may squeeze one more clutch latter from them but right now i am more aiming on getting the flight birds up to peek health as as i said i believe that they are not as good as i know they can be their weight is less also so im goingto stop breeding raise whats their and fly everything for a while birds and me take a break from breeding
