  7. cleaning reasons hun im about to go scrub out my flight now and as i need to wet floor i cant wash it away i have to soke it up with towels and stuff i also find that they birds dont get sun and i know lots dont but since i did my pop out my birds so much better if i could do it all again id save extra and just get a ready made flights and add protection to that and use one end (flights as a breeding room i have a totally mouse proof shed weather proof bar one section near my window (being me i couldn't seal it and its still not finished ) its fully ventilated along roof and both sides have opening doors of 90 cm front this way birds can be closed in at night pop out closes also for keeping out night cold double roof yet still need another one as shed gets very hot very quickly it has sky light that in winter lets in light built needs covering in summer totally waste of time as no point if cant let it do its job as need to cover to keep heat out floor has terracotta paves to keep floor cool but my bad terracotta also sucks up moister so floors always damp big no no im still trying to work out how to fix that with out needing to take em all up basically my whole flight is a f@$#%^#@up and if i could sell it i would but to do that it would need total removal bit by bit and would take forever to pull down and to put back up the only thing about it is it looks good i have a new pre made flight im trying to find someone to put up for me ive had it almost 8 month snow still sitting their i tried to do it myself but i have failed its not safe to put birds in as lose screws and all im just saying unless you have help consent till start to end bye ready made also really really best to go look at others set ups as i thought mine would be good but in practice it sucks
  8. well im always happy to wear a hat if it fits so but i do agree with kaz it looks very much like and iris ring although he does look more like a rec than a df dom except that he has alot of striping down back of head to me confirms the df dom deal pics of him from back would be cool as well as i could see if he is in fact also Opaline
  9. my sheds the same size yours its the same exactly 15 cages wont fit unless you have them at floor leavel to i have 12 and thats using back wall too i took this today just a bit of my shed i can get more but i got one flight anymore id not be able to move at all as is i knock **** all time lose lots babys as i have no space and with boxes on outside knock em off im changing back to nests in cages will be bit better still tight you will need loads ventilation windows front and back and roof vents good drainage in floor i added a pop out i fit in flight comply 40 birds and 60 at most with out bickering or stress setting in ill try get snaps and wright my do not dos tomorrow for you personally wish id just saved extra waited longer brought a actual aviary with 2 or three flights as easier to cover than cut holes in for air ventalation gb will need faulse roof to stop condensation i lined my walls but no insulation just screwed straight on to wall from out side then cut the screw endings off and sanded flat

  12. hay mate thanks for reply no im not trying to hand rear just chicks that hatch and the mum doesnt fed due to new hen and or tosses chicks aside as doesnt really know what shes doing yet ive lost a few chicks after feeding and warming them but then having no were to put them intill morning where i can foster or place with mum intill she starts to feed i usually use yogit to give new born if i got it if not i use milk or cream i find cream better than milk but yogit best just wondered if this worked and thought id ask temp to keep young chick going through night if no mum to warm it thanks for your imput i would of thought 36 was to hot and chick would dehydrate so thanks for that
  13. did anyone ever try this bar libby and if so what were the results also what is the right tempriture to keep a new hatched chick alive away from its mum if needed just over night till you can place it back and watch her with it durring day as i have lost a few from neglectful mums and running out of nests to put bubys till they are few days old and always seem to dehydrate due to to much warmth or chill due to not enough im not good at temp to keep chick going till next day
  14. i too had chick fed this morning but then two more chicks hatched same nest same day(today ) first two fed okay but last chick got air only i looked later before night chick was weak i moved to another nest where it was fed full the other two were fine but mum could not fed three new borns at one time all hatched with in few mints of each other i would of lost chick but now i just lost whom it belongs to as other nest had day old two
  15. im sad reading this thread poor houman having tammy let out and for her to fly away i know its been ages but ring was 3665 in case anyone found her she was in melbourne in the Eastern suburbs :( :( :( :( :(
  16. their is no different in their ability to talk male or females the end result is the time spent with the bird however hens can get cranky and like their own space at times but persistence and love will win over tammy was a hen houmans chick http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28516&st=0&p=339926&hl=+baby%20+for%20+houman&fromsearch=1entry339926 as was a few others ive tamed for people on this sight no differences bar a bit more out spoken
  17. you could kill them like brake rib or wing blind them so on harming them is not really the best thing given most are protected if thats your answer to solving issues maybe you need to re think keeping birds prevention is better than intervention dillster building a safe flying and roosting space is best way tieing balloons around works to scare them away
  18. well i bred some chicks earlier that may go in for the young bird shields depends on club selections anyway i am just breeding for me still splat i take my birds to club selections but if nothing goes im not bothered still building my stud up winning anything is just a bounis for the now im still teething oh two new bubbys hatched today one from one the lw hens and one from my spangle actually three hatched one i think was dom pieds not sure had to do some nest swapping so but they are all alive thats the main thing not sure i really showed my pairs so i found some the pics i took some the birds im breeding right now not all are their im but un organized but hey thats just me when it comes to it im a bit messy lol Opaline lt grn Grey cock albino 06 x grey hen op lt green no 2 x sky spangle mp1 grey green poss split lw cobalt x c8in lyt green op grey/ino 08 boy cin x dom
  19. omg QUICHE i cant wait you got picture come dave pics please
  20. like kaz says here if you want birds its you that must fund it vet savings should be at least 60 dollars per bird you own and 55 for medication that they may need each bird so thats a cost of 115 per bird saved in a bank account that can earn interest if not used that way your gaining if your birds stay healthy if you plan to breed budgies decide how many you can breed as in number of possable chick out come and homes to go to each cage will cost you as if you plan to breed then no point starting off breeding in aviary as you will just bring issues to yourself you will need all the necessary items per cage per pair and spare if you want to do this i think save your penny's as your doing that study up as much as you can on everything from how long before each eggs layed to hatching what to do if mum doesnt feed egg binding and prevention of illness sighns of illness feeding programe this is even for pet most of all you pay you do you show you know what ever is needed to know get them to right you a servy of questions that you must awnser if they are not sure you are capable to show you know what to do in all situations good luck with it most of all be prepared to spend alot of time cleaning feeding and maintaining your birds dayly at least one hour a day at least thats just watching and knowing your birds ways so you can tell if any behavior changes could mean the difrents between a dead bird and a live one you could save
  21. to get chicks too look like him you need to get another bird of his variety which im not sure but looks like a grey wing or the chicks will only be split as you have with these chicks of his now can i ask what happened to all his chicks started with 5 ended up with two
