Congratulations. Well deserved- New Member with Mutation Questions
Hi and welcome to the forum. We would need photos to properly identify the pied types that you have. If both parents are dominant pied some of their chicks could be double factor dominant pied. If the parents are different pied types some of the chicks could be a combination of pied types. Also if the father is opaline the female chicks will be opaline- New Budgie
Dominant pied spangle. The markings appear light because they are thin (like many spangles). If he was greywing the cheek patches and the sky blue body colour would be much lighter- March 2010 Budgie Of The Month Entries

Congratulations- Is This A Clearwing?
This is what a clearwing should look like however I suspect that this bird might be a clearwing spangle for two reasons. 1/ Because clearwing budgies with very clear wings like we had 50 years ago are now very rare and most clearwing now have markings almost as dark as greywings 2/ Also there is a very small amount of frosting at the base of the tail which is generally a sign of a spangle. The tinge of body colour on the back of the head is also a spangle characteristic- Starting Off The New Year With Our Jan 2010 Bom Winner

Congratulations- Type 2 Yellow Face Gray Opaline X Normal Green?
normal green hen x type 2 yellow face gray opaline If the grey & the yellow face are both single factor and the hen is split for blue you'd get: 12.5% normal green cocks 6.25% normal blue cocks 6.25% yellow face blue cocks 12.5% grey green cocks 6,25% grey cocks 6.25% yellow face grey cocks 12.5% opaline green hens 6.25% opaline blue hens 6,25% yellow face opaline blue hens 12.5% opaline grey green hens 6.25% opaline grey hens 6.25% yellow face opaline grey hens- What Sort Of Offspring Could I Expect?
If the cock is not split for blue you'd get: 50% normal olive 50% dominant pied olive If the cock is split for blue you'd get: 25% normal mauve 25% dominant pied mauve 25% normal olive 25% dominant pied olive If the birds have genes for other mutations these could appear in about 25% of the chicks- January 2010 Budgie Of The Month
- Totally Different Appearance In Cobalts
The expected result from pairing two cobalts would be: 50% cobalt 25% sky blue 25% mauve- Christmas Budgie Competition
- Alfalfa light green or olive green?
Definately a yellow face cinnamon female, the base colour is probably mauve.- What I Am?
Female grey green opaline greywing- Babies Cannot Fly
This is very typical of birds that are heavilly inbred. Are the parents closely related?- Congratulations ! Libby And Bob
Congratulations and best wishes to you both- Congratulations To December 2009 Budgie Of The Month Winner!
Congratulations. Great idea for a photo- I'll Do My Best To Describe This....
Sounds like a type 2 yellow face cobalt or mauve dominant pied. The yellow typically spreads into the body colour making the blue areas look greenish- My New Clutch
Hard to be sure from the photos but I think: 1/ female 2/ male 3/ male 4/ female (the cere is very smooth like a male's but the colour looks quite pale)- Congratulations To The November Budgie Of The Month Winner!
