  1. I am prepairing to get these eight pair into cabinets, but what I was wondering was if you can tell me the %'s of the off spring expected from each of these pair... also if anyone has suggestions of pairing differently (switching them up) in order to get better outcomes for "prettier" (rare or exotic looking) birds, PLEASE suggest so. 1. Pebble and BamBam. I'm told Pebbles is a Dominant Pied Grywing Sky Blue Hen and BamBam is a YF2 Dominant Pied Sky Blue Cock (don't know splits on this pair, first time breeding them) 2. Innocents and Angel. I'm told Innocents is an Albino Cock and Angel is a Single Factor Dominant Pied Sky Blue Hen. (don't know splits on these either and don't know dark factor of the Albino) 3. Fred and Wilma. I'm told Fred is a Normal Light Green Cock and Wilma is a Dilute Light Green Hen 4. Tinker and Patches. Through previous breeding I know Tinker is an Opaline Split Lutino Dark Green Cock and Patches is a Single Factor Dominant Pied Light Green Hen 5. Jake and Jasmine. I'm sold Jake is a Noraml Sky Blue Cock and Jasmine is a Normal Cobalt Blue Hen (don't know split on these either) 6. Tex and Sam. I'm told Tex is an Opaline Sky Blue Cock and Sam is a Normal Cobalt Hen. (don't know splits) 7. Raine and Pearl. Through breeding I've found that Raine is a GF2 Greywing Sky Blue Split Recessive and Albino Cock and Pearl is an Opaline Mauve Hen. And last but not least and most excited to see the results of are: 8. Liz and Henry. I'm told that Liz is a Normal Cobalt Blue Violet Hen and Henry is an Opaline Spangle Sky Blue Violet Cock (don't know splits) ** Please note... unfortunately I did use a flash on all these pics so please keep that in mind. And any birds that "appear" to not have an iris ring do... all birds are 13 months or older right now. The yongest of the group is Sam and she just turned 12 1/2 months on January 2nd, unless I've been lied too... again.**
  2. Cilla is only 4 months olds so wouldn't have an iris ring yet. But as Sailorwolf said, I think Cilla is dom pied not recessive... just an FYI.
  3. Wanted to post an update on my cockatiel chicks... they are so ugly they are cute.... love it though!!!!
  4. No, the Creamino came from my Opaline Mauve Hen and my GF2 Greywing Split Ino and Split Recessive Pied Sky Blue Cock. From that clutch I got: 2 Opaline Hens 2 Dominant Pied Cock 2 Normal Greens 1 Lutino From the 2nd clutch I got: 1 Normal Cock 1 Creamino Hen 2 GF2 (sf) Hen and Cock Ahh okay, then probably not gf okay... doesn't hurt to ask... I've learned a lot about some of my birds from someone just asking a question... so I'm always open to it. Thanks JB.
  5. No, the Creamino came from my Opaline Mauve Hen and my GF2 Greywing Split Ino and Split Recessive Pied Sky Blue Cock. From that clutch I got: 2 Opaline Hens 2 Dominant Pied Cock 2 Normal Greens 1 Lutino From the 2nd clutch I got: 1 Normal Cock 1 Creamino Hen 2 GF2 (sf) Hen and Cock
  6. Just wondering, when you look at the yellow on these guys faces are they the one colour or do they have patches where the yellow is darker? Maybe its just the photo but thats what it looks like to me, if they are a little patchy they may be carrying the gf gene... (I have no idea if its gf or yf, I can never tall the difference.) I see what you are saying JB, but I'm not sure... this is their dad... Opaline Dark Green Cock Split Lutino and he may or may not have GF in him?? I never found out. He's paired with my SF Dom Pied Light Green hen and I don't think she has GF...??
  7. Honestly, that is the only issue. I usually home with the kids during the day and by night fall when we settle to watch TV, relax, bedtime, etc... they are covered over and all is quiet. SO... all in all it's not bad if you don't mind "chatter" ALL DAY LONG!!!! If I have my way (and the money to do so) we will be putting on an addition to the house by late summer. If that happens the bedroom on the first floor will be turned into my "bird room" and the much needed room needed will be given and the noise won't be so bad anymore. PS Thanks for all the compliments from everyone... if feels good to get a pat on the back once in a while. I know there's always something someone would do different or something I could have done better, but with time, money and man power I did the best I could. So thanks again.
  8. I am loving all these pics... reminds me why I love ALL animals and not just my birds.
  9. Yes, it is the youngest and still with mum and dad. All the others are eating well and in the nursery cage. This one is not far behind in age from all the others, but seems to be moving along much slower than the others. He's very active though and seems healthy otherwise, just a late bloomer it seems.
  10. I don't know my mutations all that well yet either but I try hard and wait for someone to correct me... lol. I thought yellow face... lol... too funny it from her calcium. I also thought DF dom pied, but didn't think to ask if there was an iris ring or not. As I said... either way they are beautiful... good for you!!!! :budgiedance:
  11. The doors are on the sides. The full panels are doors on hinges with hooks. Food and water are kept close to the doors for easy refills. They are storage unit shelves I bought at Lowes. They have wire screen attached to the front with wire twistss and boards on the back. I use fishtank background to add color. The rope I use is "real" rope from Lowes, not nylon, but it feels like baler twine. I forget the name of it. Most of the toys are home made out of shoe laces, cards, wood figures, beads, bells, etc... All in all I think it's a good set up now. I agree with KAZ, I'd love to have more room for the tiels, but as you can see what I have already takes up the entire front of my living room. Making the large unitl into 4 units gave me just enough room for ALL my birds (except the finches and nursery birds) without the need for additional cages. But getting the tiels better set up will happen in the near future... getting there, slowly, but surely... money talks!!!!! LOL I agree 100% with you KAZ, but unfortunately the way these units come are in 2 equal halves. The center cross beam is actually what holds the upper half and the lower half together so dividing into three equal parts is not an option with this unit. I can do two small units and one big one, I can do four small ones, or I can do two big ones, but three just can't work. I wish it could.
