My boy I have inside does that, He also talks to himself while he is asleep
  4. So I found this little bird on gumtree, They say she (it) is 4 and a half months old. But she looks younger then that to me.. They've said I can have her (it) so I'll be going to get it in the next week or so, It's advertised as a white faced cockatiel, it doesn't look very white faced though.. They also said that their sister didn't want it because "didnt like her because she hasnt grown the feathers on her neck" So just wanted to hear other thoughts on it.. (sorry about the size of the images, I'm sure someone will fix them for me ) http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/l/kj/09/4...0088g2a_20.jpeg http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/l/kj/09/4...00776gf_20.jpeg
  5. The male is gorgeous! and the baby's are adorable!
  6. And If neither of you have the room, you can pm me!.. Even with his feather's missing, Bobble is gorgeous!
  7. Sort of.. My parents have been finding alot of injured birds recently.. (Every person who lives on their street owning a cat doesn't help much) In the last few weeks they have bought over a musk lorikeet, mum found it at the local park being harassed by "little brown birds" the poor little thing died before the vet would see it, I was waiting in the waiting room when it died . A magpie which dad took off his friends dog, it was fine just had a few feathers missing and a cockatiel that had a very badly broken wing, I left it at the vet's and they rang a few hours later to tell me they had found its owner and that it was fine. I always seem to end up with heaps of pets (of all sizes!) At the moment I've got a rabbit and dog, a cat, another cat on the way (i'm getting a kitten off a friend), my budgies, a goldfish and rat.. lol I've alway's loved looking after animals..
  8. To quote Munchie's Mum, If anyone has any information on a Tafe course or something similar that we could do, I'm sure we'd both really appreciate it
  9. *goes and adds the 4 lying around to the pile of future aviary stuff* :offtopic: lol That is a great photo! Your birds are so pretty :cake:
  10. So jealous! I wanted to go so badly.. I had been saving for weeks and then at the last minute my parents rang and reminded me that it was my brothers birthday :hooray: lol It was a good day anyway though, Lots of four year olds running around.. They are gorgeous! I love the hen!
  11. How come? They are very cheap and make great aviary floor cleaners. Probably because I want chickens and a duck and a kitten and now i need to replace my 6 missing budgies.. And because at the moment my aviary is walls and a roof leaning against his mothers shed lol we aren't putting it together till we move out, which hopefully will be very very VERY soon I'll get one one day, he can't really do much if i just happen to bring one (most likely more ) home.. He probably won't notice it anyway.. Pearce, that is exactly what I thought! lol they are so cute!
  12. Beautiful! My partner's cat caught one this afternoon, I got it off her as fast as I could but the poor thing was already dead I'm gonna have to make the cat a collor covered in bell's one of these days... How'd you get it? Is it a girl or a boy? Is there a way to tell? How long have you had it? Is it tame? Do you need a licence? It's gorgeous I want one!
  13. oh wow! the baby Quakers are gorgeous! The blue ones are so cute! lol Quails are so funny sometimes, my aunty used to have one that would follow my cat around My partner won't let me get one though and Ruby is so gorgeous!! I don't think I've ever seen a bird like her..
  14. Looks like a boy to me :grouphug:
  15. I get up and check each bird for signs of sickness. Then change seed, give them and vegies and water, (One of my boy's (Rocky) seems to think that round things belong in water, so every morning there is are toy ball's and the bigger seed's in there..) and change the newspaper, and clean the wire. I'm using my big flight cage I made, I've only got 12 at the moment the rest are spread out between my aunty and my mum's aviary's. Then about lunch time I move them onto the grass and some days i remove the tray's at the bottom so they can eat it. (I'm using my big flight cage I made, I've only got 12 at the moment the rest are spread out between my aunty and my mum's aviary's.) At about 5:30 - 6pm, whenever it first starts to get dark, i change the water again. Sweep around the cage and cover them up for the night. I spend about 3.5 - 4 hour's on the birds most days, sometimes less. alot of it is watching though not actual work..
  16. aww, They are super cute JB! I think they are both spangle's too
  17. lol Just the question I was going to ask.. All my boy's (and Laila) have a weird obsession with chewing their food containers, So I was wondering if it's okay if they do it? Mum's had me making little wooden trays cos she is convinced her birds are trying to kill themselves.. They actually eat their containers..
  18. YAY! Congratulations!! Your gonna love having your own place! p.s. I know how you exactly how you feel, Living with my mother in law (almost) is nearly killing me! I can't wait till we move, I'm so sick of hearing her opinion on everything and i especially hate that she spoil's her dog... I mean, my dog has a billion toys and gets good food and has her own blankets and stuff.. but i don't let her sleep on my under the blankets with me or choose which food she is going to eat thats just.. mental.
  19. Just an update on this little guy, He is finally going through his first moult! and he looks terrible! lol I will get photo's of him tomorrow
  20. OMG! That is awesome! lol When my rat had baby's she ate them all.. :budgiedance: but can't wait to see photo's of your's
  21. This is my new girl. She is about 2 and a half years old. I got her from my fiance's aunty, she rescued her from the people across the road from her. The poor dog had been locked in a laundry for 2 years. She didn't even know what grass was and her claws had been let to grow so much that they had grown around and into the bottoms of her feet, she couldnt' even walk. She is a chihuahua x jack russel. poor girl is very skinny at the moment
  22. I think it might be a little girl but don't take my word for it.. anyone else is more likely to correct..
  23. I'm already working on it :thanks: I should be able to get one in the next few days.. He belongs to a friend and they are moving away so i'm hoping i can catch up with them again before they go.. The only thing that is making me so unsure is the flecks of yellow through his body colour.. They are very very noticable..
  24. okay, the bird in question is just a grey green spangle.. He just looks nothing like my Rocky.. He almost looks lutino..
  25. Yeah I know that, it's just.. there is something not right about this cock i've seen.. He has definately got yellow flecks through his body colour.. and there was a YF2 colbalt spanlge hen who also had it.. so is it just cos of the spangle?.. Just thinking cos my YF2 spangle cobalt hen doesn't have it..
