  1. If that is a black eye I see I would say he is a suffused Double Factor White Spangle
  2. Aesthetics is insignificant at this stage! Main thing is the holders work!
  3. How are your birds doing today GB? Has the weather settled down, or is it still cold and miserable?
  4. Ummmm, not sure! I was thinking automatically that albino cocks chuck albino hens but come to think of it with the green series dominance- you are right!
  5. Oh I Love it when they are at this stage, I think they look so cute! Your chickies are looking very healthy.
  6. Yes, I means one or both of the parents is Split Blue. If this albino chick is a hen then it is the Dad which is split Blue. If it is a cock chick it means Both parents are split Blue.
  7. Good point!
  8. okay budgies are a type of parrot so if you figure out what prehistoric animal turned into a seed eating bird you have your answer .... don't you? But I'm with Nubbly here, Birds?: Yes - Dinosaurs?: No
  9. Air con units when they are on tend to push out air. I would have thought that so long as your birds are not directly exposed to this draft they will be okay.
  10. I didn't know that! You are very lucky to have such a beautiful name David
  11. Yes, it is a real shame. Temperatures are due to peak again on Saturday and are forecast to hit 40C - AGAIN ... The MBC Annual Show will be re-scheduled for another month - So if you were planning to come along for the big event on Saturday please consider coming along for it anyway when it is next planned .... WATCH THIS SPACE!
  12. Glad you didn't have any loses.
  13. .... and if there was any doubt that this is an El Nino year - Last night here in Perth was the hottest in 21 years with a minimum temperature of 26.8 at 1am and: It continues to be a dry one too, Perth hasn't seen any recorded rainfall in around two months now. This is due to higher than normal temperatures in the Pacific Ocean.
  14. That is a really good tip - would never have thought of it!
  15. Congratulations on your "new-born"! Yes, keeping a journal is great fun and you learn loads from doing so. The times I have been diligent enough to do so I have found it very educational. Members input has made me question things and review some things.
  16. renee replied to lil_fuzzy's topic in Aviaries
Congratulations lil-fuzzy ! I especially like your album and how you have set it out ~ Very Nice!
  17. Well Done Shannon! That is a great aviary set up and your budgies are so lucky to have such a wonderful place to live.
  18. I am so glad it is all going smoothly for you Finnie. It is a testament to your Breeding instincts and great care of your budgies
  19. Ratzy, I understand how exciting this is for you However, you really need to be very discreet in your observations and check the nest box once in the morning and once in the evening MAXIMUM. You run the risk of freaking her out - a stressed hen will not brood properly (incubate the eggs) and will have "issues" raising the young.
  20. Another hot day today 39.2C 5mins ago. I hope it has peaked for the day and doesn't go any higher. Can't wait for a break in the weather!
  21. It is always possible
  22. Latest update: a better photo of Lou Lou's eye - (okay, maybe not ) Hoping the Ionic Silver arrives soon.
  23. Glad you didn't lose any birds today
  24. Unfortunately sometimes this does happen. I do not think you will be able to save the chick that was attacked. I would remove the hen asap and just leave the remaining chicks with Dad.
