  1. how long do you think it takes for eggs to be layed once the nest is put in place Taylor ???
  2. you can bring me a bag fresh lol i think my garden is clean out im trying to regrow some at moment
  3. and to be honest id not even feed my baby baby food let alone my birds try scrambling an egg WELL COOKED and grating bit carrot into it i dont know a bird that has ever passed up scrambled eggs
  4. okay im not sure what you just said then did you say you did the salt on one hen but didnt get it in the vent i guess i didnt make it clear that the salt needed to penetrate the vent area to actually work can you get pics so we can actualy see the area she may not even be egg bound how do you know they are >???? how long i ask AGAIN were the hens in nests **** breeder or not they must know at least that if you leave them and they are egg bound two birds and not actually having a clue about them or finding out anything about how long they were nesting or how old how many eggs layed already prier to the egg binding these birds need someone experianced they need a vet or a breeder whom knows what they are doing
  5. so you can see my delema then hee hee to let go or not to let go that is the question how good at arm twisting are you
  6. never leave birds with out food just to try and get them to eat something new birds need seed constantly also try them with sweet potatoe it just needs a wash and then leave it their will last more than few days unless they eat it lol try mixed veggies from coles brand just leave to defrost a little spoon full at a time and put on a lid of coffee jar dont put seed on it they will eat it soon enough
  7. okay all i can say is heat heat heat keep them both warm in a small quiet box or show cage if you got one one for each bird how long they been egg bound did the person say ??? turn each hen upside down and drop a pinch of salt on their vents the vent should pulsate and the salt should start natural contractions but induced of course dont use to much salt you can prolapse the bird then just put them back in their warm 30 degrees room is best and leave them in quiet you do not want them running around and you do not want to puch on eggs and brake them if the hen prolapses when the egg passes then you must stick your finger straight in her egg whole pushing it back in then again let hen rest in warmth she most probbly will die though from stress however i have dont this and saved bird you can not breed from theses hens again again how long birds been like this their is other methods but salt is my fav a warm bath is another method i have successfully used should take half hour to hour for hen to pass the egg with this (salt) method okay the bath is only if your hens are not wiggling and squirming get bowl of warm water and place hen up to head in the water again add a tad of salt just half tea spoon to a normal bowl the warmth and relaxing bath will help her pass her egg when you remove her and dry her dry her well and keep her warm i and then place in warm quiet box for her to rest less stress better chance the salt method is my choise as bath can get chill if bird is not dryed completely all i can say is good luck by the way lamps not good enough get a heater in a small room like the laundry up to 30 degree at least
  8. you a pain never ps i was thinking of calling you today but .... well thought that counts hey mate
  9. you wont be theirs another young person at eastern district its a great club if i lived closer it would of been where id had gone or if i drove i know few breeders their some lovely people in that club dont be shy the quicker you join the quicker you will learn and get advice and help mogglet im dieing for more pics
  10. kaz when you settle down and the birds are settled things will change you will see that last chick the youngest grey wing lovley by way they are good for greywings remembering they are a hard to breed up nice long masks on them
  11. i hate to admit it but i cant do the mendel squares i never could i know how easy they must be for everyone and your all probably thinking gb you cant be that stupid can you but ... i can and i am a lot it due to my memory being affected in my accident i cant retain information and takes me 10 times the normal person who struggles with learning takes me ten times longer than that to actually get things sorry if im annoying nubbly but i am copying all your yf info and put it in my book i wont need to ask again then i hope but i do get it again now how long for well thats another question
  12. im actually a tad disappointed to be honest i thought i would of had better out comes i guess its more disappointing that i dont really know whom belongs to whom so im only guessing whom the nicer chicks are from
  13. yep thanks nubbly i was just making sure my green chicks couldnt be yf so i can right it down they must all be green/blue as dad was grey the original question was quote me for verification what your saying nubbly is that all the chicks from a green/yf hen will be either yf blue single factor 1 mutant or green /to blue ..meaning these chicks can not have a yf passed on to them ??? cause what i dont understand is how can you get green / yf birds if the / yf can not be passed on to the chicks that are green from a green / yf bird i know you can get a green split yf bird from breeding a yf blue and a green bird together but is it certain that that green /yf bird can not pass on its yf to its green chicks ? and only can pass it to its blue chicks you have answered me in my understanding (my speak ) thanks rip is always explaining it to me due to my confused mind i always get it then lose it now ived copied into my bird bible ive made up
