Look How These Birds Are Turning Out
yes splat i have to agree the only real place lacking is mask depth not really able to say that as i dont have my own breed birds as yet :celebrate: your hens have the masculine look thats nice the beautiful rounded head i must admit they do look abit square headed but once they molt into adult hood they lose this look and is replaced with the nice big buff head blow and this is when shes not blowing after molt still not blowing oh finally a small blow not a good effort she looks like a pompom when she really shows  the one that got away  and my splat hen she has depth of mask but it came latter so i wouldn't be too worried about mask depth omg she is a stunner my fav bird ever and splat i have lots good ones still she stands out to me  i just love your birds look sorry i couldn't stop she soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful u can see why i would like more birds from you splat

looks like its you and me kiddo :celebrate: sounds like lots a fun mabe you could bring that turkey we could do roast spuds in garlic and rosemary sauce in a ash fire pit you comming anne ??? anyone ?? really all jokes aside it does sound lovely would it be hard to get their ? You sound like an amazing cook G.B. and I am pretty handy with the tea towel. These flocks can fly 100km at a time so we will probably need a vehicle to track 'em down. I honestly don't think the heat will bother us as our bird watching will be around dawn and dusk. If we left from your's I guess we are talking two to three days driving each way and say four days there? Ten days all up. I take it from the swilling yellow faces the esky will be in our car... lol i thing we should borough my brothers fat boy its got a bar fridge and head set helmets lol i can picture it now   us taking turns to ride it whilst the other gets sloshed on the back couch  im going to look the funnest when its my turn to ride and we need to place trainers on the bike you video cam in one hand and vodka black in the other  ill be like just point to the sky richo as i try keep us upright

Help With Mutations Please...
sorry but ive never heard of DF violet turning to appear normal. Voilet could be a factor here - but both cheek and tail feathers are the key to a grey-green or not, and now both those chicks look to have black tails to me. well to tell you the truth i didnt even think it was ture but the only reason i have violets cumming out my butt is as my very first brought sky blue bird just happens toi be df violet he is sky blue his tail feathers are not much different to my other sky blue birds but you can just see the definitely aqua ting not your normal bluesy green its easy to see chicks in nest with this df but once fledged and molted its vertically imposable apart from breeding results i dont know thats just what i was told i did read it somewhere which brought me to ask a breeder and he confirmed and i tell you being taught the diffrents so pays off in the nests

Breeding Pairs 2009
She looks a bit pale for a Violet. Did you take those photos with a flash? I did use the flash, but it is necessary, sorry. I think she would be a sky violet, but the cinnamon has washed her colouring out. I originally thought she was going to be grey, but we can see from the cheek patches, and the mottled colouring of her chest feathers, that she is in fact going to be blue. You can see the bright sky blue coloured feathers and also some washed out looking purpley coloured feathers. Until her first moult, it is still all specualtion, but she is definitely not grey. Thanks GB.I am not sure I am doing that much. The birds do all the work, I am just along for the ride.I agree, I thought she was going to be grey, but it seems I am wrong. Like I said in my reply to Renee, I am still trying to best guess her colour. The cinnamon washed out the colour. It is not your monitor, you are in agreement with me. Don't put yourself down, you are right. All is looking good here at Wattle Flights. You are right there too. dave she is definitely a sky violet i got a sky violet cinn cock / lacewing i always thought it was mauve how ever its breeding rezults of its identical brother said other wize so i took it along to a well astablished violet breeder and asked him here what colour do you think this bird is he asked me i said i think sky violet although he does look mauve he said it was defenently sky violet so the cinnamon afects the violet giving it a grey efect being a modifier that does make sence so hope that helps some :bump:

Help With Mutations Please...
okay first the cock bird does seem to be normal green however your friend with the big gloves hid the part of the wing i wanted to see so that kills that however i want you to look see if his under wing is blue i would say its not but i still want you to check just to be sure that hen is sky violet would i be right in saying shes cinnamon or is she just normal spangle i cant see her back in picture ? this little one is his cheek patches kind of look black or really dark purple ?or is it just the picture ? this next chick his patches also look purple not blue like dads am i right or wrong please tell me ? this one is deep purple patches and going on the bronze color he looks to me to be holding violet and possibly yellow suffuse why i ask about the father ? dad would have to be split blue to produce a blue chick so he could be split to blue with the violet modifier(only a thought ) how ever he also looks like he could be single factor agf sky blue if he is he will look green as he does but under his wing will be blue across to under its wing pit :fear all along the edge working in which could explain this golden bronzed look of this young chick if not then im stumped myself :bump: i only say this as dads flights look to me to look quiet aqua-r-ee but this too could be my screen but in the black it seems more brownny with ting of bluish green aqua r ee colour i dont know ?you tell me dads patches look deep purple here indicating violet he may not be agf but hes definitely violet light green if not (i think) again a real aqua ting in tail feathers suggesting violet modifier in df form in this chick and a sky blue again cheeks look purple not blue so...?being spangled if was also df violet skyblue would look normal sky blue im so probbly compleatly off line here but thats what i see weather its right well ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? i wouldnt know as cant see birds but you can explain their collrs in detail may really help ??? i think we have a violet green a violet lt green spangle a ,another violet green Opaline maybe a mauve green ??(im ruling out the yf theory here ) a sky blue df violet and a cinnamon sky blue df spangle (if not cin still a df violet sky blue spangle ) but then i really dont know much about violet genetics im just going off the lookof the ones i have breed myself and have brought myself (ones with fam history )and they same colours as thoughs so........ anyone feel free to tell me im compleatly off trake here
