And This Guy Is?
Mum looks like a sky blue spangle fullbody greywing (possibly Dilute??) to me. Dad doesn't look Greywing in this picture, he looks like hes's Greygreen Cinny to me??? Did you use a flash?? I can't tell what the first chick is cause the picture is blury, but it looks like a Dilute Light Green ?? the middle baby looks like a Greygreen Fullbody Greywing and the third chick looks to be the same as mom Sky Blue Dilute Fullbody Greywing . I'm still new at guessing these things though, so wait for Neville or one of the other mutation experts to tell you. I guess I'd like to just see how bad I really am at guessing these things. LOL

What Is She Doing?
Depending on how old the bird is... I have a mature hen that clears out the feed from any deep dish I give her so she can try to nest in it because I won't give her a nest box. I also have a young hen that does the same thing but she seems to do it to make room to sleep in it. It's just a bird being a bird... LOL

High Demand For Yf Birds...
I'm mainly working with YF2 birds. And my goal is to get visual YF1 or YF2 birds, not just have them carry the gene... the people asking for them like the look of them as pets, not wanting to breed and get more YFs in the future. So to achieve the most VISUAL YF chicks, as long as I have one VISUAL YF parent I have at least 25% chance of getting YF chicks from the pair if they are paired to any other blue series bird, RIGHT??? (I hope I'm inderstanding this??)

Mutation Guide
http://www.budgieplace.com/colorsguide.html I found this particular page to be very helpful... and it's FREE!!! LOL I'm sure you are looking for a book though that has alot more to offer, but in the mean time this is really helped me. Good luck.

What In The World Would This Chick Be?
It is most likely that the chick is a double factor dominant pied. If he is then your albino cock bird is masking dominant, not split for it. Budgies can't be split for a dominant mutation The ino gene works the same as other sex-linked genes. It would have to come from both parents to get male inos, but if it only comes from the male you will only get females.Thank you Neville, you answered one of the questions I was hoping to find out. Male Inos need a gene from each parent, female Inos only need one from dad. Thank you. So I take it, it's not possible for dad to pass two Ino genes himself even though he has 2 x that ino gene can attach to?? Looks like a hen to me But you seem to have used a flashYes, shame on me again.. I used the flash because it has been nothing but cloudy and dreary here and my light bulbs don't help either. I will try to get new pics without a flash and as it feathers up more. I thought it HAD to be a male since dad was Albino all Albino chicks would be female and all other chicks would be male but if he is an Albino Dominant Pied I guess I was wrong?? Did I say that right? Is he an Albino Dominant Pied Cock or is he just Albino Masking Dominant Pied Cock? Oh and one more question... if this chick is a DF Dominant Pied chick would it be split Ino because dad is Ino or can't it be split for this gene??

What In The World Would This Chick Be?
I'll go with the DF Dominant Pied. This means this chick must be a male, right?? Pieds are not sex-linked so you won't know unless the experts can tell on the cere. But since dad is Ino and all Inos he produced would be female, wouldn't all other chicks produced be males???? And this also means that I've now found out that my Albino Cock is Split Domiant Pied, right?? Not split he is a dominant pied the ino is just erasing the pied marks okay so he's not "split" he IS Dominant Pied, but because of the Ino I can't "see" it ... so is he Albino "Maksing" Dominant Pied or is he an Albino Dominant Pied Cock?? so I still don't know what dark factor the Albino cock (dad) is???? right Am I right assuming this chick will have no other body color??? All the feathers coming in on it's back and wings are white... will it's belly have color as it feathers up??? most likely I'm still confused a bit on this, but I think what you are saying is that you only need one Ino gene for it to be visual? A male budgie has 2 xx sex chromosomes and a female budgie only has 1 (xy) that can carry the ino gene so a male does need 2 ino genes to be visual and a female only needs 1 to visual this is different completely different then a non-sex linked gene like Spangle or Dominant pied. So to get a male Albino chick do you need one gene from each parent, so that means that my Albino Cock's mother was Albio and his father was split Albino??? Is this only if it comes from the cock?? Sex-linked genes can come from both parents but only the male can not show a sex linked gene because he needs 2 to be visual a female will always be visual. So if you had 2 inos then you would have 100% inos. Does a visual male Albino carry the Ino gene on only one of it's xx or is there an ino gene attached to each one? If so why can't an Albino male pass both Ino genes from each xx to a chick and produce a male albino chick? We get all Albino hens because dad is the only one passing on the ino gene? So we can only get a male Albino chick if mom was Albino and dad was at least carrying the gene on one xx??? Like my Opaline, I only needed the cock to be Opaline and I got Opaline Hen chicks... and in this case I only needed the cock to be Ino to get Ino hen chicks. So does this work that way with all sex linked genes on cocks? Do I only need that one gene from the dad to get visual chicks of that particual gene. Yes but they will all be females Yes, both my Opaline chicks and both the Albino chicks I'm told are female, they have to be because the fathers are visually showing the gene and the mothers aren't?? I hope I got that right my head is starting to ache (not from this post just a headache coming on)