  12. Good for you!! I got a hatchling out of my last clutch that looks just like this one.... I hope the yellow on her darkens just like yours... Love your bird... ** Just so you know I was told by RIP that mine was a GF2 Albino AKA Creamino.
  13. Ken is a virgo too This is mine :glare: CapricornDecember 22 to January 19If a job needs doing, ask a Capricorn. Highly principled and ambitious, you achieve more than most. Financially, you need status, but it's not just riches and power you crave - respect and recognition are equally important. Your sign is well known for following the path of the tried and true. Capricorn is cautious and self-demanding - often too much so. Despite your tremendous perseverance, you can worry to the point of exhaustion. Ease off the pressure and venture beyond the familiar, or you may miss life's rarer moments. In relationships, you're generous and faithful, as long as the feelings are reciprocated. Even then, you find expressing your emotions difficult. And once your mind's made up, it can be difficult for others to change it. Although some find this single-mindedness frustrating, others are seduced by such strength of character and determination. 2009 OverviewIt's a year for disciplined work for Capricorns. Although January may feel sluggish, your unique talents will soon come to the fore. Thinking processes will fall into a more logical pattern and projects will finally get the attention they deserve. Travel is likely this year, as is good fortune. Still, it's said that more often than not, luck is opportunity meeting initiative. So gain the upper hand before someone beats you to it. Imagine the possibilities that arise when you meet someone on the same wavelength - a definite likelihood in 2009. You needn't travel too far to find this potential soul mate. After October, however, it wouldn't hurt to be more aware of your motivations, especially before taking on extra work. An enthusiastic sun has a cute way of making you overcommit, so think twice before making promises you can't keep. Me too KAZ... good ol' Capricorns... it's soooooo me it's crazy!
  14. They are beautiful. What do you have there an Opaline YF1 Spangle and a DF Dominant Pied?? Either way whatever they are they are nice!!
  15. What a bird... very nice... so cute.
  16. I'm soooooo sorry to hear this MB. :glare: My stomach got upset just reading this post. That is just horrible. I pray I never have to witness it myself. I feel for you and hope you get the miricle of an egg or two to pass on his memory. Best of luck.
  17. I took the advice given on a pervious post and divided into 4 sections with only one pair of breeding birds in each one. The tiel cages I still have to wait to mount on the outside of the cage once the chicks fledge, but this is a start... I hope a good one?? Tell me what you think? These are my eight budgie breeding cages with 2 extra "nursery cages" (top and side). These are my lovebirds, tiels, and non-mating keet cages (finches and extra cages on top) This is just a shot of the whole set up (keep in mind this is in my house in the front part of my living room) So any suggestions or corrections you think I should take into consideration? If I change one more thing my husband is going to kill me, but I'm trying to set up the best I can. Hope everyone had a wonder and safe new year.
  18. These are my pups... Izzy (2 year old female Jack Russell Terrier) and Samson (4 month old male Chocolate Lab).... :glare: :glare: Here's Izzy as a pup when we first got her. Here's Izzy now.. so pretty! Here's Samson when we first brought him home. Here he is last month. Here's the two of them doing what they do best!!!
  19. So the bubs are just about to go off to their new homes. All but one are eating on there own and in the nursery cage. A few more weeks and they will be good as gold. I'm so proud, they are all doing so wonderful. Lutino Hen Creamino Hen Normal Dark Green Cock Normal Light Green ?? (not sure hen or cock) Normal Cobalt Blue Cock Dominant Pied Dark Green Cock Dominant Pied Dark Green Cock Opaline Light Green Hen Opaline Dark Green Hen GF2 (sf) Cobalt Blue (I think one hen and one cock)
  20. Prince Henry - Opaline Spangle Sky Blue Violet Cock Queen Elizabeth (Liz for short) - Normal Cobalt Blue Violet Hen Best part is they were both given to me for FREE!!
  21. Congrats Misty... how cute and no wonder why it's the winner!!!
  22. What a boldy!!! You have to love them when the show thier true colors!!! Nice birds. Good for you.
  23. AWWW... how cute. Such pretty colors and markings! Congrats on the sucess.
  24. The nest boxes you seen in the back ground are my cockatiels and they are the only nest boxes that are like that. My keet boxes are mounted on the outside of the cages. The tiel boxes were an unexpected thing. Both my females were dropping eggs from the perch left and right and I wasn't going to give a box to either one. But they didn't give up and I gave in. I set them in there until my husband got home and by the time we tried to mount them to the side of the cage, the hens both laid an egg in side and wouldn't get out so it was too late to try to fix it without risk. I have 5 tiel chicks in one and 6 eggs in the other. Once they are done those boxes won't be in there like that. I hate them like that... they take up too much cage space, it's so hard to clean the cage without disturbing the nestbox and in order to reach anything in the cage I have to reach around the opening and play dodge with papa. I know KAZ, believe me, they are not staying that way, they will be fixed when these two clutches are out.
