  1. he is not missing flights kaz the feathers are longer so it seems he is hes not they are very very strict in England even drop one spot your out
  2. personally i think les martins birds are fantastic this is not a good picture of this bird at all here is a better picture of him done by a friend of mine in America called Alan Bundy if you care to read his blog you will find many more beautiful well p reported and nicely feathered English breed exhibition birds http://www.awbbudgies.blogspot.com/ enjoy the read He has shoulder and how can you tell he doesn't have back scull Renee when you can't see that area anyway. I think he is magnificent. I would be proud to breed a bird like that but then at the same time the directional feather is almost going to far. splat if we had birds like him here they would all be thinking different just they dont want to dream these birds are desired by many i myself have relized if done right its not deifying nature i dont think for an English breed exhibition bird that the feather on cap is going almost to far as thats how they mostly all are over their you can see his lovely back-scull in these pics of him and his proportion also the pics in the blog i linked up
  3. i never do it after the one time and i only do that when im being inpatient you can clearly tell infertile eggs from fertile after 12 days so i dont believe theirs a need to candle them ive read somewhere that the light can shock and kill the embryos so id rather not risk it unless i have a iffy one that looks either way

  6. i am not saying he had salmonella but im saying he was sick not brain damaged you will never know what he had with out crop and poo cultures blood teat to start with all illnesses play out very simular and its just anyone's guess whats wrong but if going to a vet please do not listen to their guess unless they have cultured samples please dont medicate on their guess they need to know an exact problem to deal with it
  7. you dont need to feel bad i myself have miss read a budgies needs causing it to die we all can do it birds are very very good at acting well its not till they are basiclly dead you know that something serious is wrong at least your man enough to admit error i say good for you and he really was loved thats the most important bit most of all you will make a better owner for your next baby bird one tip alot of birds get ill from kissing them placeing them near our face i do this myself its so so so bad to do they can easy get germs from us hygiene is so way more important for people with birds as they can get the smallest bug be sure to wash hands before handling and try not to kiss em when you have colds so on really shouldnt kiss them at all but as i said even i do that i find it very hard not to with a hand tame baby
  8. read all this you will know about every thing you want for all variety;s http://www.budgerigarworld.com/ go to the side bar and go to budgie articles
  9. well i never saw these pics but if you look the last ones the Easter pics kaz is right he even not only looks sick he has staining above the cere i really am sorry to burst your image of a brain damaged bird however your bird was not well that a look at your own post not only is he fluffed but hes cere is stained brown he did need a vet and im positive looking at that bird he was not brain damaged brain damaged bird as kaz said they tend to fall over themselves and try to fly but ending up flapping in circles your bird you state wouldnt sit still flew off all time the only special need this bird needed was im sorry to say ....a vet
  10. okay but im not sure on that sounds like he had a infection actually all the things you state point to infection not brain damage especially the seizures the constant eating being quiet and wanting love still needed special care but most likely actually a weak chick due to something like here is one problem that cause can effect a bird in the way you reported SALMONELLA The disease normally is restricted to young birds who will look miserable, listless and weak, they huddle together, some are stunted and die quickly. If some recover they can be carriers for up to one year, their droppings if ingested can contaminate other birds.A vet must be available for advice to confirm the disease A sick bird suffering from salmonella may appear thin, fluffed up, lethargic and may have swollen eyelids. Some infected birds may show no outward symptoms but are carriers of the disease and can spread the infection to other birds. The risk of transmission is greatest in the aviary where large numbers of birds gather at feeding and water stations, dirty seed and water containers can cause an outbreak. Most infected birds die if they have a low immune system or are elderly. Salmonellas are transmitted by faecal contamination of food and water by sick birds, though it can also be transmitted by bird-to-bird contact. Salmonella is a common cause of mortality in feeder birds, i.e. at breeding times. Personal hygiene is very important when we are handling dead and sick birds; always wash your hands well before entering the birdroom. Keep all feeding utensils and water containers free from droppings. I have three sets of feed and water containers and at least one of these is normally soaking in a solution of clean water and f10sc disinfectant. . If you suspect a salmonella infection take a bird and a sample of its droppings to an avian vet ASAP. Your vet will test a sample of the droppings and can then identify the bacteria. Your avian vet may then prescribe a suitable antibiotic. this above was taken from Barrie shuts bird web page http://www.officialbarrieshuttbudgerigars.com/homepage.htm a world of information but they wont test for it unless you ask as its a cultured diagnosis im sure what ever it was he was still special needs brain damage or sickness id just be careful calling it a certain thing as others may read your page and belive they have found a brain damaged bird yet its really only ill just my opinion sorry to be the stick in the mud oh and you can do any test on anything its just at a cost
  11. i think what you wrote is great but im still wondering how you knew he had brain damage ??? was it just as he was not active and so on ?? or did a vet tell you this ??
  12. well im not completely that stupid i do realize it isn't the safes method but giving my situation im not to bothered besides they are not just bricks they are very very heavy and im positive the wind will not blow these suckers off im afraid im just going to take that chance of them blowing off if i have to besides not a house for a block near me and im not stupid enough to go out in the wind storms im not the only hill billy in my town and god knows what may fly your way out their im not planing to put the metal ones on the actual finished product im going to get the clear stuff this is just what i had laying around but besides the dangerous- ness of it DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD WORK thats the question id have a gutter on the end of it leading to a water tank so it does run off into something rather than the ground ill do it both sides also it wont go past the pop out these sheets are quiet large i could not get a tarp up mate ive got one here ive had for 2 years and it needs poles put in and set also need to be done properly a tarp would not let the water run off like these either id have the same issue with water getting as i did before i do realize this needs attaching but its also locked under the top rung and their is no where but the front that the wind can lift it from it it flys off its only going to end up in my yard wind goes away from house here

  21. well to day i had a surprise visitor and well lucky and unluckily it poured down rain we were able to assess the flooring issue and find the source of it turns out my back porth area is running off the water that gets their from the rain and its running off onto the area next to my flight/shed also the shed has a c cup i think he called it edge which doesnt allow the flow to just flow off my shed it brings it back then over it looks as if i need to install guttering and a extra roof to go over the one i have to allow the flow to pass off the end of the shed and away from its self if that makes sense he dug a quick trench for me soon as he saw all the water but we couldn't do it well enough as we didnt have anything to be-able to get through the stones the grounds like a rock in the car port and its were we have to put it to run off also my other flight i need put up is right in the way so made it hard i got some pics of the water build up to show you and his make shift drain just to show me what i need done if i had had the right tools and he had the time it would of been done now so im going to get a pick and have a go at it myself just happened the rain started 15 minits before he was leaving so at least now i know bit what im doing
  22. do you know why your lossing them have you tryed to actually pin point the issue take a back step and look at each bird thats died did they all seem to die pooy bum. thin , fluffed for few days where they all in same cabinit before the death or at anytime you can think of back trake and try and work out what caused these deaths also you must breed your own good hens use your best cock birds to anything that breeds and just do this till you have few hens then breed another good cock bird to that same medioka but breeding hen cross the brothers and sisters back then you will find them chicks to be rather quiet nice and just as good as any you will buy my albinos started with a really crappy 08 albino hen with no head and slack wings but big body (the headshrinker voodoo look ) she had three resonable hens and one okay cock i keept all them and breed them to their dads brothers chicks and these second lot are lovley nice good sized hens your own are always the best