What In The World Would This Chick Be?
I'll go with the DF Dominant Pied. This means this chick must be a male, right?? And this also means that I've now found out that my Albino Cock is Split Domiant Pied, right?? I can't wait to see what this chick looks like. The only part that sucks is that my hen is sky blue and the cock is Albino... I got 2 albino chicks and this df dom pied chick... and it looks like this chick is going to have NO body color (will be all white with black bars on the head)... so I still don't know what dark factor the Albino cock (dad) is???? Am I right assuming this chick will have no other body color??? All the feathers coming in on it's back and wings are white... will it's belly have color as it feathers up??? Yay Its Finished
I think you did a wonderful job. I did the same thing out of storage shelfs and it worked out wonderful. I agree that the nest boxes should be on the outside of the cage for easy cleaning. I made that mistake with my cockatiel nest boxes and it was a pain in the tush trying to clean the cages. Too much moving of the nest box to clean. As for lifting them off the ground, I don't think that effects things as much as long as the room they are in is warm and not cold drafty floors. My breeding unit is 4 units high. The highest at 4 1/2 feet and the lowest being only 2 inches off the ground. I've had much sucess even in the lower two units. Actually my one pair in the unit closest to the ground laid the most eggs (7) and 5 of them have hatched. I think as long as temp, feed, and water are just right they will "go for it" either way. Wonderful job. I'm always amazed at what can be done with unused furniture. Good for you.

Mixed Avairy
I've personally had no issues with mixing tiels and keets. I've even kept tiel and keet chicks in the same nursery cage and they interact wonderfully. As for the others, I'm not sure I've never tried or owned alot of the others. The only ones I was strongly warned about were Lovebirds... I was told not to put Lovebirds in with any other birds because the Lovebird will always come out on top (of the other dead bird)!! I also agree that SIZE MATTERS. The larger the area the better off you are mixing any kind of bird. If they have room to get away from each other or space to claim as their own then I think you will fair very well. Good luck.

Few Pics
I love the first picture... this little one looks like a clown... it's feet are so much bigger than its body!!! LOL So cute. The markings on some of the other pied birds and the brightness of the colors are AMAZING!!!! Lovely birds!

Bird picture's

What In The World Would This Chick Be?
The hen is not albino, the hen is dominat pied (possibly clearwing)... the cock is Albino. Also the eyes are not red or plum they are jet black. That being said... any other suggestions???

High Demand For Yf Birds...
So for the purpose of selling to individuals for "pets" that want the appearance of the yellowface, it's best to just pair one yellowface with another non-yellowface bird to get visual yellowface chicks? And in doing that I have 50% chance or less of yellowface chicks with this kind of pairing? Right?

What In The World Would This Chick Be?
I have a pair, Dominant Pied Sky Blue Hen and an Albino Cock, they had a clutch of 4 eggs, 3 hatched. I got 2 Albino Hens from it and this chick???? The body is pure white (fluffy white down feathers) the head is dark. There are not other colored pin feathers on it's entire body except 2 dark pin feathers in its "arm pit" and1 dark pin feather in its tail feathers. What mutation is this???

Opaline Greywing?
So then it appears that the Opaline Greywing Light Green Hen is from my SF Dominant Pied Light Green Hen and my Opaline Dark Green Split Lutino Cock and both these parents must be split Greywing?? Right?

High Demand For Yf Birds...
Your hen appears to have no iris rings  We went through this before KAZ... Remember...? I was going to breed 8 pair and it was suggested (on here) that two pair inparticular not be bred because they looked too young although they are 12 months old... well I followed that advice, I didn't breed the pairs that everyone was concerned about, and only bred 4 pair and this was one of them. She and her mate are wonderful parents. She produced 7 eggs, 4 babies have hatched (3 more eggs to go) and they are all doing fine. She even fostered one chick for a few days for me. This is this hens iris ring picture that I posted before. That being said... back to the topic... it was asked who I paired this YF cock with... so is there more to add now knowing the hen??