  14. thank you im just stoked i got 23 chicks out of 35 eggs the youngest chick is only 5 days old i have put 6 more cabinets up but these ones are just for me to try and get something from my older birds i really dont expect results from them i put up my cobalt flanagan hen 07 bird with cobalt flanagan cock bird 06 bird i said id never do this pairing however he fills eggs she lays egg his hens never sit well and her eggs always get addled ...so im hoping to just put any eggs layed somewhere else i really want at least one chick from each of these guys so i figure my chances are better if i pair them together i havent gotten any chicks from these two i got one chick from my 07 spangle sky blue flanagan bird but he passed away 3 months ago sadly as he was my fav im letting the opaline light green and grey boy re lay as i have a where the *** did the yellow face chicks come from question to solve i thought from my df yellow face but they chicks that got the yf are im positive the light green opalines and the greys so.... i will find out this round they have one egg on 26th so... their off and running ive got an opaline sky violet hen with a dom pied cock bird and a opaline light green ...half brother x half sister pairing from fathers side and my 08 grey boy well i put him back to the original hen he gave me all my good hens from shes an 06 sky blue hen so.... thats just a fingers crossed two other pairs im doing but they are just playing but for good good reason if all goes well their im positive results will be fantastic im thinking of pairing two more pairs today but really i dont like having more than 8 cabinets going now i find it to time consuming and my little girl misses out on time with me as im out their cleaning and yes two more is another half hour she loses with me so i think ill just wait for now ill get better pics of all the chicks as they come out thay were just few snaps i took thanks splat but i still think yours are beautiful compared to mine
  15. okay well im just going to put pics up will be quicker and wont do my head in as much if the post goes missing again here goes the chicks so far for 012 rung birds
  16. well i always have too matt i was like but yellow face is dominant so it can only be yf or it can not but rip asures me that no a green bird can only be split for yf as it cant hold all the cromazones (alies what ever on the same what ever lol so that if a green bird has yf gene and blue gene it can only pase on on to the green chicks so they become split blue but the blue chicks well as yf is domanant they get the yf genetic regardless as both parents carry the blue genetic i dont know something like that i ring her every month and ask how it works lol oneday ill get it and keep it in their ...in my brain that is
  17. okay i just spent an hour doing a post but it didnt work for some reason ' pics in all so im over it and will do it again when i feel better gr **** bloody computer

  20. if your worried mate pull him out i pulled my good split ino grey out today and hes got to new hatched and 4 to go mums doing fine you just got to give extra love care and support to the hen extra veg and egg mix with the carrot n weeties i got him alone with extra everything too
  21. thats great that things worked out splat i was just going to chat to you about the results of putting the birds on turbosole for 3-4 days only takes one Peront to have it and chicks to be swapped from nest to nest for **** to hit the fan i know as i lost two chicks that way and a whole nest just lucky with me was the nest i moved the only surviving chick to that had the issue and i only worked it out as the first chick died was a day old so it grows quick and the little chicks cant eat their crops are filled with canker they seem to gasp for air and stick little legs out stiff back line being caused then the next day the oldest chick from the foster nest died it was the chick i fosted in their so as it was fine one min dead next i put two in to together i cropped all chicks with turbosole from that nest and moved them into new nests and i took box off didnt want hen to keep feeding as she must had it herself to be passing it on took a two weeks for it to reach point of affecting chicks she and dad looked fine still but obviously would not be i then turbosoled every breeder cage for 4 days each giving the 4 chicks left alive from the mainly hit nest crop next morning as well everything's been fine since so thats how i found my issue and sounded similar to splats so i let her know as it wasnt going to hurt the birds 3-4 days treatment but stop it if it was indeed canker im actually doing my breeders again now splat i waited two n half weeks and now chicks out nest im doing them all one more time same period of time i chatted to my vet in he said would be good idea to do it again in two n half weeks so what people forget is breeding stresses the birds even if just a bit so and canker being activated by stress in birds whom carry the little thingys well its not like you would know as its not like the flock has it and quiet often feeding hens make the eerr err eeerrr sound and regurgitate so looks normal action to most
  22. the supermarket its brecky cereal or maybe not lol kaz i thought it was for humans in the morning i tried porridge otes but i dont like it attracts to many bugs weevils included as for horse chaff i add a bit to the cages when bubbys come out in nappy cage but not in nests anymore
  23. its really a personal choice i know if i could afford it id choose red gum shavings as they also keep mite at bay for the same reason i use the citrus Ginni pig n rabbit bedding from pet shop a small packet lasts me full round of 18 nests its 5.00 for the small one other wize i buy a bulk of just shavings for 16.00 a bale lasts for ever put it on floor flight if i see waters got in in to works a treat
  24. Benny im sure for you i can find a nice hen for him if not in my own stud off someone in my club , not to expensive possibly for free are you looking at joining a club in a few years ??? if you enjoy the show birds ?? or just need a big hen as the pet types are to small for him ??
  25. thats like the one i cut out of my hen hers was im positive a tumor vet told me to put her down or just leave her as she willdie soon anyway well i cut it out and shes fine i do not suggest you do this i knew what i was doing half any how thing is shes fine today a year later but she is regrowing a small tumor now i noticed it today i will not be putting her through trauma of cutting it out again i was just very lucky i knew what i was cutting at last time its in different spot this time and i know nothing about whats in that body area so to risky fate will take its course this time round keep her happy is all you can do
