    Albino hen
  2. Neville replied to Cory's post in a topic in What Sex Is My Budgie?
    He is male
  3. It doesn't make any difference which way round they are paired. If the lutino is split for blue the chicks will be half albino and half lutino. If the lutino is not split for blue all the chicks will be lutino
  4. An albino cock bird mated to any yellow faced blue series hen will produce some creamino females. It doesn't matter what other mutations are present because the albino will mask them

Every little mark shows up on a white budgie. If there was only a very small amount of blood on the feathers it may not have even been noticed on any other colour budgie
  6. She is a type 2 yellow face recessive pied. The yellow doesn't have to spread all of her body feathers to show which mutation of yellow face she belongs to
  7. Your birds are both males. As you have been reading about recessive pieds you will understand why Jasmine's cere is pink and not blue like most other male budgies
  8. Is she just dropping them from the perch or has she made a nest? If she is just dropping them from the perch removing them won't mattter. If she is nesting in the corner of the cage or the food dish or something similar you should re-arrange the cage and remove anything she is using. You could add a wire grill to the floor if necessary Can she see anything from her cage that could be stimulating her, like nests or other birds nesting or even ornaments that look like nests

There is a lot more colour in the new pictures. Numbers 1 & 3 are male. The others are probably female Beak (& feet) colour often depends on the mutation

Since the ceres in all the pictures, including the one that must be male, are very pale I think you should re-take the photos and compare the birds to the new photos to make sure they look natural before posting
  11. The chick is recessive pied, that means that both parents are split for recessive pied. Not all birds that are split for recessiuve pied have a head spot. It is quite possible for it to be opaline as well

Your photos make them all look female. Did you use a flash? If the first one's father is an albino it must be male. If it was female it would be albino
  13. The first is double factor Second is single factor Third is probably double factor but wait a bit to be sure Fourth is single factor
  14. I totally agree. Greywings body colour can be diluted by up to 50%
  15. No Neville there are plently of Clearwing around of the standard with the clean wings. I think what is happening is that when folks (usually beginners with no understanding of genetics) try to increase the size by using Normals they produce birds with heavier wing markings. They show them on the bench and are told they are Greywings. As they don't know any better they then bred them as Greywings or dump them off to others as Greywings. I don't think problem will ever go away. As for the second bird. I disagree. The body colour is too strong for Cinnamon to be present. I bred Cinnamon Clearwings and Cinnamon Dilutes. The Cinnamon does not express in the same way on a Clearwing or Dilute the way it would on a Normal. The tail is not necessarily to dark. As I said the photo is dark and as such has darkened the colour of the bird including the tail. Also if this bird is the result of continously breeding in a Greywing line it be modified because of it. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I breed cinnamons, greywings, clearwings and dilutes too.
  16. Have Australian clearwings deteroriated this badly? I'm sure ours haven't and since this bird is a New Zealander I'll stick with greywing A blue tail with a brown quill like the second bird has is generally a sign of a cinnamon
  17. Dark green opaline spangle

    I agree too

Split rings are not official club rings so you won't be able to tell the year by the colour. The numbers will be just those used by the breeder to indentify the birds. You bird is a type 2 yellow face blue recessive pied male
  20. Greywing violet. Very nice bird
  21. Can't see any pictures! Never heard of a mutation called skywhite, can you post her photo?
  22. It is most likely that the chick is a double factor dominant pied. If he is then your albino cock bird is masking dominant, not split for it. Budgies can't be split for a dominant mutation The ino gene works the same as other sex-linked genes. It would have to come from both parents to get male inos, but if it only comes from the male you will only get females.
  23. Congratulations Dean
  24. If you pair 2 type 2 yellow face birds together you will get 50% single factor type 2 yellow face, 25% double factor type 2 yellow face and 25% normal white face. So that is a total of 75% with yellow faces. If you breed from one of the double factors they will produce 100% yellow face mated to any blue based budgie If you pair 2 type 1 yellow face birds together you will get 50% type 1 yellow face, 25% normal white face and 25% white faced birds that are double factor type 1 yellow face. Visually the double factors will appear the same as the normal white faces but if they are bred to any blue based bird they will produce 100% type 1 yellow face