High Demand For Yf Birds...
Pied is paired to a Dilute Dominant Pied Greywing Sky Blue Hen... ??

Opaline Greywing?
The underside of the wing is blue... So you think this is the father... and you are saying that some how he had to have "got it on" with the Dominant Pied Light Green Hen?? If that's the case then where did the Opaline come form if that's not the case then where did the green come from??? Parent Birds: GF Greywing Split Ino Sky Blue Cock Opaline Split Lutino Dark Green Cock Opaline Mauve Hen SF Dom. Pied Light Green Hen Chick: Opaline Greywing Light Green Hen

High Demand For Yf Birds...
These are the only YF birds I have... Still not sure if he is YF2 or Goldenface.. but this is the one that needs to take a break This one I think is a YF2 Dom Pied Cock? He is already paired with a hen and they have 6 eggs (2 hatched, 4 to go) This one is too young... but I think it's YF1 Greywing Cock? This one I'm told should be 12-18 months by mid summer... but I think it's Opaline YF2 Hen? And this is just a new bub (2 months old) Creamino Hen (Goldenface Albino)?
-
Opaline Greywing?
Then my bird can't be a Goldenface... if Goldenface is a green bird. He is paired with an opaline mauve hen and their offspring have all been Cobalt blue. Green is dominant color so wouldn't their offspring have been green?? OR is this the explanation on how I have a GREEN OPALINE GREYWING?? If the mom is Opaline, and dad is Goldenface Greywing... dad provided the "green series" were were looking for, mom provided the opaline and dad provided the greywing making mom split greywing too ?? Could this be it?? If not, I'm lost again??? Do you think this dad is Goldenface Greywing Split Ino Light Green Cock or is he a Yellowface II Greywing Split Ino Sky Blue Cock ??

High Demand For Yf Birds...
I have been slammed with requests for YF (YF1 or YF2) birds. I have bred one pair that has produced them (only 3 out of 10 babies). I have to give this pair a break (they had two clutches in the past few months) but the demand for the YF birds they throw is high. I need to give them a break and want to pair up another set of birds to continue my chances of getting YF chicks. My question is this... if I pair any YF male with any YF female do I have a better chance of getting MORE YF offspring or are the chances just the same if only one of the parents were YF? Do I need to be selective in my pairs? Will certain mutations over run the YF mutation resulting in NO YF babies? Some adive woudl be helpful.

Boys Or Girls ?
Thank you all for your help on this. if there is anyone else that can add thier imput that would be great. The more matching opinions the better. Thanks again.

Opaline Greywing?
No "swingers" here KAZ. These two pair have been in their own cages ever since the last time, when I tried putting two pair in one cage and had to seperate them (you probably remember that drama I created trying that). So no, no chance they got at each other in a few months. ?? I'm confused about the GF2? My bird is a Greywing Sky Blue... in the YF situation I would need the YF2 gene to make him the "green color" he is, if he was YF1 he would be sky blue with a yellow face... so that being said... If I 've been told he is a Goldenface... then if not a GF2 how has his body taken on the green color?? Does Goldenface effect the body color no matter what?
-
Opaline Greywing?
DAZ - By GF2, yes I mean Goldenface II. You confused me a bit on your statement above, because the "first pair" the dad IS Opaline so he can't be split for it. They have had 3 clutches so far and I have only gotten Normals, Dominant Pied, Opaline and Lutinos from this pair. Never anything else. The other thing is that if the chick is from the "second pair".... how is the chick a green series bird when both the parents in pair # 2 are blue series birds ? They had 2 clutches so far and the only color I have gotten from them is Cobalt and Creamino. I have gotten Normals, GF2, and Creaminos from this pair. Never anything else. Pair one... both green series Mum is Single Factor Dominant Pied Light Green Hen Dad is Opaline SPlit Lutino Dark Green Cock Pair two... both blue series Mum is Opaline Mauve Hen Dad is Goldenface II Greywing Split Ino Sky Blue Cock The Chick is questions appears to be Opaline Greywing Light Green Hen????? (chick on right) So I'm still confused??
