Best In Show...df Spangle And Ubc
i didnt think a bird could be split yf it is or it isnt its simple as that the only way to tell if a green bird is yellow face it to breed to a blue based bird which ren says she did this rezulting in two green (violet in my opinion birds ) these birds can be yf but only if the mother was green which she is not from what ren says you would need to breed to blue to find out but if the father ayf green thats the only way they could be however if the father is ayf then he would be more than likely a blue based bird for it to be notacable their for imposable to produce green chicks thats my imput and well what more can i say not yf in my opinion can we see mum and dad ren please im very curious now

No, I didn't explain it properly GB. What I was told is that if I were to breed her to a Blue some of the chicks would be Golden Faces Blue :raincloud: well you were told wrong mate her chicks will not be golden face if you want ayf chicks breed a ayf bird in cobalt or sky to either a cobalt or mauve to get more this depending on weather you have single or df plays a big part what were the clutch buddys to this little hen ren as im guessing that the father isnt agf either next time rips around get her to take a look she will also beable to tell you exactly what to breed to achive the df gf im asuming you are wanting to breed :raincloud:

it defenently isnt a ayf ren dont know who feed you that **** and i dont care if they were the best breeder in town their obviously not that good as she is only if anything violet green as her colour is quiet dark for a dark green more a moss colour as violet greens are but i didnt want to sugest that erlier as the picture could have been colour destorted however knowing her mothers violet then im saying she is defenently violet green but i have not seen her in person so but not yf blue no way on this planet

this too is also what im doing i have just staeted though you are right renee in the fact that you need a bird thats through n out good chicks better than self but what i dont understand is if your keeping family's for what reason the practice of putting a bird most like its mother or most like its father (but better ) is to bring out faults so you can see what you will be dealing with if anything sometimes no faults suffice and your get superior chick its also so you can biuld one a certain birds potency for features i am with splat i breed my own out crosses this way i know exactly whats going on in my flock and exactly whats going into each bird genetically and look wize i will be bringing birds in now and again but from original breeders and from same genetic line when poss i know this may not always be poss but will get their when that happens

Murphys Laws Of Birdkeeping
okay let me see i been breeding show birds for 6 months exactly now lets see what laws i have coped lol highlited in red i haven't showed yet but i took my albino baby to club judging and as the law also would have he pancaked him self to the floor of the show cage lol flat as a tack (as law would have him do ) luckily the judge decided to peel him off and perch him see how he sat (out of around fifteen birds ranging from beginners to our champion breeder(he brought 4 birds)along my boy got second reserve on the night ,> not quiet sure if thats okay or what it means really but i like the sound of the second part )

dropping questions
the citric is not to solufie droppings its to stop gut levels becoming unbalanced and prevent things like coccidia and megga becoming rampant in your flock (its not a treatment for theses things just helps provent ) if breeding birds are having runny poo its usually heat stress in this weather or they are not well id get sample off to vet if your worried but in this heat if they are drinking a lot it may be that if its also smelly id get a sample to vet

Pet Shop Recomendations
thats exactly what i do sometimes jimmy it helps if you know the breeders name and his birds status ive a few times gone to pet shop seen a good bird with great potential and asked to look at bird got the ring and called breeder with the code asked why it was culled if its worth putting in to my stock for show purposes im lucky as the breeders culls in my local are very good breeders with repribale names so they do give honest answer ive got some fantastic birds for next to chips all good breeders and main reason for being culled is size they were the smaller birds from the clutch i must admit i dont often buy hens i did once but again i ask reason for cull this time it was as the breeder was breeding for a particulate birds mutation and colour with no need for rest of clutch he said that the whole clutch was their and that for a beginner they would be perfect he pet shops birds regularly out of the fact that when they dont if into his major cull sales in the queens birthday week end its not worth keeping the exes on till next one as he knows what hes breeding for and honestly i get them cheeper at pet shop than if i go direct so.......... that idea does work jimmy i apreshiate that some you would love to buy my birds thanks it makes it feel worth while also i suply birds to pet shop from time to time but i breed them specially for him for colour and mutation i dont get your normal 5 dollors and i do it to try and suply good healthy stock into the petshop they buy others birds but mine do stand out to the buyers being wjhere i am its hard to get people who are willing to travel the extra didtance i do keep my prices low and i do give a garentee of birds health(and will replace bird if passes with in the first month if bird is brought back for my anilization )usually even if it was your own fault ...eg broken neak due to out of cage experiance , the birds are wormed ivomectomed and all have history if wanted if i find that bird has been starved or other wize not kept well and caused death then money is refunded and i will no sell again to that person

Breeders Register Forum Members Only
hi ya all guys , .im in Melbourne south eastern suburbs ,gippsland region my birds are a mix of not up to standed show types and larger than average pet type i have a mixed aviary of all different types of genetics going off and of course family trees. birds come tame or for breeding and i will even breed a certain typing if asked and your willing to wait through out the pairing laying, hatching , fledged duration  i stagger my breeders so usually have something. not summer as i don't breed in the hot(dec through to april ) i do know of a few breeders around all very welcoming ,so if i don't have what your after i can point you to the right place i don't have any green as such only type2 yellows or golden faces blues violets mauve's and Greys your always welcome even for a cuppa 2009 has seen me get into the show side of things i still have my pets all which come wormed and ivomectomed and no more that 20.00 each and less however by 2011 i should have the odd show culls for sale for around 30 dollors a bird mabe 20.00 depending on its blood lines im going to try my hand at lacewing in opaline and normal, albino also in opaline and spangles also cinnamons their is other mutations in my small stud how ever i dont breed these perpusly they are due to trying to achive a certain look or fetchure in my birds you can pm me with any interest leeia
