How My Budgie Died...warning To New Owners..
i'm paranoid about cooking water! No birds, animals or children allowed out while cooking. The kids aren't even allowed in the kitchen when there is hot cooking going on. I have seen a baby chicken stepped on and it was awful, so I have a paranoia about things under my feet also!

Types Of Wood
Why no get some straight sticks from trees to use instead of dowel, that way it is better for their feet and it's free as well!

Breeder By Default
Sunny don't freak out as I have moved pairs on eggs from the aviary with no problems, but you will have to make sure she goes straight back to sitting on the eggs again. Also since it has been two weeks you could candle the eggs and check whether there is nice vein growth in them. If they are not fertile then you might as well send the pair back to the aviary and your problem is solved. They shouldn't breed if there is nothing that looks like a box or a hollow.

When To Start?
If the cage is in a warmish place and they are well fed and healthy they can be bred at ny time of year.

Sore Eye
A friend of mine always recommended a tea bag on each eye as part of a Do It Yourself facial so it must be soothing. Moderator’s Message changed DIY to Do It Yourself. please do not use shortcuts - use only approved shortcuts found in guidelines.

Average Age Budgies Leave The Nest
The stats say that more and more are staying at home with mum and dad rather than getting their own places. The cost of buying a house and even groceries, so it's a good deal while you can get it.....Oh wait we're talking about budgies aren't we :hap:

Get Your Faces Set To Smile
Alex is 3, if it wasn't for the fact that the breeding cage is up high well out of his reach he would help himself to a cuddle too!!

Cuttlefish..
You have to be quick in populated areas, collectors go and get it and sell it.

Minimum Breeding Cage Size?
I use quite large ones for the tiels, they are about 2ft square on the front and about 1 ft deep(don't forget it will need to accomodate up 6 or 7 or more birds when the babies start to grow). I don't have any budgie breeding boxes yet (grrrr )so can't help you there.

A Little Help For My Babies Please!
Sorry in one of those photos it looked like the perch was a sandpaper one Don't feel you have to dash out today to get a branch, they are only babies after all so they have a little time yet before it will be a big deal.

Cuttlefish..
There are over 100 different species of cuttlefish I believe. The one that is common around the south coast is the giant cuttlefish which is why we get those huge cuttlebones around here. You may find some smaller ones up there.

Introducing .... Azul, Kishan And Sky
They can be tricky at that age, even if the cere is pinkish it could be a boy. The trick is whether they have a white ring around their nostrils. If they do they are girls if they don't they are boys
-
Cuttlefish..
You never know though if the tides are right you might get a lucky find.
-
Cuttlefish..
The info I have suggests they only go as far north as Coffs Harbour on the east coast so that might be why.

A Little Help For My Babies Please!
I would get a branch or two from out of the garden if you have something which is bird safe(sorry I have NO idea what is over your way, but if you cn tell me what you can get I can try and work it out for you) Natural branches are better for their feet and I wouldn't be using that perch with sandpaper on it, that is VERY bad for them.

Get Your Faces Set To Smile
He has been trying to get his hands on small critters to cuddle ever since he was tiny. I keep having to remind him that the baby needs it's mummy and that if he cuddles it too much then it won't get enough to eat
